weezer did this all over blue and pinkerton. if you hear the bass tracks for some of those songs, it's super saturated and fuzzy with enough treble to blend into the guitars, which is what gives them that insane power

Saw this in another youtube comment but when people say they "cant hear the bass", chances are they can hear it blended with the guitar but dont know it. EDIT: its from "DownUFO" on the "bass in metal" video.

It's one of those things that, once removed, becomes very noticeable. I think your ear just takes a little longer to develop the ability to pick it out right away, unlike something more obvious like a vocal or guitar.

The bass is more important than the guitar. Because the bass is the foundation that makes the guitar sound better. Kinda like the bottom of the cheerleading pyramid.
