And he's right, feminism and modern leftism are products of socialism and marxism (yes, it's the same thing, stop whinging, commies) and they plague us to this day and cause the worst and majority of the modern world's problems: -unchecked immigration -breakdown of relationships -the failure of the institute of marriage -social upheaval -women becoming masculine -men becoming feminine -men and women hating each other I could go on for days.

Yeah, while I wish the A bombs hadn’t been needed they really were the best option at the time. While the outcome would have been the same regardless the idea of invading the main islands of Japan would have probably been an insane endeavor that potentially would have cost more lives on both sides. As for the USSR, they definitely played a factor in our decision to use the bombs also. I firmly believe that the bombs ended World War 2 and kicked off the Cold War.

There's a book called the Japanese destroyer captain and it is written from the perspective of a Japanese destroyer captain and he specifically talks about how there was a coup attempted on the emperor and that is one of the reasons why it took them so long to surrender. The emperor wanted to surrender after the first bomb. But due to his generals in Tokyo he was unable to because he was locked in a bunker.
@travisspuhler7065

Yeah... the original plan was to surrender to the US, and use USSR as "neutral" mediators in the peace treaty negotiations. August 8, the USSR declares war and kicks shit off. The semi-sane assholes in Japanese command realise "ohh fuck, all our static defenses are facing a US invasion, we can't defend both sides" And the insane guys were all "well fuck the emperor guy and we are gonna take charge of everything!"

The nukes were their best option in a list of shit options. It’s always a difficult subject because it was a difficult choice. But aside from the political motivations regarding the Soviets… there was truth to the idea that they were choosing the lesser of two evils. I used to ask why they couldn’t demonstrate it, but they barely got Japan to surrender after leveling two cities, and there were still efforts to destroy the emperor’s surrender message. The Allies and the Japanese themselves calculated deaths from a land invasion of mainland Japan to be in the several millions. It would have been essentially an extinction of Japanese culture because of the way they felt about surrender and the lies they were told about Americans. They threw their own families off of cliffs and blew them up with grenades before surrendering. The bomb shock to leadership really was a less devastating option in terms of immediate loss of life. More people died in firebombing attacks. It was a horrible thing to do, but it was set during the most pivotal and catastrophic war in human history. Ethics were lower on the list of priority and there was no good choice. Only the least bad one. War is hell.

Truly, a real life example of 'lesser of 2 evils'. I remember 1 documentary saying that the loss of life to the Japanese in the event of an invasion would've been around 10 million, as opposed to the - at most - half million who died either immediately or later bc of radiation sickness.
@TheLastArbiter
@TheLastArbiter 4 месяца назад
@@danielr3149 exactly. In our timeline, Japan healed and became a close friend and celebrated beacon of expression, economy and industry. Emperor Hirohito was even left in power to preserve the Japanese culture and help them feel safe that America would not destroy their civilization and what was important to them. They felt that this would help give some trust, compared to if they executed the emperor (who was essentially a god to them) many Japanese may kill themselves or never work with us.
@CyberNut930
@CyberNut930 3 месяца назад
Vs the other option that would have ended with half of Japan being communist for the next 50 plus years with their culture destroyed and their emperor being displaced because no man is allowed to be above another…..unless you run the party then you can take whatever you damn well please. Funnily enough, is there anything more capitalistic than figuring out a way to make an entire population of people work for you while making them think that they work for the greater good of the country?

On top of dropping two atomic bombs, it took the Japanese until September 2, 1945, almost three weeks later to officially surrender to the United States and Commonwealth Forces in Tokyo Bay. From primary source material, those three weeks were insanely tense. The Americans continued to be alert right up to the moment the Japanese signed the surrender documents on the USS Missouri. Another thing, I don't know any other nation that would drop millions of warning leaflets over Japanese cities before and right up to the atomic bombings telling the civilians to evacuate for their own safety. Also, both Hiroshima and Nagasaki were legitimate military targets, including their war industry, headquarters, and the fact that the civilians would have been fighting the Americans and Commonwealth Forces had we invaded the home islands.

