Thank you for the information! The only caveat to higher voltages is the fact that most power supplies are not regulated so rail voltage increases hence the higher output. Most transformers are wound 1:9 to 1:11 with rail capacitors ranging from 160 to 200 volts. Unfortunately, most end users do not know this and then blame the amplifier was faulty when the 24N40s fail.

so you use 14.4volt batteries ......... 1. what chemistry gives you that voltage and 2. how you gonna charge them?

1.theres a LOT of 14v options, including AGMs and Lithium, as well as ultracaps. 2. with an alternator?

Standard alternators charge at 14.4-14.8V. Do you need special alternators to keep 14.4V batteries charged?
@CarAudioEnthusiasts
@CarAudioEnthusiasts 2 месяца назад
most factory alts until recently charged about 13.5, some newer ones CAN charge at 14.5 but they are controlled by the computer, and typically charge at 13.5 to save fuel.

@@CarAudioEnthusiasts Hmmm... I installed a 220A HO alternator that I'm pretty sure goes up in the 14.5 range, but thought my stock one was similar (1993 Integra). Might have been mistaken. Haven't completed my system yet, but I have a JL VX1000/1i, an JL HD600/4 for my mids and an ARC audio KS300.4 for my highs. (I have a 10 speaker JL C7 component array for my non-sub reproduction)A battery and Cap combo you'd recommend for this setup?

I'm considering a 370 amp alt for my 2002 tahoe. Power an agm in the spare spot under the hood. Amps to be run, pg xs 6600, 4300, 2300 and 2 2500. Stock will stay the vehicles 130 alt and agm. Sufficient? Third battery in back?

put a supercap somewhere in the system, makes a huge difference!

LiFePo4 and dual battery isolator or DC-DC converter my dude. Much less voltage drop under load, less weight, and more capacity per cubic inch.

So do you suggest a higher amp alternator and 12v battery setup? I have the big three and everything is 0 guage wiring. With a stock 130 amp alternator and stock battery and a 12v 100ah deep cycle in the trunk. My voltage always stays around 12.5-12.8 except when that deep deep base hits its dropped to the 10s. So what do i do? Upgrade my alt?
@CarAudioEnthusiasts
@CarAudioEnthusiasts 2 месяца назад
yea, you need to. but first you should get an ioxus ultra cap, it MIGHT cover for your stock alt, but even if you still need an alt upgrade, that ultra cap is still worth having.

Nicely put this also is true in any electrical application even your home electrical. The electric company charges you by the amount of amps used and not voltage and the higher the voltage the less amps everyone always assumes that 220 v cost more to use in reality it's cheaper. It pulls half the amount of amps then 110v no matters what it is. Most people don't know that A car amplifier is actually a very high voltage they have basically a built in transformer the only reason a amp is 12-14v is so your car can actually power it but its stepped up in the power supply to a lot higher voltage to power the actual amp board. Sense the income power on the income is at a way lower voltage the amps that are pulled is pertty high usually 100-300amp . A amplifier would be extremely small if it didn't need to transform the power the currect voltage to the amplifier board.💯👍✌️🤔🫡

Your are full of crap! The Power Meter on your home measures *both* volts and amps. You are billed per kilowatt-hour consumed, not per "amp". Where do you get such stupidity?

Hi @ CAE. I want to ask about running multiple battery system. I heard many different veiws. So I have 1 batt (bosh) in the engine bay and 2 batt (odessy) in the trunk. what would be the bettery way to connet the system. 1 wire front batt to rear batt and 1 wire alt to rear batt? or should I just run 2 wires from front batt to rear batt? All AGM battery and stock altinator. also running dual imputs into my B2 5000watt sub amp. Would there be a voltage difference in any way?
@CarAudioEnthusiasts

2 1/0 gauge wires from alt to front battery, then 2 1/0 gauge wires from that battery pos and 2 1/0 gauge negs to rear batteries. and connect the rears with 1 or 2 1/0 gauge pos and neg each.

So I'm running 12v agm system @ 60ah (subs) with stock alternator 14.5@ 90amps and rear agm @ 22ah (highs and mids). The lowest they get are 13.2 at full tilt for short times (street driving). After a while it'll kick up to 13.7 to 14.1. I know I need more ah. My question is.. does this seem to be a good setup until I get more storage or should I get H.O. alternator next? Thanks
@BrianWaller-qe7gr
@BrianWaller-qe7gr 2 месяца назад
Setup is decent but most amps will put out their most power over 14 volts. So you’ll definitely need more battery or ho alternator to get the amp to be most efficient
@johnmedeiros8975
@johnmedeiros8975 2 месяца назад
You're getting voltage drop then technically...even if it is somewhat minimal. Upgrade the alternator and have that fucker pinned at 14.7 during full tilt and watch the difference. You don't want to damage your amps man.
@CarAudioEnthusiasts
@CarAudioEnthusiasts 2 месяца назад
yes, you could do with a stronger alternator AND a big 3 upgrade to handle the increase in amperage.
@joelnlala11

Thanks for the response. I'm waiting on the Ioxus supercap to be delivered to see if that helps... I'm saving for the ho alternator hopefully buy it next month for my bday. And after the alternator I'll add more battery. Or vice versa depending on funds. I'm sooo ready to go full tilt. My system is skar rp 1200.1d for 2 nvx 12s on nvx dsp , double rock(skar copycat) 150.4 for 4 polk 6.5db coaxial, soundigital evo 400 for 2 boss tweets( they're actually loud) and a scosche 4" center speaker. Marts 6ch dsp on mids and highs. Yes 2 dsps... 6channels wasnt enuf at first.

@@joelnlala11 the supercap will stabilize the voltage swings well, and will help support large voltage draws on big bass notes for a short time, with a bit of recharge time before and after.
