Chloe'sLife In terms of what you put off them, literally just put like the main thing. so if you need to put definitions of important words then put that in your mindmap and if you need to put diagrams in that are important put that in and briefly explain that in like a sentence

Just want to add a bit of motivation/positivity from my perspective- A levels can seem like they are going to be impossible and seem sooo much work and as if they are never ending.. but trust me you CAN get through it! I thought I would never be able to learn everything and I would never get the grades I wanted, but I managed to pull through and surprise myself. Yes it's not easy and the weeks before the actual exams were one of the most stressful times of my life... but it's now all over and I came out with grades that I am really proud of, and now the stress of A levels seems like a distant past time that I have forgotten about (lol how deep) It does end, and if you put in the work you will surprise yourself at what you can do!

They say that from the transition from GCSE to A-Level you will drop two grades if you don't put in more effort which shows just how hard the step up is. But the content does get finished in time (we finished at easter then straight onto revision) so don't worry about it!

Lucy Roberts I'm not eve obviously lol but I can give you some advice on GCSE options from someone who is in year ten: please please please know what you like, and know what you're good at. Don't convince yourself that you like something just because you think it will look better on a cv, or you think it will be easier, or you think that it makes a good combination with your other options. Don't listen to what anyone else tells you about the GCSEs that you're considering because anyone in your year nobody has done a GCSE yet, even if you or your friends have older siblings because they would have done the old GCSE. This new GCSE starts for my year (I'm guessing you're in year nine), and it's completely different to the old one. So absolutely nobody knows what they are talking about, unless they were involved in the production of the new GCSE syllabus and exam. Basically what I'm trying to say is know what you truly like, because you would surprised how ridiculously easy it is to convince yourself that you enjoy something. Put as much thought into choosing your options as you can, and work super hard this year because it will help you for year ten. Hope I helped! Good luck xo
@faithmoll3340
@faithmoll3340 7 лет назад
Lucy Roberts I'm in year nine right now and we picked out subjects in year 8 so we could get used to the new GCSE and have enough practise so that by Year 11 we're used to it. I picked Business studies, P.E, History and Triple Science. My best advice is pick what you like and make sure you know about what you're picking. I'm horrible at homework so I made sure the subjects I picked on my own (I didn't choose Triple Science, I was forced to) had less homework. Go to the teachers of the subject you're doing and ASK? I know some people in my year were scared of asking SOO they ended up picking subjects they thought were easy but actually needed a lot of work done at home. Also, don't be worried about the New GCSE. It's not easy but since year 9 are the first doing the full new GCSE's the grade boundaries will hopefully be lower except for the 9's. Just make sure you do your work and know what you're doing.

@rochelle1199

You had to do that anyway😊I did lit this year and got an A😀Best way to remember quotes is to write them on post it notes or colourful pieces of card and stick them EVERYWHERE in your house and i mean EVERYWHERE😂I had a few on my ceiling above my bed, the TV, the microwave, the front door etc. This way you see them when just caring on with life and learn them with 0 effort as in like opening a book. It helps soooo much to do that. I remembered every single quote I needed to know and more because i decided to write more quotes than was needed. Hope this helps

It is most definitely possible to learn all the content by the end of year 12! I'm in year 13 now and in my GCSEs I got 4Cs,4 Bs and A and in my AS's I got two Bs and Cs ☺️ I honestly believe if you have a good routine for homework/study time you'll be absolutely fine! Like Eve I have around 12 frees a week including a Monday off on my new timetable! I really struggled with English lit/Lang at AS but I just did an extra essay every week and asked my teachers for practice questions which also helped time management! I find at A2 I'm struggling more with psychology than last year which stresses me cause I want to do it at Uni! However today I voluntarily did extra questions as I've been getting Ds in psych when I got B last year 🙃 anyway good luck eve and everyone else in GCSE/sixth form years!

I also continued with English this year and my teachers have said that my extra work I did last year is really paying off with the coursework I have to do now and I'm much better with structure ☺️ I dropped World development because I found it quite Dull!

Really enjoyed this video! I'm in year 13 now so I can say, don't worry! You will manage and trust me, you're already so firm in your foundations just by keeping on top of work as you go along so keep doing that and I PROMISE you that you'll be absolutely fine! Remember that at A Level you really can trust your teachers too because they're more expert in their subjects than at GCSE. This year my work load for music seems impossible, and I really struggled to manage it last year. But this year I know the teacher knows what she's doing and I 100% trust her because she got me through last year! So you're doing the right thing getting to know them and following their advice. Also, Bs in your first essays?! That's so good! You still have so much time to improve so you'll definitely be on solid As by the end. As for language speaking, everyone freaks out at the start. You go from that lovely GCSE memorisation to complete spontaneity at A Level! I'd recommend getting a speaking buddy to practice with on a more regular basis and naturally your grammar will improve. Your grammar is still growing as well at the moment so I wouldn't worry about it too much at this stage. I'm studying El Labriento del Fauno this year too, although we've not started it yet, I'm on the old spec so we started with the play (la casa de Bernarda Alba) but you've got me looking forward to the film now! I think with languages you just have to continually expose yourself to them- reading news articles, listening to the news and writing summaries in the language, pen pals etc. I got As in French and Spanish last year and I can say it just takes practice. Don't get disheartened if you don't get As in your first writing and speaking assessments- it's not only the language you have to get right, it's the new style of exam technique. My French teacher openly admits that he purposely lets us fail at the start so that we then listen to him and take on what he says. Honestly, you're like the dream student. Putting in the work from the very start is how you succeed. There are students who won't start working until about April so you can count on them to lower the grade boundaries! xx

