How Big Will The DLC Be? | Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree

One of the most concrete pieces of information that we received from the initial round of trailers and interviews for Shadow of the Erdtree is the fact that Miyazaki estimates it to be about the same size of Limgrave, maybe even larger. We can work with this, so I set out to do some basic analysis of Limgrave's size and density in order to speculate about the amount of content that the DLC could provide us.

I personally feel, based on what Miyazaki has said, to be even denser than Limgrave. More variation on the size of legacy dungeons, less open spaces, and definitely more challenging. Regardless, I also like to think I have intelligence as well, so I could be wrong for setting my expectations where they are, and I would be fine with it. I will say, I have never heard of a Soulsborne game with underwhelming DLC, so that is a very good track record to have. Looking forward to throwing big ass pots.

I do remember something about them reviewing the way they do density for the DLC, in order to make the field and the lesser dungeons to become more seamless. I honestly think that they did a good job in the base game so, if they are able to improve it, it will be incredible. I look forward to what they show us. Furthermore... He mos def said this. He talked specifficaly about the transitions from open world to dungeons being not as defined in order to promote more options for playstyle and the way you can approach things. Even more than the game had already provided.

Nicely done, Frowny. I haven't seen any other speculation videos done in this way. But then again, that's what makes your content uniquely enjoyable. If I recall, there were some comments by Miyazaki that they were looking to refine their approach to the world and improve on density. I think it's reasonable to expect at least what we got in Limgrace, in terms of content/depth.

I remember reading something about this. They were attempting to improve the open world in the DLC by making field and dungeons transitions more seamless. I honestly think they already did a good job in the base game so any improvement over the existing system is welcome. Thank you for your comment and kind words.

​@@FrownyGamingI think its because Miyazaki said "area of limgrave", so just the size of it. We see in the trailer that it has ALOT of verticality, its not even close to limgrave in these aspect, its so much superior

@Zayn_Bass Sure. Semantically speaking, I agree with you. That being said, I do not think that anything said so far should be taken so literally. The reason I say this is because that would mean that Miyazaki is not taking into consideration any underground areas or possible sky islands. Not doing so would mean that there are none of these (which I would find hard to believe) or that, since he does not take them into consideration, the total size of the DLC will be much larger than Limgrave. Focusing too much on the word might lead us astray in its meaning. Typical situation of "so much tree, you missed the forest". In cases like these, in which speculation is rampant, I choose to be optimistic in regards to content. Reality will soon provide truth.

Nice. Glad you broke down the numbers like you did. I was wondering how much stuff was packed into Limgrave when I first heard Miyazaki say the DLC would be comparable to it. Thanks for another great vid!

I felt that it was the only to get a clear outlook on the possibilities of size. Since we can't exactly measure the area, it is a good idea to go by the amount of content that we can expect. After all, density is more important that physical size. Thank you for your comment.

This is the smart thing to do. Expectations must be tempered. I like to speculate based on the information available, but it is completely with the understanding that I won't be disappointed if my speculation is not true. It's part of the game. Regardless of how Shadow of the Erdtree releases, I will play it. And then, I will pass judgment. Thank you for your comment.

I believe Miyazaki casually humbles himself and dlc area will be even larger than limgrave and more packed ofcourse

This is a possibility. Another viewer mentioned that Miyazaki initially said that Elden Ring would take about 30 hours to beat. Fast forward to today and we now know that a first playthrough is AT LEAST 80 hours. Incoming 40 hour expansion. Thank you for your comment.

It took me over 40 hours to finish Limgrave the first time around. I think it's safe to assume 30-40 hours of the best Fromsoft has to offer. Great vid btw, earned a sub! @@FrownyGaming

To this we add that it is a ''Limgrave'' of endgame content so everything we encounter will be designed with the endgame in mind. Advanced magic, weapons with high requirements, extravagant ashes, etc.

9:11 to expand on the number of bosses you've pointed out here, it's worth mentioning that Elden Ring as a whole has 165 bosses in it total. Considering there are 40 bosses spread across the whole of Limgrave (according to your statistics), then roughly 24.2% of Elden Ring's bosses can be found in Limgrave. That is almost a quarter of all of the fights that are in this stinking game, dear lord

Something similar happens with Ashes of War. If I remember correctly, there are about 90 Ashes of War in the game, and 31 of them are in the Limgrave sector. That's 1/3 of them. It is clear that Elden RIng frontloads the initial equipment drops in order to give players as many early-game options as possible. This is part of why the area of Limgrave feels so good. Miyazaki originally said in and interview that Elden Ring would take about 30 hours to complete. fast forward to release and it takes on average 80-100 hours on the first playthrough. i think his estimation for the DLC volume is a bit humble, i expect the shadowlands to be bigger than limgrave. Also the DLC is 40$ and it would be logic for it to have at least 20-40 high quality dense content

Interesting breakdown. I think it would be fascinating for you to return to this video after the DLC is released and see how close (or far) your predictions were from the actual content.

