I like getting used manga. It's cheap and most of the damage is barely noticeable. I do remember getting one book that had a lot of the pages folded down. It was easily fixed by just unfolding it and stacking books on top to just apply pressure.
I once bought used manga, it didn't have any damage... Then I bought the next volume from a small manga store, it was cheaper than the used one and looked even better
I've found out that the chances of finding cheap volumes in good shape is to buy in bunch. If there's the full collection of the series, or even a good part of it, chances are it have been owned by a collector who have took good care of it - compared to a random reader of a random volume from a random series. Also, the price per volume will usually be way lower if you buy a lot of them at once.
I think the reason why they made the One Piece Volume 3 manga a bit more expensive compared to the other two manga was because what you bought is the golden limited edition one 🤔
@godlynoob1462 It's the same with my local library as well unfortunately when it comes to Manga . Alot of the pages are damaged or dented. Even yellow as well. 😭
Manga that I can't find at the local bookstore I usually buy from Amazon. I make sure to buy them New since the quality's just fine, great even (might have a rare tiny tinge or ink smudge on some pages, but nothing horrendous). Wasn't a manga, but one time I bought a "Used, Very Good" book from Amazon. It arrived and looked like someone had stepped on it with so much wear and tear on the cover and spine. Sent it back and became adamant on not making the same mistake again.
Ngl all of my manga is almost used manga from Amazon cuz they are so cheap and it’s so much better for the environment Yk and I love them!!! They never failed me
I usually grab any used manga I can find in local thrift stores (not much because I live out in the country), and I've found Beyblade manga with the plastic part of the paper cover peeling off, ripped covers on various manga, and the occasional pristine condition but it's a later volume of an obscure series so I need to find the earlier books now.
If I ask my school library to have some manga to keep would they let me? I don’t see anyone at the manga section so it makes kind of sense right? They have a decent variety of manga like Naruto, full mental alchemist, etc. also they have some recent volumes of boruto there too in really good condition
The reason the one piece one isn’t in good condition is because it’s a gold foil , which was printed years ago , the reason it’s good is because they don’t make them anymore so you got kind of lucky
Having yellow'd pages isn't a Bad if its an old movie, plus its smells sooo good. That Book probably has more History then a lot of mangas will ever have
I bought a used World Trigger volume 2 from a local library and it came with a plastified cover and a label on the front, and an imprint of a code on the pages (as in, from the opposite side of the spine). It was so wack that I never tried to peel it off. It's just too funny.
To be honest $5 for that One Piece volume is quite lucky. You might not have noticed but that One Piece volume is the special Gold Foil edition which is worth a lot of money even if it’s not in the best condition.
I swear I can’t tell if I got a used copy of JoJo volume 12 ( it’s the Japanese edition) But it says its print is from 2000! And the pages are very yellowed compared to the other volumes I got being whiter and being printed more recently
When I order new ones on amazon they come damaged because their packagings are ass ive only done it three times so far and never gonna order Manga there again
@@BaileyBlaze There was some weird damage on my Vinland Saga volumes when I ordered them from Amazon . It was only about 3 pages and the rest was in good condition. But those three pages weren't even on together all the way. If that makes sense . It looked like it was half pasted on and the rest of those pages were barley sticking together . I never had that experience when I brought the first 4 volumes. But for some reason volume 5 and 6 came in like that. Has this ever happened to you? They were supposed to be brand new not used on Amazon .
@@BaileyBlaze Another Manga I bought was at the bookstore, it was supposed to be in perfect condition but for some reason it was dented and bended on the cover . It could have been worse so I can't complain too much. Atleast the inside of the pages are in perfect condition. The Manga is called The Horizon. Idk what it is but some people are terrible when it comes to stocking up and packaging Manga online for delivery and in some bookstores. I just found it odd that it was in that condition since I was in a bookstore. The Manga is supposed to be atleast in good condition not damaged. I wish they sold old Manga as well. Unfortunately some releases of older Manga are out of print and are hard to find . Sorry for the tangent . Atleast I have a copy of it .
I really hope that mine isn’t that bad cause I’m getting my first full Manga set of Kimetsu no Yaiba for my birthday but my dad‘s buying used on Amazon it says it’s in really good condition but if it’s anything like the one piece I will be disappointed
I'm sure it'll be fine! 99% of manga I've gotten used has been amazing and that One Piece volume is the only one that was bad. Happy birthday and I hope you enjoy the Demon Slayer set!!
Bro my local library is the hookup. So much BRAND NEW manga to read. And the librarian said they have more one piece coming in. I checked out the 3in1 volume of one piece today
Like I have said in other comments, I don't give two shits about the yellowing or it being "archival" it was how it was listed on amazon... which was wrong.
Dont diss the volume 3. Mangas expensive and that book is readable and terribly dented plus was cheap! That works seeing how expensive that would be first hand.
@@BaileyBlazeIt should have said good not very good, if you check the printing that volume is probably like 15+ maybe 20 years old. It's not very good, and for anything from the last decade it's definitely poor, but since it's probably from the turn of the millennium it's in pretty fair condition.
