That was a great explanation of the workings of the oxygen concentrator, exactly what I was looking for. Thank you so much. You did a great job, and I am now better educated.
@@pkonkir The idea is that increased oxygen level in inhaled air could eventually increase the oxygen level in your blood (however little, it may still make a difference in an edge case), similarly to how those nasal O2 "sprinklers", used as breathing assist. Also, if there's a respirator already with an O2 port, then you'll need an O2 source to feed it. And concentrators may just fit the bill there. Haven't verified any of this yet tho. I'm just in the sate of "1st-minute Apollo13 alertness" (2nd best thing to just panic :) ), actual (also Apollo13-is socks & plastic bags type...) R&D is yet to be done. And your buyers were most likely at the same stage, too. :)
This is a good one and seems to be a decent place to buy it (there is also eBay): www.dotmed.com/listings/search/equipment.html?key=RESPIRONICS%20Millennium%20M600&description=491&fbclid=IwAR1BGEEdXoAo2odm8L51aomTJuDglGUSbcloHH0zrCTGQa1WbF6XHMHOpBo
@@corlfranco9371 it's a molecular sieve, the nitrogen, CO2 and argon won't pass through as quickly as oxygen, so gets vented after the small batch of oxygen goes into the accumulator and then into the product tank.
Less complicated & less expensive parts than in a window air conditioner (only a small 20.5psi compressor). The Zeolite in the canisters has gotten a lot cheaper over the past decade. So why are these units still selling for $2,500-$6,500 in the USA, while they're only $250-$500 in the rest of the world? Is the USA health care system price-gouging?
One of the richest men in the town I live in is a supplier of home medical equipment for Medicare. It is ridiculous how much profit there is in this equipment, sometimes 1000% profit - all paid for by your taxpayer dollars.
Yes they do, when the purity level drops below 88% the sieve beds do go stale after time as well. I am looking for a couple of new sieve beds for a simply go that only has 280 hours on it. :(
Hello Sir, I have a philips everflo, all works well, green light, pumps air out, but no oxigen concentration at all! What can the fault be? Zeolite tanks need to be changed? Is this an operation i can do myself? Where to buy or haw to replace the zeolite? Or is the problem other stufff?? I can't send it to you because I am in Spain. Thank you! Regards
Great video. However it said the argon gets filtered out by the sieve bed. It actually is concentrated along with oxygen and is the reason you can't get 100% oxygen. The best you can get is 95% oxygen and 5% argon.
Yes, water vapor, carbon dioxide, hydrocarbons and nitrogen are adsorbed. Argon and oxygen are adsorbed to a lesser extent so most of it makes it through

I have a 10 lpm concentrator for exercise with oxygen therapy (Millenium m10) but the highest flow rate it will go to is about 4lpm. What would cause the machine to not reach 10lpm? I have another that works just fine, and will adjust from 0 to 10 lpm. Any help or suggestions is greatly appreciated. Thanks
here we have a hose here we have a semiconductor here he have cIrcuits here we have a metal plate... omg just say vent intake, compression, fusion, electrolysis, separation filtering and storing or whatever the process is
ok, the filter there is facing out, is that the way it goes? as having trouble with my supplier. have Invacare perfecto 02...now the flow open on top of the filter that is facing out, closed for mine or open? They were placing the platinum only ones in, just got out of the hospital, as the only thing they check was the oxygen flow, and the fan went under the machine and scorched my floor, also sent me into the hospital. took 10 days to get them to even understand?...mind you the guy has a sinus infection, and fingers the filter and his nose, no mask, no gloves. used more alcohol pads cleaning it. did have a good company for the last 14 years, but the under bid for the contract, now stuck with this company for the time being. thank you...need info please.
Could really use some help , anyone please... I have a DeVillbis Drive 525S...anyways the yellow warning light has started to flash back and forth from the green light. I washed the foam filter on back and that didn't work , so I purchased a replacement intake filter and installed it yesterday...now it's worse and machine sounds a little louder.☹️ Advice please...can't afford another cpap right now and have stage 2 Emphysema.
