It is surprising to see how much the hype of the AI era reminds about the combinatorial /hts/omics era end 90s beginning 2000s in it’s beleif in the quantity of data. That era overpromised in a similar way, didn’t deliver upon expectations but delivered great and pragmatic tools for discovery and development which today are used to speed up lab work. Give it 3-4 years and the investors will be very frustrated over lack of delivery. AI will deliver some great tools to assist. I am also sure AI will be combined with other techniques like cycles knowledge databases to increase quality to support experimental approaches. One of the biggest problems is access to high quality datasets, which is mentioned, its not only processing the datasets to have the same format, more so variability and degrees of freedom. What biological data sets out there have the same or similar quality as the pdb database of xrays which enabled alfafold?

The video is a lot of fluff, riddled with fashionable jargon (closed loops, collaboration, etc.), but light on substance. The first thing I would like to know is whether drugs are always the answer. I don't know why all talk of AI in medicine is just replacing or augmenting some component of the current pipeline with AI, but not rethinking the entire paradigm of drug development. Can there be such a thing as a drug with no side-effects? What if I have to take a dozen drugs and they all have interacting side-effects?

@@tylermoore4429that is what is going to happen. AI will enforce parts of the process. BP are using AI to support target selection today, will be interesting to see in 15 years time if they were correct……

If AI come into medical science. There will be no more doctors required and mass of professionals will be jobless. Human life will be more miserable. But One thing we will get rid of money minded doctors.

That woman from Microsoft seems so fake and aggressive at the same time. Using her claws to climb the career ladder. I bet she has bullied many people before.

How do you come up with this? She just has a strong voice. Nothing much different to the others

@jimj2683 You need to talk to a therapist. You have some unresolved issues.

She's a bit pushy and shrill... likely thinks she's smarter than most people. And she may very well be quite intelligent, but doesn't seem the type that takes criticism without getting highly defensive; which snubs the depth of her knowledge.

This is odd. My original comment got deleted, but jimj2683’s misogynistic comment remains.