I honestly feel like MMiyazaki may be underselling the size of the DLC map a bit, Like I think it's gonna be somewhere well between limgrave and liurnia, but denser than either of them. But at any rate this is just pure speculation and it's not worth worrying about these things just yet.

You are right, Miyazaki already showed us how much he underestimated Elden Ring's play time. So far, we only know what he said about it being near the size of Limgrave. Admittedly, that is a large space, but we don't really have much more to go on. Thank you for your comment.

One of the things that I think is glossed over from the interview is Miyazaki said he didnt want to giving away to much info. If you look at the trailer and the screenshots it appears that we are looking at the erdtree from the ocean. My guess is the vial is masking the area as ocean between Limgrave and Lyndell. If that is the case, it would be just slightly larger than Limgrave.

Miyazaki also said there will be multiple legacy dungeons. Those are smaller when it comes to the overall area, but content-wise are the most dense. Imagine Limgrave, but it has say two more Legacy dungeons besides Stormveil. There's also the stuff he said about more mixed areas, where there is more gradual separation between open world and Legacy dungeons.

I assume that there will be multiple legacy dungeons in the Land of Shadow. Limgrave has Stormveil castle, and I guess Morne Castle is like a legacy dungeon too. I can imagine a similar system in Shodow of the Erdtree. One important legacy dungeon like Stormveil, and then a few lesser ones like Morne. Thank you for your comment.

@@FrownyGaming Oh my bad, I thought only places with Remembrance bosses are considered Legacy dungeons, Stormveil, Raya Lucaria, Leyndell, Volcano Manor, Farum Azula and Elphael, but apparently there isn't a consensus on whether or not stuff like Castle Morne or Caria Manor count as well

Don't get me wrong. I honestly do not know if Castle Morne can be considered a legacy dungeon. But it is certainly larger than most of the other regular dungeons that we find. It's like in an in-between spot that makes it weird. Generally speaking, what you said goes. I was just thinking that maybe there could be other legacy options, even if they are a bit smaller.

I think someone on the subreddit already made a post where they showed the promo screenshots & trailer alone shows 2+ massive Legacy dungeons & multiple smaller castles. Not to mention all the different types of biomes the trailer had & 8 brand new weapon categories. Lets say each category has 5 weapons & that's 40 weapons Idk how would they fit all that in just Limgrave

As I mentioned in the video, Limgrave has over 250 pieces of equipment that players can use. Most of these are weapons (about 80) and armor (about 80). There are also 31 Ashes of War and 26 Talismans. All of this is supported by a total of 40 bosses. I feel that this is a good amount of content and that, if the DLC gives us another 80 weapons and another 20 sets of armor, alongside more ashes, spirits, and talismans, it will provide us a lot of content. If Limgrave can fit these already, why would the Land of Shadow not have it? Thank you for your comment.

What I feel people do when thinking about future expansions, DLCs or an add on, in regards to how big it will be in comparison to the current world is: You typically only consider where you can place it on the current map. (Similar to how Blizzard uncovers Azeroth) When it actuality if you think in more 4th dimension, you can make a huge area that is only accessed through a magical portal that takes you to a place like Farum Azula for isntance(which can be seen on the map) but not actually on this worldly plane similar to how they added the underground areas and in this case how we will most likely access the new DLC from the cocoon. The cocoon acts like a portal to a unearthly plane. When thinking like this, the future expansions can be huge and much different it looks and style. I mean you can put all of the Fromsoft titles together and the world would feel seem less.

Well, it was already confirmed that the DLC area is completely separate form the Lands Between. It is called the Land of Shadow and it has to be accessed through Miquella's cocoon. After accessing the Land of Shadow, we can travel back and forth between it and the Lands Between through normal Site of Grace fast travel. So we understand that it will be a completely separate location. Judging from this, its size and density can be anything that FromSoft wants. This video is just an estimation based on the current content offered by Limgrave. Thank you for your comment.

