This Saturday on the 12th will be my 3yr sobriety anniversary so I definitely know how hard it is to get and stay off the booze... I applaud this grieving widow for what she is doing to bring awareness and offer my deepest condolences
My stepfather died from Complications from years of alcohol abuse, started off as a fatty liver and then turned into cancer. Rest in peace to AJ and my stepdad.
Its beautiful how other entertainers helped his wife financially. Those stars names that supported him and his wife need to be put out there more. People like that deserve to be supported the most
That's nice and all but the accountability needs to be ousted - adequate life insurance at the bare minimum should be done if nothing else is done right in life when you have loved ones to leave behind. Period. That's just reckless and selfish.
@@ojames1983 We don't know his financial status over the lasts few years of his LIFE. It's a GREAT possibility he couldn't afford to continue to pay for insurance. We assume ALL ENTERTAINERS have it at baller status, but that's not the case. Many end up living regular lives earning a living pay check to pay check. So let's NOT be so quick to condemn our BROTHA. But I agree PEOPLE in general need to make life insurance a priority bill or necessity just like paying the mortgage or rent monthly.
I just got sober too and it feels great! I went to the hospital and was under medical care to help with the withdrawals. The meds made my withdrawals manageable! And now I can focus on better things in life!
Congrats. How long did you drink? I started at 20 and went hard until I was 29. From there I slowed down & eventually quit all together 6 months ago. It was easier since I had already slowed down
R.I.P. I stopped drinking a year ago on my birthday, after having two DUI in the mid 2000’s shit just not worth. No weed, cigarettes no nothing for me, I learned to have fun without being intoxicated…
Hard life. Rest In Peace brotha. Even folks with fame go through things , some people don’t realize that. They are human with faults like everyone else .
I never had a problem with alcohol but I wasn’t healthy and I was obese, so three years ago I changed by diet and cut out beer. I lost 70lbs and don’t drink anymore, it still feels weird to say “I don’t drink” because I was that guy for 30yrs that loved throwing back some cold ones.
damn whenever someone talks about being healthy and not drinking it makes me want to drink, Im trying to slow down for no other reason than to cut the extra calories I drink about 3 days a week not heavy Im a cut it down to 4 times a month so basically saturday only, anyway Im commenting mad long like I know y'all lol anyway have a great day youtube people
Good you stopped at some point. Over 15 years of taking care of sick people and what I will say is all the abuse that we put our bodies through eventually catches up to us. Some sooner than others.
@ThatRedBoneThug she said it seems like he was she didn't say it was a fact but the eyes are a window to the soul 9 out of 10 times if someone was a heavy drinker it's for a reason it's said that the ones that make us laugh suffer the most
@ThatRedBoneThug you have issues you replied to me two days ago and just now 11 mins ago are you that damn bored when I didn't even reply to your first response yet you're slow and can't comprehend be mad idgaffff 🥴 peace ✌️
I got poisoned 2 years ago and have been drinking like a fish since. Now my insides are screwed up from the poison and drinking. Hoping that I am OK. I will find out more tomorrow when they go down my throat with a camera to see everything. Please keep me in your prayers. I already had my gallbladder removed last month but still not feeling well. I know that God's got me though
Shoutout to AJ's widow for making his cause of death to be public. I agree. Alcohol abuse should be warned and caused a lot of early deaths. RIP Ezal. Your memory in comedy movies lives on.
@@pastryshack551 Because he didn't have any alcohol in his system at the time, when he died, doesn't mean he didn't die from alcohol My cousin died 5 years ago The doctor told him he had cirrhosis of the liver. His doctor told him if he didn't stop drinking, that he would die. He didn't listen, he kept on drinking. He would sneak alcohol so nobody would see him. I caught him drinking 1 time and told him I was going to tell his mom on him. He said that was his last drink, I swear, he lied
A lot of people don't know that you can die from drinking to much alcohol. My cousin was about AJs age when he died. He was a alcoholic and died from Cirrhosis of the liver 5 years ago His liver was messed up, from drinking to much
@@mlynettepinky595 that's what i thought too, chances are at the time of his death he had no alcohol in his system and he may have tried to stop abruptly which is what everyone is warned against. with your cousin gradual removal would have helped but sadly not everyone has this strenght. i attended a funeral 4 years ago and i kid you not how the embalming fluid couldn't tame the vague smell of alcohol in the deceased's body still baffles me to this day. i walked past the casket and i recognize the very distinct spirit that i could name . it blew my mind frankly. the poor dude had been drinking himself to an early grave and sheit stayed w me.
@@pastryshack551 people with the max still die. Stop watching the news, Rona is not a primary cause of demose. Liver cirrhosis takes years to occur & a person doesn’t have to be drunk at the time their liver gives out.
I had a relative who had seizures at any time they DIDN’T DRINK. Never understood why being sober at any time after years/decades of drinking can trigger this kind of shock to the body & eventual death…Funny how alcohol related deaths disappeared when COVID-19 became a thing despite being a top-3 killer in the US for decades.