Hi Alfred, I think you need to contact Devillbis and change the molecular sieves, performance may drop already, so oxygen purity is not enough. Yellow light means purity below 82%. Chaning the intake filters won't be helpful
What do these machines do if they're left to run in a confined space? assuming that they detect that they have markedly reduced supply of oxygen to concentrate, and excess concentration of nitrogen as well? Do they alarm if this happens, or keep cycling the nitrogen in and out even after the availability of oxygen is gone? Thank you.
These machines put out 750ml to 5 liters per minute. There's 28 liters per cubic feet. There's 800 cubic feet in a small 10x10 8 foot tall room, or about 22,000 liters. 4,500 liters of that is oxygen. It would take 900 minutes (about 15 hours) to use up the O2 if the room was totally air tight with a 5L per minute machine. You shouldn't be locking yourself in a 10x10 airtight room if you have breathing problems anyway. However if you must, they come with long hoses, so just run the hose to the room, & keep the machine in another room.
The machine doesn't use o2. it separates it and vents both the o2 via the canula and the nitrogen via the exhaust back into the room where they recombine. You could run the concentrator in a sealed room forever and not change the o2 level of the room. Its interesting though to think of this. If you had a room where there was a serious chance of combustion you could seal it, run the concentrator in it, and have the o2 hose port into another room. No o2 no combustion problem solved. Maybe not very efficient but could work, especially for long term situations.
@@flyingsodwai1382 Correction: You could "run it forever" *IF* no person was breathing in the O2,which is not the case. Interesting the idea of filling a room with nitrogen for fire-proofing (no O2),but i guess rooms are difficult to completely seal off.
I just found 4 of these units next to a dumpster at a medical oxygen supply company. The cords were cut off. I brought them home and opened one - thinking that they cannot be too difficult to service. are they worth anything to someone who services them? Maybe you would buy them? I thought about calling your number but assumed you get too many calls giving out your number here.
I work for a dme comp. Please dont use these machines if cords are cut, they're cut for a reason contaminated somehow hazmat, animal urine, feces, etc...
Hi Buddy I have a friend of mine who is in Peru and asked me for a piece SP5932-4-SEQ for his Eclipse 5 Auto SAT, a technician told him that that electronic board is damaged but i guess is not because the equipment when is at 6 l a minute stops working and gives a Fails 91 which is a compressor overheated, Do you have an advice what to do in that case, i really appreciate your attention on this one thank you
So I bought a couple of these for my daughter she does glassblowing.... Is there a way for me to bypass the pressure relief or to pressurize an external tank so that you can keep up with the volume that she needs for her burner..... I service laboratory equipment for years so if you have any schematics that would be helpful I would be able to understand what you're talking about.... Nice video thanks for the explanation... Look forward to your feedback
There are high volume, low pressure systems out there, which consist of a holding tank, a compressor, a bunch of concentrators and a relay box that shifts the cons on, when the pressure in the tank gets too low. They can be DIY'd though I'd reccommend taking a look into HVO (High Volume O2) - www.highvolumeoxygen.com
if the room where I slept is not ventilated for a whole day, then the device still has oxygen? I mean ... if there is no air or oxygen in the room, can the device produce oxygen or does it just concentrate only the oxygen in that room?
Yes call the dme company who provided the equip. They will have special tester to make sure it's doing the job. And should be changing filter regularly
We use a Salter Labs Pro2 check elite to measure oxygen concentration at work where I repair these units. they are crazy expensive though and they have to be recalibrated every day to stay accurate. you need a cylinder of pure oxygen gas with a 2 liter per minute regulator to do the recalibration.
Lovely video. How does the oxygen sensor work? I have a O2 concentrator which does not have a O2 sensor (concentrators with 02 sensors were not available) and I am therefor never sure what is the amount O2 the machine produces.
The easiest cheapest way is to get one of those tiny O2 sensors that clip on your finger to show the O2 in your blood for $10-$20. When you use the machine, the O2 in your blood show go up if it's working properly.
