How and Why a US Billionaire is Building a $400BN City
Bjarke Ingels is designing a new city for American entrepreneur Marc Lore. Announced on social media on September 1, 2021, the city, named Telosa, aims to set a global standard for urban living. The plan is to build it from the ground up on a 150,000-acre site in the US, which is currently being scouted. Telosa will eventually house 5 million people and seeks to expand human potential, serving as a blueprint for future generations.
Lore amassed his wealth through savvy business deals, selling Jet.com to Walmart for $3.3 billion in 2016, and Diapers.com to Amazon for $545 million in 2010. He plans to fund a significant portion of the $500 billion project using his own resources, while also seeking contributions from philanthropists, government grants, and private investors.
The proposed city aims to redefine urban living with features like indoor farming, energy-efficient buildings, autonomous electric vehicles, high-speed transportation systems, and a novel land ownership model designed to reduce the wealth gap, which Lore refers to as "equitism." In Telosa, the land would remain under city ownership, allowing individuals to build and sell homes. As the city expands, the increase in land value would funnel back into the Telosa foundation, with the profits used to ensure equal access to healthcare, education, parks, safe streets, and efficient transportation.
Lore is considering Utah as a potential location for his new city, Telosa, along with other states like Nevada, Idaho, Arizona, Texas, and regions in the Appalachians. His decision hinges on various factors including economic and regulatory policies, regional taxation, industry and workforce dynamics, energy, food, water, waste management, climate, infrastructure, land availability, and livability.

I think this city should stay out of the Colorado River Basin. I think they should look to build in Idaho or Oregon

Trains? Buses!? No. Just more corporate fluff buzzwords like "high speed autonomy vehicles", "green power" etc. America has 2 major issues: transport and food. Most socio economic issues America faces could be addressed if it confronted these 2 problems.