Hirohito made a second speech to the armed forces where he never mentioned the bombs, stating that the reason Japan had to capitulate was that that they were fighting far too many enemies and the Soviets entry strengthened that coalition against them. The bombs used in his first speech were both a political and moral move to portray his country as the victim. The Japanese hoped Stalin would be an intermediary between them and the allies for the better terms, the USSR war declaration dashed those hopes. The leaders didn’t care about the nuke on Nagasaki due to being more focused on the Red Army’s assault on Manchuria, in fact the Japanese public were being given instructions on how to prepare for further nuke attacks.

I’m gonna have to argue on the tank statement, mainly because tank warfare is already as finicky as it is. Depending on the Sherman variant, whether it has a 75mm or a 76mm or a 105mm Howitzer, 5 Sherman tanks could absolutely get stomped on by a German tank. This is also inversely so for German tanks, exemplified by the one story of a KV-2 fighting off a German platoon by itself for days. It is also very possible for 5 Sherman tanks to rock a German tank as if it was nothing, except for egregious examples like the Tiger and the Panther due to their construction. This is not to say they are invincible, but the tanks are still very well designed. At the end of the day, it comes down to armament and crew, and we here at America were really, really, REALLY adamant that we didn’t need 76’s for like, the longest time. The Brits however had the right idea, and used their 17-pounders, thus making one of the best tank destroyer-esque tanks in World War 2.
@demomanchaos
@demomanchaos 2 месяца назад
"Very well designed" yet the Panther was objectively one of the worst performers in the war and the Tiger really wasnt that much better. On paper they sound great, but with so few built and the fact they went through transmissions faster than a company of Brita goes through a kettle of tea led to them being dropped immediately. The Tiger, Panther, and Me262 all were dropped right after the war yet the Sherman and Mustang saw official use by militaries around the world even into the 80s.
@NaturalGarethFan
@NaturalGarethFan 2 месяца назад
@@demomanchaos You are correct, and further research has told me similar results and has changed part of my views upon German tanks. The Tiger 1 was a hodgepodge job made for the war with reused parts and weaponry, even with the whole contest on which design was better. However, it still did withstand the tests of time during WWII, to the point it invoked fear upon silhouette, which I would have to give points for. As for the Panther, it has never been a tank I have had much interest in so a lot of my info is second-hand via stories and game info, which is finnicky at best. However, if you want a classic of engineering prowess and utility in German tanks, look no further than the early Panzer tanks, such as the Panzer III and Panzer IV, which were also used well into the Cold War by countries other than Germany, one off the top of my head being Spain. These tanks were versatile, efficient in both cost and maintenance, and were made into strong variants such as the StuG III assault gun.

Now were in this Country and some on the right are banning classic books. Mostly a dig at Desantis in Florida but other States are following suit. If someone wants to make an informed view you need read all you can both right, left and in the middle and then still take it all with a grain of salt.

I always cite the death toll in the Philippines to make the point that the bombs saved more lives than they took. More than 300,000 Japanese soldiers died in the Philippines. 80% of that was due to starvation because they refused to surrender. If the US had to invade mainland Japan it would have been a self imposed genocide. Japan exists today because we dropped the bombs, not in spite of them.

For Real, Hiroshima and Nagasaki recovered shockingly well after the war. My family and I actually took a taxi and our driver took us right where the blast occurred. Perfectly safe, and in fact that particular street looked really nice, shops and everything. We also visited Nagasaki on another trip where we had a cab driver that survived that particular bombing. And he knew we were American, but he was about as gracious a host as you can get.

Notice how The Fat Electrician says "Nazis burned books" but didn't mention which books.

To put in perspective as well, the Japanese empire was killing 225,000 civilians across the Pacific every month as America was pushing through the Pacific, this was another factor in Americas decision to try and end the war quickly using the bombs

Its funny people say we dropped the bombs because of the soviets "unexpectedly" attacking japanese holdings in manchuria when in reality the US specifically asked the USSR not to renew its non-aggression pact with Imperial Japan in 1945 & to join the conflict in asia.