Having gone through college and gotten to university I can very much relate to how you feel. Alevels are all new to you, and you really are still just finding your feet. You will notice as you go along that it gets easier (particually at A2) to know how to manage your time and revise, as well as what revision techniques work best for you. I stuck with most of my revision techniques from GCSE but a lot of people had to change things up. Your doing so well so dont panic!

Hii, I have finished A-levels and now at uni! Not going to lie it is hard but you will get through it, it went soo fast for me. I did all essay based subjects and to get a B at the beginning of A-levels is amazing, most people I know at A-levels dropped around two grades. If your worried about getting the grades don't stress, as long as you get enough to go to what you want to do after then it doesn't matter (I say that I can understand the pressure to do well when your in the middle of it) however most people at my uni got well below what they needed to get in. Good luck!!!

it's genuinely possible to learn everything i promise! i'm in my first year at uni and when i was at your stage i was freaking out about all the content but once you step back and plan your time (which i know you can definitely do having watched your revision videos before!) it'll all be put in perspective and you just have to get through everything and make sure you know what is the key information and what is the context! seriously i stressed out for the entire 2 years at sixth form especially because of the pressure of getting the grades for university and it wasn't until results day that i realised i was fine all along - if you know your stuff you'll get the grades! i was expecting like abd or so thing after sitting the exams but i ended up with a*aa and i couldn't believe it! you'll absolutely smash it eve don't stress too much :-)

I finished doing my A2 exams in the summer, but I totally agree with all the stuff about English Lit. The abilities of the English Lit classes were very mixed ability, but for me it was quite a shock because I was an A/A* student (for English that is) at GCSE and I just struggled so much at A-Level. I didn't end up doing it at A2 because it just wasn't working for me 😪 also amazing that you're doing politics! I did aspects of politics in AS/A2 history (I did the making of modern Britain for my course!) and wasn't interested at the start but by the end I loved it! British politics is my favourite so I've got my place at Newcastle Uni to do politics next year (I deferred a year) good luck with everything! 💕

Hi Eve, I'm in year 13 at the moment and DO NOT PANIC about the amount there is to learn! When I was in at the stage you are in in year 12, I felt really overwhelmed by the volume of information to learn (I did English lit, geography, RS and Drama) but it is possible to learn it and come out with good grades, especially somebody like you who is really good at revision technique. English lit is a tricky one, but just make sure you keep on top of making revision cards for quotes when you can and don't feel disheartened if your grades are lower than you were expecting. The quotes really made me feel anxious last year but when it came to learning them, you know more than you think and in the exam you don't have to write it exactly - you can give an overview of what it says if you have a blank! Sorry for the long comment, but I hope that helps you feel reassured :)

I'm in year 13 eve, and honestly it seems really bad now but you can do it. Just make sure you actually do the revision which obviously you will and the exams are not as bad as you expect, it seems a lot when you're learning it but when you have finished the course and go back to revise you'll realise you already know a lot! Just try not to stress because you will be okay!! Xxx

It seems impossible at the beginning of year 12 that you're going to know everything by the end but honestly it's all fine!!! I'm in year 13 and everything worked out! But yeah English lit is v hard at the beginning....I would recommend making like a mini book of quotes now instead of doing it all at Easter 😘

I am currently in my second year of A level English Lit and I totally get you, my grades went the exact same route as yours, however I am making slow progress and my teacher apparently believes Im going to make it to an A, so have faith, work hard and don't overthink it. I also found it overwhelming to learn the quotes and critical quotes, but I picked a bunch, memorised them and I didn't have trouble at the end of year exam with forgetting them or not having a quote to apply to a point- I hope you enjoy it more as the year goes on!

