Excellent video. Just got my 12k major service, bike is running great! Can’t wait for some cooler weather once October gets here.

Thanks Pete! Glad to hear you were finally able to check that service off the list. We’ve cooled down a bit these week, so I’ve tried to get out and enjoy not sweating in my jacket after 5 minutes as much as possible. 😁 Whereabouts are you located again?

“Hi I’m Chad” - dude this whole time I’ve been reading it as “him Chad” 😂😂 I do have to add that APRC is the most advanced ride control system next to the R1M. It is no where near like “every other manufacturer”. I had a Gixxis 1k with traction control - most other manufacturers don’t use an IMU therefore it’s a basic “keep wheels spinning the same speed”. With ATC, you can slide your way around a corner, potentially exiting the corner with much greater speed. It’s really incredible what they’ve created over at Piaggio 😬

I had someone call me hiim once as a joke, and I totally fell for it! 😂 Glad that helped make sense of my username Carlos 😁 From the research I have done, aPRC was revolutionary when it was introduced back in 2010, but has fallen behind the curve in recent years. Yamaha, BMW, Ducati, and even Honda all seem to have incorporated IMUs and surpassed Aprilia’s technological capabilities. Something interesting to note is that while Yamaha developed their own proprietary rider aid system, Aprilia’s relies on a Bosch system. Ducati and BMW have done something similar but had more influence on the tuning of their rider aids than Aprilia has. So while Aprilia’s is indeed much, much better than the old rudimentary “if one wheel is spinning faster than the other, something is wrong” systems, it doesn’t seem to be the best on the market anymore. However, it still works quite well for us. 🙂

@@hiimchad yea for what we do it's more than enough. But in all of the reviews I've seen (I watched a ton lol) the Aprilia is only ever bested by the R1M, and marginally so, while every other manufacturer is not even a close second. The Tuono is really the perfect bike - and note that the only fair comparison there is between a Tuono and a Yamaha is the *R1M* and not the MT10 which is inferior even to the Tuono R. The RSV4 Factory is a closer comparison, but the R1M does best everyone else - I mean Quartararo leads races by seconds, and the R1 is the slowest bike out there! But for me it's Aprilia all day :D

@@carlosm9111 Hmm in the naked bike category I suppose you may be right. The only other bike in that class that remotely compete with the Tuono in terms of features and technology is the Streetfighter V4. I suppose I was thinking more big picture and comparing the Tuono/RSV4 to all the other super bikes in the RSV4's class, which really just goes to show how incredible it is, and the fact that it is still the top super naked. 😁 The other superbikes have taken steps beyond Aprilia in terms of rider aids, though, which makes sense being Aprilia last updated theirs in 2017 (unless the 2021 has improvements, which I have not been able to confirm) and all the other manufacturers did so in 2020. I highly recommend watching this comparison, as they go into intimate detail and ride the bikes hard enough to really get the electronics working: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-yJSKmn4ooNg.html

Hi Chad, another accurate and clear explanation of features on your beloved Tuono. We are now in Covid lock down again for the sixth time and we are the world record holder for a State in lock down days anywhere in the world. Of course it is Melbourne, Australia. We are in lock down until November when the vaccination level should be over 70% and restrictions may be eased. This is a record we don't want to hold as we only want to ride motor cycles without a 5 km radius from home restriction. Very, very frustrating. I hope this never happens to you guys & gals in the states.

@hiimchad 3 года назад
Hey Doug, glad you enjoyed the video, and I'm sorry to hear about the struggles in Australia. I'm hoping you guys can get back to riding more than 5km from home as soon as possible (hopefully long before November). Things have been alright over here so far, but cases are spiking, so we will see. I have tickets to MotoGP over here in October, so hoping we can hold out until then. 🤞