@@PSKResearch Hi there. I see from your comments on this video that you're fairly knowledgeable about o2 concentrators & components. Any chance you could share a playlist or other resource for someone looking to build a functional concentrator from components? Thanks.

At subway you can build your own sandwich! Its really great! I normally get a footlong carved turkey with lettuce tomato onion banana peppers provolone cheese with a hint of southwest sauce and some parmesean toasted and a chocolate chip cookie.
That's what I was thinking. Not for medical oxygen but to weld. First thing is a good source of Zeolite and solid containers. With the price of oxygen this looks like a great project. It is way safer than the hydrolysis of water.
Where do the others gases exhaust to the open air? As in, all the gases that are not oxygen. Where do they exit the machine? These would be going out into the room right? It would diminish the air quality in the room. Hmm. Maybe oxygen machine are just AIR concentrators.
as long as the room isnt vacuum sealed, there is a constant cycling of breathable air column. unless youre located in the international space station, of course!
I have quite a number of these units and was wondering if you ever need any of the parts inside. I've broken down a couple and plan to look over the pumps to see if they need a rebuild kit. I might completely refurbish some and sell parts from others. Thanks for the video!
what do you think the problem of my concentrator, its sounds bad and at the same time white powder comes out maybe through its filter im not so sure...do i need to buy a new one or can buy o2parts for replacement???
+Janice laru-an Hello Janice. The white powder is most likely a seal leaking in side the sieve beds, allowing fine particles of material to escape out of the exhaust of the concentrator. You can purchase a set of sieve beds and install them your self. This will stop the white powder from coming out of your unit. If the unit "sounds bad" ,,, The compressor might need to be rebuilt. I would have to listen to it in order to be certain.
+C.R.S. Concentrator Repair Services Inc.+ hi...i ship back the unit to the service center of the company where i got it ,after 5days they called to inform me the unit was fix already, no charges coz no changes of parts,i asked what happen??what's the reason??why there's powder?they didn't tell exact details..i must aware coz my husband used the machine 20/7 ..he diagnosed bronchiectasis since 2010 and been used 02machine for 2years... after repaired he used it only within 7days,,same problem again but this time its worst ,,my husband not feeling well,,spitting a blood due of continous using the machine w/out of knowing that he got not pure oxygen....i felt so bad ,.i ddn't call the company coz i know there's nothing i can do,everything was happened already...i search in internet sievebed was not available here in the philippines..i look for some new items online so very expensive..anyway can you please help me what to consider or know some facts when buying this thing....thank you for taking a time with my problem, and im sorry of my grammar ,im not good in english....thank you sir

Ok i was just trying to repair these machines for my father.....he needs constant use.....but main problem i found doing these service works..( excuse me arab nomad from desert)....is the product tank...yes that guy is a baddass.....because pressure sensors directing solenoid valves and also switching timers from pcb.....should take their descisions from pressure sensor mounted on the product tank.....this way we wouldnt care about anything else...but the pressure given to the zeolite....
The Zeolite in these traps the nitrogen from the air under pressure of 20.5psi, but allows the O2 to pass through. There are only trace amounts of hydrogen in the atmosphere. Your easiest source of hydrogen would be through the electrolysis of water (H20).
Also where would you get hydrogen to concentrate? in our air there's only 500 PPB. That's B for billion. That translates to .00005%. It'd take (and i am guessing) decades to filter out enough to be usable.
Basically when you concentrate, it means to shift the element like from gas form to liquid with condensation to make a stronger/larger percentage in a area of it in one mass. you can't actually make elements by concentrating it/Generate. So it doesn't actually "make" that element it just releases it from its current state. So really only something like the LHC actually Make things/Generate more elements. So while you can Generate electricity you can't Generate more gold. but you can concentrate more of it together in a larger mass from smaller bits.
$2,500-$6,500 in the USA. $250-$500 in the rest of the world... it's how the USA expensive medical system works. Everybody gets filthy rich off the desperate pain relieving or life saving medical needs of the consumer. There's only $100-$200 of parts & materials inside these.