I am in year 13 at college and I agree that there is so much more freedom and the banta with teachers is great ahah! I definitely think that you can learn it all for your exams, my year is the first to not have AS levels counted towards A level so if you mess up its not all bad news as you retake them all the next year anyway x Good Luck with you'r exams lovely x

I'm currently in year 13 studying business, English language and English lit and at the beginning of year 12 I was already wanting to drop out. I hated it! I thought I'd made such bad decisions with the subjects I chose, I barely knew anyone in my lessons and I just couldn't get my head around some of the things we were learning. Now, I'm pretty happy with my chosen subjects and I don't hate it as much. English lit is definitely the subject I don't like the most. I'm studying Emma, an anthology of 12 poems, twelfth night, the importance of being earnest, the kite runner and the handmaids tale and I have a three hours mock in a few weeks on ALL OF IT. It's the most time consuming subject for me as it's just constantly reading, redrafting coursework and making notes. Despite this, it does feel pretty great when you get an essay back to find out you haven't done too bad. I feel like the way you're going about A Levels is definitely the right approach, I regret not spending my frees last year doing work - instead I walked around Durham and did some shopping. Not good for my brain or my bank balance! You're making life so much easier for yourself and I'm sure you're going to do great. At the minute I'm attempting to juggle homework, revision for mocks, coursework, note making, a part time job, driving lessons, my UCAS application and a blog and I'm stressing like mad. This video has definitely made me want to write a blog post about how I'm currently finding A Levels as I feel like I would've loved watching the type of videos before going to sixth form back in year eleven X

I finished my A levels this summer and got AAB in English, Maths and Biology. I felt overwhelmed at the start of y12 with the volume of content but it is possible. My main advice would be do not feel like you have to continue 4 levels in year 13, it is 100% NOT worth it, Universities only want 3. A fourth will not give you a higher chance of getting an offer, its more important to have an amazing personal statement (thats a fun thing to do at the start of year 13 along with all the work :) ). All that happens if you do 4 A levels is uni's will probably offer you a space based on all 4 and it puts so much pressure on. Focus to three i cannot stress it enough!!! I really wanted to continue all 4 but exam time is so stressful theres no way I would've got the grades I did if I had done 4. Have fun though honestly, sixth form years were the best years of my life!! Good luck xxxx

I'm in Year 13 and you do learn the content in time for AS. At my sixth form we had a technique for Y12 revision leave, we had to spot our areas that we hadn't quite understood fully and work on those and that really helped. Also you do actually know more than you think you might!

Das Leben der Anderen is one of my favourite films :D I'm about to graduate from university but still watch your videos about school and revision because the British school system is quite different from the Italian one, and I love to learn about those differences. Also, I studied applied languages and international relations at uni, while you picked politics and languages for your sixth form, so I feel like we kind of like the same subjects. I don't know why I just told you this but, yeah. Have a nice day, Marti

But it's totally possible to learn it all! Honestly, start revising by christmas it will help SO much more when it comes to your AS'. then taking it on to A2's you'll have the information cemented more. Also, 100000% drop a subject at A2, life with 4 A Levels on the go is basically impossible! Good luck!! x

Hey Eve, I just finished year 13 at the end of June, it is possible to learn everything but my main tip is revise all year around, if you start doing light revision in the beginning of the year then it's easier when you come to the exams. Also I took English Literature and I got sooooo stressed in my last year that I completely screwed myself over in the exam so I'm retaking my exam again this year. Don't stress over it, there's no rush to finish A levels in 2 years, stay sane my love x

It is manageable trust me, I'm currently in my 2nd year at uni. A levels are challenging, but you need to devise a schedule of revision, so what subject to revise at what time. Yes, there is a lot to learn but if you're doing it as you go along and coming back to it you'll be fine! :)

I'm in year 13 now and it will work out how you want!! Just make sure you go over your work quite a lot and it will stick in your mind. It is really tough and you do get stressed but the most important thing is to have a lot of sleep and give yourself time to relax as it will reduce your stress. It is unlike GCSEs where I stayed up revising for hours and only got 5/6 hours sleep - A Levels you need a LOT more but you will get there!!

It is possible! I got 2 As and one B (one mark of an A!) at AS and to be honest you seem to be working a lot harder than I was haha. I feel that the jump is stressful but after a while in year 12, it becomes a tad more bearable 😂. Year 13 is stressing me out as most of my subjects are linear (two years worth of content in my exams this year YAY). But if you make notes as you go along you will be fine! Good luck xoxo

I'm in year 13 and trust me when I say this, you can definitely feel the change in revision and pressure wise as you're wanting to get the grades for your top uni (if you're going). I completely agree with you and having that relationship with teachers!! You can honestly talk about most stuff you wouldn't be allowed to in GCSE of lower down in the school. I'm studying Media Studies, Photography and English Language and it's quite good tbf but you do have to keep revising. When taking exams, I'd say for the hour before the exam, just do something to relax your nerves, but like don't make yourself forget everything.

My A-levels were a bad time for me. I constantly was in tears and didn't understand the high level of work- I ended up dropping out. I'm now finding the university level course I'm doing so much more achievable!! Don't be discouraged if you feel that Post-16 is not going well for you. It really feels like the end of the world, until you find your new path.