If you quit drinking after abusing it for years you have to quit gradually. Your body naturally produces alcohol and dulls synapes in the brain that regulate your heart rate, nervous system, etc. When you quit drinking all at once those synapes go into overdrive and overwhelm the functional parts of your brain with information.
Alcohol is a drug. Like abused drugs, or prescription drugs used over years (Blood Pressure meds, Depression Meds, Pain meds like Oxycotin, Heroin, Crack, etc) you can't just cold turkey them, because your body starts to freak out. You get sick, and have a lot of pain, some die. They have to be weened off. Given less and less over time until their body dont need it anymore, or detox.
@@dinkyboss the point is that the country made covid a bigger deal than the diseases and ailments that were already killing ppl faster than covid, alcoholism being one of them, hence why the country is so divided on the motives.
Who couldn't Love this man because he brought so much laughter in people homes!!!! Thanks go out to the artists' that were there for him!!! My love for his Family & friends who were there. CellaMadea
It's insane how years of drinking can end a person's life even when they've stopped drinking decades later. Yet they make it so accessible and acceptable esspecially compared to other substances.
Its no different than cigarettes or food addictions. We can't destroy our bodies and not expect it to lead to early death. Yeah its crazy how accessible alcohol is. On the news they showed inflation cost for food and alcohol. Food was up 14% alcohol only 4%🤬
Man I’m a alcoholic myself I drink everyday and try to stop this is the reality of what can and wil happen and I keep drinking even tho I know the consequences I don’t want to leave my kids but I can’t stop drinking I ain’t looking for anyone to feel bad or even talk talk shit to me I’m just saying people don’t know what others are goin thru and it takes a toll on a person RIP MY DUDE
Go get professional help. Therapy. Behavioral or addiction Therapy. Make it a point to go once a month just to start. Don't hide anything, even if you think you're over it or it's no big deal. Don't be afraid to feel whatever you may feel no matter how bad it feels. I would also say go to an AA meeting. It's going to force you to feel bad but that may be the problem. The problem of not fully feeling what you need to feel to heal. While you do all of these things, self help can give you more insight on other behaviors you may see in yourself and something you and your therapist can explore.
Man I've been drinking almost everyday for the past 8 years been drinking altogether for more than 12 and I'm only 36 years old, I've noticed changes to my body as of the last 4 years or so that I really don't like but it's hard to walk away, I've spent so much money on drinking lost good relationships over it and watched friends surpass me in certain aspects even though I make decent money... I've tried weening myself off I've tried detox and rehab I've tried finding a new hobby but I still find myself waking up to a brew falling asleep to a brew only drinking water once or twice a day... so believe me when I say you are not the only one brother it's hard I've even come to realize that drinking is possibly what is going to take me out but I'm some what ok with it I have no kids nor wife...but the journey is all yours brother
I never feel comfortable hearing about celebs die because people will judge them for their life and it'll affect their friends and family more but thankfully his wife wants people to know. God bless AJ and all his loved ones
It's sad that it took his death to realize that he was not only loved by his family and fans, but so many other entertainers. Rest in peace AJ Johnson. You've been missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing you.
I used to hang out with AJ all the time and talked to him on the phone constantly. He had other issues other than that, but he was a good friend and I will miss him dearly. Love you forever AJ.
I’m so thankful for this.. He was such a gift to us.. his comedic gift was unmatched.. lol even at home in Oakland he would come inside the nail shop and have us falling out.. Omg., lol rest easy you will Never be forgotten.. Thanks to All that gave in his honor.. Real Ones
People get life insurance. ESPECIALLY, if you have underlying conditions or live a risky lifestyle. Our community doesn’t talk about this. You don’t want to leave your family trying to figure out how to bury you. It’s expensive. RIP AJ
He probably had insurance. Settlements aren't automatic. It takes weeks to process. The girlfriend might not have had access to his insurance claims and other assets.
I love this channels content. It's focused on black comedy culture while giving perspectives on the overall mainstream comedy culture. Really well done. Please keep up the organically awesome content.
I didn't even know he died, until I saw this video on my homepage. Thanks for the info. Sad COD, and I am not surprised. I appreciate his wife for speaking out.
@ThatRedBoneThug - Right 😂😂😂😂 When was he supposed to get them? That “give them their flowers” means what exactly? Ohhhh it must be an award from the establishment they claim to hate all of the time!
I'm 55 (thank you Jesus!) and just had my annual physical and everything is good except my belly fat. Doc said I just need to lose 30lbs and cut back on the bread eating and steaks. Our body is temple and we only get one. AJ...rip.
R.i.p A.J. knowing the way you pass away give alot of people something to pay attention to on their drinking. It will catch up if you're not careful God bless your soul....
