Dr. Lou Libby, Pulmonologist at The Providence ALS Center at the Oregon Clinic, discusses the muscles we use to breathe, and the importance of having a care plan and a pulmonologist on your care team
My mother is suffering from MND ALS. she has difficulty in breathing . Her oxygen in blood goes below 85. Now we gave her oxygen with the help of oxygen concentrator.
I’ve been newly diagnosed with ALS. I have, over two years, noticed that I have multiple periods each day that I’m not breathing. Once I’m aware that I’m essentially holding my breath involuntarily I have to consciously take a breath to get things started again. I do have complex central sleep apnea and OSA. I do use BiPap at night. Is daytime breath holding common in ALS?