So fromsoft just announced there will be over 30 soundtracks for the DLC. Original soundtrack had 67. 4 tracks were for the title screen, character creation, opening sequence, and credits which the DLC won’t won’t have. 26 ambient tracks including the Radahn festival and the harpy song. And 37 battle tracks which include bosses. So Erdtree is looking to be around half the size of the main game give or take which is massive. That info along with the 40 dollar price tag, the development timeline, everything regarding its size is telling is it will truly be big. We for sure know a good amount of those will be area and dungeon themes, let’s say maybe 10. Maybe five new mini dungeon / boss themes. What’ll the rest of those 15 be since mini bosses will most likely share the same music? 15 remembrance bosses?!? All speculation of course but that certainly is a big soundtrack for just DLC.

I'm not a Souls vet. Elden Ring is the only one I ever finished but I believe I heard Miyazaki has been known to undersell their DLC's. With the file size of the expansion being as big as the base game, there's no way the playable area will only be 17-25%

Other viewers pointed out to me the size of the DLC and I just can't believe it. 60GB for an expansion sounds nuts. That's heavier than the base game. In any case, I will never say "no" to more content. Bring it. Thank you for your comment.

i think is larger and denser than limgrave, because we have map behind the shadow of the erdtree, as in the base game (moutain tops of the giants) and we got in the dlc same thing, In the trailer we can't see what's behind the trees and that's why there must be something very interesting

This is harder to determine. When we have Limgrave to work from, we can make some educated determinations. That being said, if we are talking about total map size based on the existing map of the Lands Between, we need a bit more details to go with. I don't think that the Land of Shadow will be as large as the Lands Between. As awesome as that sounds, I don't think it feasible. Thank you for your comment.

Another thing worth mentioning is that the DLC is priced at 40 dollars, which is 2/3 the price of the base game. Given the price, I'd expect that Shadow of the Erdtree will be quite large in scope. Your estimates may well be on the conservative size.

While you bring up a good point, I have to say that it might be a mistake to use size as a measure of value in regards to the price. I think that, in order to gauge the value of the $40 price tag, we need to wait to see the amount of content that we get. I believe that, in this case, density is more important than size. Once the game releases and we get to see the amount of sheer content, I will be judging to see how heavy the $40 are. Thank you for your comment.

@@FrownyGaming Sure, I was thinking in terms of density as well. I was just saying that given the price point, the map is likely to be more rich in content than Limgrave. The expansion has been in the works for over two years, after all. I'm expecting it'll be quite a feast😁.

Co-oping as a Holy Hands Hank build right now, fighting up close feels good so far for a lot. Helping folk and punching everything and then going into boss rooms and using spells. I’ve got the Radagon icon to speed up my casting and I’m only in the 70s, so I will probably get more powerful as I go along. Still, being a run-and-punch holy Wolverine is fun!

I started a new playthrough recently, and Limgrave took me about 12 hours to complete, not counting Stormveil Castle or the large underground areas. I'd say that's a useful measure of how big the DLC could be at the minimum.

@@FrownyGaming I just completed all of Stormveil including Godrick, and a small leftover from Limgrave. I'm at 14.5 hours. Mind you, I've already done a lot of playthroughs of this game, so I know where everything is and rarely die to anything. That speeds things up. Plus, this is still without the Sofria River area, as I like to keep that for later, and of course without the whole underground area unlocked after defeating Radahn. So 25 hours does seem quite right. Certainly not too high an estimation.

same conclusion i had after Miyazaki's interviews: around 20-30h of content, which is excelent in my book. But i have this weird feeling that it will surpass my expectations because of the density it will have. Every DLC so far, except The Ashes of Ariandel, impressed me a lot with both the quality and quantity.

Miyazaki specifically mentioned that they were working on making area transitions more seamless, specially between the field and the dungeons/legacies. This should help avoid it feeling force. The last 2:30 minutes of the video made me like you immediately lol. I too expect big things from the DLC but if my expectations arent met that's ok as well. I dont know why, but i think that the dlc will have a underground and sky map. In regard of Bosses it would be better to have fewer but better bosses 25 good bosses would be great

1st elden ring run was 180 hours , all bosses and side dungeons done and just a lot of exploration and enjoying myself I also died alot to main bosses. Was my first souls game , I have now played as every class I love the game and played other souls like

I have a suspicion its going to be way larger than what Miyazaki said. Great video, puts everything into a context and make me guess the REAL size of the DLC :D I just do not believe it took them over 2 years to make "just" a Limgrave sized map. 2 and a half years is enough for a standalone game, let alone DLC. I think we are going to be at awe the same way when we played ER for the first time. As you mentioned, before I knew there was more than Limgrave, Weeping Peninsula, Stormveil and Caelid, I have spend over 30 hours in Limgrave alone, thinking thats the whole game (which I was satisfied with considering the amount of content in all those ares combined). Cant wait!