I'm so sorry about your husband he humor was crazy. But to you young lady I'm so proud of you to step up and let people know the truth. You and your family are in my prayers. 🙏🙏🙏🙏
I had the pleasure to meet him a few yrs ago. And that experience I would never forget😁. Only thing I regret is not getting a picture with him😔 but the laughs will stay with me until the end of time… R.I.P 💐 (Again) my condolences to the family
I knw what alcohol can do to the body I just had a liver transplant bck in September of 2021 so I know the dangers I almost died was hanging on by a thread but by the grace of God he found me a donor and I am truly blessed for the gift of a second chance at life so may Mr. AJ r.i.p 🙏🏽
Sorry about your lost my son drinks also he end up in the ER IT'S HARD TO LOSE SOMEONE YOU LOVE AND GOD BLESS YOU FOR TAKING YOUR TIME TO HELP OTHERS GOD KEEP YOU STRONG IN HIS LOVE
I loved alcohol more than life. If I could I would have married tequila. I don’t wish this on anyone. But alcoholism is real. Today I am 1 year sober, I’m always shocked that I am still alive. Can’t lie tho I miss drinking but I love not feening for poison. Rest easy AJ!🙌🏽
I am saddened to learn of his passing. He was one of my favorites. I had watched him throughout the years and enjoyed his career very much. I find that being a comedian is very hard on the soul and something makes them sad and depressed and they seek out stimulants of all kinds that aren't good which lead to bad ends. Many leave this world too soon. Rest in Peace My Very Funny Brother. May you find your solace at last.🙏🥀
THANK YU FOR YUR HAPPINESS AND MOVIES GREAT ACTER THANKS FOR LETTING ME KNOW HE PASSED I NEVER KNEW THIS S 🥺📱🙏 GOD BLESS HER S WIFE and family lost my Husband of 22 years ITS HARD KEEP FIGHTING REMEMBER THIS LOVE ONE ANOTHER CAUSE YU KNEVER KNOW WHEN ITS YUR TIME LIVE ALL 🌎
This happens to so many people. It's sad too because they'll be so young, dying too soon horribly. Alcohol, smoking and drugs. If you do them consistently for a considerable amount of time, even if you eventually quit sometimes the damage is done.
This man was almost 60 years old. Not like he was 35, 40. The dangers of drinking too much and dying at 60? Cmon. And you know he did other things also. He lived good.
Prayers for the family❤️❤️I’m so happy and so blessed God took the drinking away from me🤲🏽🤲🏽it will be six years this year I been alcohol free❤️ I always say Alcohol is the devil.
Thank God for the entertainer whi contribute to his wife that's what we in the fellowship call a WE When we can all come too together for the greater good. I also know the struggle I myself am coming up on 3yrs 3/22/19 is my clean date & WE DO RECOVER ONE DAY AT A TIME. REST IN PEACE AJ JOHNSON 🙏🏾 🙏🏾
I had literally planned on getting back at this guy one day for making snaps about me when he visited Detroit (I mean that in a playful way). Still can't believe he's gone. May God bless his family.
So sad, he could’ve had issues he was running from stemming from childhood, which lots of us do. Lots of comedians end up in that profession because they are using jokes to mask their pain. The most well know comic who did this was my favorite Richard Pryor. I’m so glad that the other comics reached out to his wife to show support and God Bless Offset and the others for being generous enough to give her money even with the things she was saying,it could’ve been the grief, but people need to realize it’s your responsibility to have life insurance because it’s not the public or fans job to bury your love ones.
That's unfortunate. I lost 2 aunts to alcohol. Alcohol will brake everything that holds you together down. Ain't no reversing it unless you can get new insides
Anthony has been funny sense elementary school, he was a student at Dickinson Elementary school when I was in the 3rd grade and our teacher name was Ms.Honeywood he would have us laughing and we would get in trouble may he RIP
DAMMIT, I just learned today in January 2024 Aj passed away 3 years ago in 2021. I hate when I learn actors I like are not here anymore. He wasn't even old yet just 55. Too bad. I would liked to see him more roles.
Not being judgmental, however it is always amazing to me how some people of stature that makes money never takes to time to have a insurance policy. Death is immanent and the cost of insurance policy is minimal. How are you being responsible by leaving your loved ones penniless and have them forced to raise funds to put you in the ground? Rappers make millions and the money they donated and spoke about is pennies to their gross. Those small amounts was given is chump change to someone in their revenue stream. To be honest they spend more at one night in a strip club. Just my opinion.
I'm late ass hell because I had no idea that he was dead. Wow that's crazy. I be so submerged in my own business that shit like this just skip by me. RIP BRO save me a spot in heaven.
So glad I haven’t pick up any worldly toxic things such as drinking/smoking/wild lifestyle etc. This wasn’t an unfortunate death it was slowing processing it’s unfortunate to his family//friends.
My dad just passed away last Sunday from years of drinking so much, I knew it was inevitable because he had nearly died several times before, hopefully more people will learn the dangers of it and quit before it's too late 💔
