Lavender flowers are very tasty in lemonade. And the prunings can be laid in garden around veggies to keep pests away.👍🏻🙋🏼‍♀️

I have five different varieties of lavendar. The French type is better in cosmetics/skin care and makes a lovely bath, just steep in a big pot and put into the bath. English type is better for culinary, I put it in my tea, with bergamot. Lavendar is one of my favorite plants!

@@micahlouise9539 oh, ok; I use that in my earl gray to bump it up a notch from double to triple bergamot. So a couple T spoons of lavender & a few drops of bergamot? Dry or fresh lavender make a difference?

Brian, I have a huge lavender plant in a planter box about 3 feet off the ground and the bees absolutely love it. But my 15 year old Australian Sheppard mix will spend hours under it, it shades her and she loves the smell. She will come in covered in lavender! That is her happy spot in the yard. So I do not trim it much, just the spent flowers and in a few weeks there are more where those were.

I have too much ADHD to create very many traditions, but one I love every year is going outside on Thanksgiving morning to harvest sage to saute with onions and celery for the turkey stuffing. The whole house starts smelling like Thanksgiving as soon as that sage hits the frying pan.

I use mine almost exclusively to make lavender Arnold Palmers. Half black iced tea, half lemonade. When brewing the tea, I add one teaspoon of lavender in a tea ball per bag of black tea. This will be my second season of growing, and it already looks like the harvest will be much bigger this year.

I live in west central MN. Lavender here is treated as an annual, although, I had one plant come back 4 years in a row before a very cold winter, froze out the roots. I love the smell and the color but not so hot on the tea. I didn’t know how to prune any of the plants shared today so thank you for this video. I have marjoram, thyme and sage that do over winter, most winters. Good to see how to prune those plants. Thank you again.

Lavender is one of the ingredients in some Herbs de Provence mixes, (in North American blends). Rosemary, Savory, Thyme, Lavender, Basil and Oregano. Some include also: Marjoram, Tarragon and Bay Leaf. I'm currently two herbs away from making my own, (Marjoram and Savory). I may have to buy plants on those. Might be worth drying some out to make your own mix.

In Oregon the evergreen Grosso has run amock along the front west retaining wall because it doesn't like being pruned back hard to "mound". It likes to have a hole in the middle of big and woody branches like sagebrush on the prairie! Tried multiple pruning throughout the year. Tried once a year. Results are the same. Freestyle, all over the place branching. But you can't beat the fragrance and nice long stems for weaving in ribbon for sachets.
