HOW BAD IS THIS API CHANNEL STRIP? UAD API VISION 

I use this all the time. I'm new to your channel, so you may have covered this, but in UADs DAW 'LUNA' you can mix through a Studer Tape/API vision strip built into each channel then all your busses have API summing and API 2500 buss compressors built in. Apart from a Reverb send, you don't really need any plugins.

i was mixing with PA SSL 9000, which is really nice, but damn....just did a comparisson in a whole already mixed song, and this one is a beast! not so flexible as the SSL, but who cares? I value more is the sound we can get just cranking the preamp alone e some brush moves on eq, and the EXP/gate module is great to tight things, comp is very usefull, pay attention to the att different times, fast is splashy dirtier, slow mode is very very punch and clean, just set to a couple 3db and it really does something to bring mid lows front!

I have this , but only use the Softube American Classic since I got it. Have not compared sound directly but the user interface is just so much nicer on the softube plug. Plus it has built in transient shaper and some other features.

Love every piece of it. It gets rid of noise floor like magic!

Bloody love this one. Mic pre drive plus graphic eq = drum buss sorted.

I love this channel strip. Been thinking of doing a mix with this channel strip, API bus comp, and P455 by Pulsar Modular. Definitely took advantage of UA’s recent sale and plugin alliances as well.

I used to hang to brands but now I just use what works for the mix and don’t care about what brand it is. I love the API stuff but use whatever does the job.

Nice review as always. I had the trials of both UAD and PA / Lindell versions to compare and very close. Bought the Lindell on a super sale price.

I use this for vocals when using my apollos all the time.

I wanted to like this one but it seems a bit visually overwhelming. I'm waiting for the 500 Series to be available in native form.

Was more please with the waves api suite version though I never felt really disappointed with any UAD product to stay true

You can wait for them to go on sale for $29.99 or Buy the whole UAD Signature Edition on sale for $299. I'm waiting for my next interface upgrade to though. My iD22 is holding up nicely. But will upgrade to either a: -Zen Q by Antelope -Ensemble Desktop by Apogee -Babyface by RME or -Apollo Twin X by UAD.... Choices..choices... and uad already comes with some plugins

I love the MIC pre on that thing, I only use it for when I am making sh1ty FB videos but it makes me sound like a radio host hahahha....

So the accepted wisdom of gain staging to 0 on -a 18 calibrated VU meter into analog emulation plugins is actually not the best way to go. I checked my own analog plugin collection using a tone generator and their internal VU meter and that zero point varied all the way from -20 to +4