Nice explanation Sir👍🏻 My RSV4 Factory on 'Track' mode all day long, ABS = 1, AWC =1 and ATC = 5 when I'm on track and it suits me fine, but some guys at the track wind ATC right down to 0
@hiimchad
@hiimchad 3 года назад
Thanks Gio! Glad you enjoyed 🙂 I run my Tuono with the Race engine map, ABS 1, AWC 1, and ATC 4. I used to run ATC on 3, which I did on my last Tuono that had Dunlop Q3+s, but with the Pirelli Rosso IIIs on my Factory, it is easier to break the rear loose. Are the guys turning off ATC at your track on slicks? Or at least the Supercorsa TDs? That's the only way I could even consider being comfortable without TC. I would probably still run it on 1 or 2.
@verdeboyo
@verdeboyo 3 года назад
@@hiimchad Hey Sir, funny enough yes they were on slicks. I'll be switching to Michelin Power Cup 2s from my Super Corsa SPs which have been absolutely fantastic with tyre warmers, professionally retuned suspension trackside and front/rear 29 psi/26psi cold. If only I could ride 1/10 as good as Biaggi then I'd switch off everything and wind that beast right up! Thank you so much for your reply 👍🏻
@hiimchad

@@verdeboyo I figured, I'm nowhere near the fastest, but I am a very competent track rider and amateur club racer, and I can't imagine trying to ride my Tuono with the Rosso IIIs and TC off. 😂 Let me know how you like the Power Cup 2s once you've had the time to put some miles on them! I'll be looking for tires in a couple months, and I was leaning towards Supercorsas, since they were standard on the bike and I've never ridden them before, but am somewhat open to other options. You're very welcome! Thanks for watching, and it's been a pleasure chatting! 🙂

Thanks for making all your Tuono videos. I have a bike just like yours a 2018 model. Maybe you could make a video about the fuel cut problem and possible solutions if any? At least I have that problem. Most noticeable in first and second gear. I think many Tuono owners have this problem.
@hiimchad
@hiimchad 3 года назад
Hey John, thanks for watching and glad you’ve enjoyed! I don’t have a fuel cut problem that I’m aware of. I think my bike runs quite well, even in first and second gear. Can you elaborate?

@@hiimchad I wonder if it's an EPA can issue... I "vertually" removed mine, as you advise as well and have never had that issue with my 2020... Also a BrenTuning flash and Acra made a substantial difference in power across the board.

I've been thinking about getting a used Tuono but I've heard a lot of them have issues and get right much shop time, other than your fuel cut have you had any other problems with your bike?
@hiimchad
@hiimchad 3 года назад
@@vpweber Perhaps! Glad to hear you were able to "virtually" remove it without issue 😂😁 I'm running the Aprilia Race ECU flash, which I don't think adds much power, if any, but throttle response and power delivery have seemed great to me, so I haven't really considered changing it up. 🙂 Glad to hear you're enjoying your Tuono!

I'm interested to see what John has to say, but to add to the conversation, I have owned two Tuono's and have run up about 8k miles between the two. Neither have given me any problematic issues that required shop time! I did have the dash firmware update to fix an odometer issue where the bike would add .1 miles for the first 5-6 feet the bike moved, but other than that, it's been a joy to own. 🙂

great videos mate.I have just bought a '16 Tuono factory, loving it and ready for another year. I went out a couple of days ago and had some real misfiring/lurching issues at speed. I thought it was bad fuel but saw that ATC was wound up to 8 when I got home, now this makes me think that may have something to do with it...hope it is that simple ;) for fastish road/Sport riding what would be your ideal ATC ABS AWC settings?
@hiimchad
@hiimchad 2 года назад
Will do! Thanks for watching! 🙂 In my experience, TC is very invasive at level 8 and will cut in going straight across painted crosswalk lines in 1st gear with only 30% throttle, ground and paint totally dry and warm. I have been running ATC 1, ABS 1, and AWC off as of late on Pirelli Supercorsa TDs, SC2 front and SC3 rear. I think these were the settings I used at my last track day on the bike, maybe TC was up to 2. Does the 2016 have adjustable ABS? I thought it was just on or off.

@@hiimchad you will know more than me about the Tuono,I have the old style clocks and little room for changing settings compared to the LCD version,so probably ABS is fixed,I have AWC off at the moment so will try ATC on 1-3.Just bought a set of Supercorsa's to replace the Metzler it came with, which are squared off and lack tread.Thanks for the advice and keep on keeping on!
