There are waterproof makeups for the body that actors use when they are supposed to do scenes where their characters don't have tattoos! I hear that they are absolutely amazing in coverage.

Yamato shipping also has the most adorable black mama cat mascot, and I still remember the TV commercials from when I was a kid "Kuroneko Yamato no!" -- IIRC they had kiosks around Japan that dispensed free cat-themed swag!

Crappy Japanese TV will always be "I have a bad case of diarrhea" to me... I do miss watching old school taiga dramas, though! I rewatched "Dokuganryuu Masamune" recently (with Chris' homie Watanabe Ken) and it was SO epic! Also "San-pun Kukkingu" -- my mom used to laugh at how terrible some of the dishes were. I remember some of the commercials from the 80s and 90s had really good music that legit slapped.

Dear curious Chris and perspicacious Pete, This has been another extremely informative and thoroughly entertaining episode. Now, you might be wondering how I assessed the quality of the entire episode that's only been published 16 minutes ago. That's because I already listened to the podcast yesterday whilst doing my dishes and I am here to drop my obligatory RU-vid view. It's definitely not because I don't have any friends and functional social life, so I just consume a copious amount of content on the internet to mitigate my existential dread. And yes, bring back the bears! Thank you, Sayantan.

There needs to be a new rule in podcasting. Playwright Anton Checkov said if a gun was on a table in the first act, it needs to have been used by the end of the play. Podcasting rule: If Pete talks about his silicon jelly legs repeatedly before he goes to Japan, he needs to invent a story about how he rubbed them together and the static caused a conflagration that wiped out 16 onsens, rather than: "Oh, I just didn't like them." It's like opening a Christmas present and finding a £2 Amazon voucher from your nan.

Dear Chris Creme and Pete Dementhe. I am a solo Ramones Tribute that just visited Japan from September 13th to the 27th. The first bar I visited was the Rock Inn Dice in Shinjuku because I was playing there later on in my visit. I sit down at the bar, order a whisky coke and a guy sits down next to me. What does he order? Creme De Menthe. I had a blast doing my show at several bars around Japan and even busked in Shinjuku. If you are a musician, I would highly recommend visiting Japan and trying to get some gigs. Most clubs have backline of amps and all the drums I have seen are in good condition with good cymbals. There is an open mic in each major city and all you have to do is sign up in advance. You can easily play all over Japan and not just in one city. I played in Fukui and even went down to Matsuyama. I mostly stayed in capsule hotels and there was always a guy snoring in the next capsule over. I had Lawson's chicken and steamed buns and I would say they are equally delicious but steamed buns work for better for breakfast, so they are more versatile.

Generally the reason why you keep hearing that voice is because I believe it's Chris Peppler! Peppler is the guy who presented Tokyo Eye, and yeah, he does a lot of voice over work for NHK on other programs too. I do believe PremierTwo Pete has been on Cool Japan before, so this might have been a re-run. Chris's trainer Nick was also on NHK too, he used to present a cultural trends program called Imagine-Nation with Chiaki Horan. Sadly NHK axed the program in 2020, and there's not been anything like it since. NHK seems to have something of a lack of appreciation for programs made for international audiences, even though that's the point of the NHK World channel 🤔

I don't think Japanese TV is bad, and I'd say it's pretty much like everywhere else in the world: it has good an bad programs. I'd say there's comparably more propaganda-ish stuff on TV though. Like the "Japanese things are special and unique" kind of propaganda. NHK World's "Cool Japan" may be a great example where the whole show is basically like that. The thing is, for someone who knows Japan fairly well, this show can become just really weird, but for someone just likes Japan a lot but only knows it superficially, such a show could be quite convincing. And some topics can be interesting, but the way it's delivered just feels weird - at least to me. But NHK has some good documentaries etc. too, so it's not all bad. I have to say the way they do the voice overs is indeed pretty funny and your imitation was great! That bring said, there are some great and funny shows I like watching when I have time, but naturally there are also many other shows that are not so great. About the robots at schools: I think Japan is often full of useless ideas that don't solve any problem. Instead of bringing in robots, maybe they should rather address the root of the problem. Anyway, great podcast again :)

"Fun" fact: I noticed that Chris and Sharla follow polish youtuber Krzystof Gonciarz who lives and vlogs from japan. I would like you to know that now he is going through rough "cancelation" process on polish side of youtube because he was proven to sexually and verbally abuse, manipulate and blackmail his partners and many young photomodels in japan, do drugs and give them to young women... in general and a lot of dark shit...recommend unfollowing him :)

So carnivore is actually legit, it's just a lower carb version of keto. You actually get pretty much zero gas! Veggies and grains tend to give gas because your body doesn't absorb/use them up like it does with animal products. So you actually only need to do a poo a few times a week, because there's hardly anything to get out of your body since the body uses almost all of what you're eating. And no constipation either! Carnivore is super anti inflammatory, and has helped so many people cure things caused by inflammation. Check out Dr. Berry and Dr. Berg if you're curious! Always thought Chris would thrive so well on keto or carnivore, since he could literally eat as much yakitori, meat, cheese etc as he likes! You're also never hungry because the protein and fats satiate so well, and cholesterol, heart health, insulin etc actually improves 😊
@DubhghlasMacDubhghlas
@DubhghlasMacDubhghlas 6 месяцев назад
enjoy your scurvy There is no clinical evidence that the carnivore diet provides any health benefits.[2][12][13] Dietitians dismiss the carnivore diet as an extreme fad diet,[2][3] which has attracted criticism from dietitians and physicians as being potentially dangerous to health (see Meat § Health).[10][12][13] It also raises levels of LDL cholesterol, which increases the risk of cardiovascular disease.[3] While carnivore diets exclude fruits and vegetables which supply micronutrients, they are also low in dietary fiber, possibly causing constipation.[3][5][17] A carnivore diet high in red meat increases the risks of colon cancer and gout.[5][19][20] It complete BS.