Another viewer reminded me of when Miyazaki mentioned that it would take about 30 hours to beat the base Elden Ring. My first playthrough was 105 hours long. It is completely possible that this mad man said "as large as Limgrave" but, on June 21st, we get half of the game again. Thank you for your comment.

He also said that development only started on the DLC after work on patches died down. That might mean it didn't truly start until after the colosseum update, which was released in December 2022. It's possibly the DLC has only been worked on for a little over a year at this point.

@@FrownyGaming Good point, I hit roughly 70 hour mark around getting to Atlus Plateau :D (I had no clue how big the game was so I squeezed the content out as much as I could). Also, it wouldnt be the first time he "lied" about something regarding his games, he also mentioned he wants to keep players from getting their fun spoiled, and I believe him. Remember Sekiro. It seemed to be a just a ninja game but oh boy, how quickly that escalated into a wicked magic shit. Hes a keeper! I am even sure my high expectations will be surpassed, because FROM always delivers, even with their smaller games. I wouldnt be surprised if its a size of Bloodborne (that game kinda small, but packed), because I doubt we will see another instalment of ER for a very long time.

Off the top of my head, I believe there are about 100 Talismans and 90 Ashes of War in total. It's interesting because Limgrave already has 30% of the total Ashes of War. I guess they frontloaded it to give the player more options in the beginning. The game is huge and there are always new things to discover. Thank you for your comment.

I'm managing my expectations a bit different. I use previous DLC as reference. Of course Shadow of the Erdtree is the biggest expansion. That was to be expected given the pricetag. But how large it is? Simple. It's probably as large as DS III DLC combined which both were sitting at 20 bucks each. The Ringed City and Ashes of Ariandel combined deliver as about as many bosses as Miyazaki stated will be in Shadow of the Erdtree. Which were: Gravetender Wolf, Sister Friese, The Demon prince, Halflight, Gael and Midir. So these were 6 main bosses. Following modern Elden Ring design, encounters such as Vilhelm, the resurrected Dragonslayer Armor and the Midir bridge battle are will end up as open field bosses. So sum these up these and you got yourself the 8 - 10 bosses. Which leads me to believe that there will be fewer mini dungeons and more large scale dungeons instead which tbf is a welcome addition given that we are endgame players by the time we reach this place. So I don't take Limgrave and it's density as reference point.

My issue with elden ring, especially with Luirnia was the area not having much in them, the game is huge but especially Luirnia was too much open space, mostly the water areas. I hope the shadow lands are more densely packed and we aren't riding Torrent for 2 minutes straight before we meet an enemy

This is interesting. I thought that the world was appropriately populated. It was packed like a dungeon, but there was enough going on to keep me entertained. There are many locations, we have the night-time events, and structures to explore all over. That being said, there have been mentions that they were going to try and tighten the world up by making transitions between the field and dungeons more seamless. Hopefully you find it better. 3 complete surface level Legacy Dungeons, 3 field bosses, 3 regular bosses, 13 armor sets and probably minimum 60 new weapons (if every armament class (33+8) gets approximately 1.5x amount of new weapons) are kinda guaranteed. Bet we will have one Farum Azula + one Leyndell (above and below) equivalent of legacy dungeons in a single continent. I also expect almost no repetition but variations like a possible horned runebear and a boar riding sentinel ones.

As to the price of the DLC, I can't really say much. It is what it is. Now, as to trying to justify that price tag? The biggest variable is density. You are talking about a bigger map but, as I mentioned in the video, Limgrave has over 250 pieces of equipment that we can play with. Out of these 250, around 80 are weapons with another 80 being armor. Limgrave has 40 bosses in it. If FromSoft is able to pack the Land of Shadow with as much, or more, stuff than Limgrave, the $40 price might be merited. Of course, we will have to see. Thank you for your comment.

So let's imagine the DLC is a third of that, 16Gb - which would probably still be huge (probably much larger than Limgrave at least), in my mind. That’s already Elden Ring itself. The only ‘unique’ bosses in the whole game are: Rennala, Radahn, Rykard, Morgott, Fire Giant, Hoarah Loux, Maliketh, Placidusax, Fortissax, Malenia, Radagon and Elden Beast.

Doesn't matter its size to me, I'd rather quality over quantity any day. That being said, Miyazaki has a prominence of understating his thoughts about the games details "base game is 30 hours", yes if you only do the bare minimum to complete it but most players are near the 100 hour mark so Shadow of The Erdtree might be just as long. For anyone worreid about the size, consider Haligtree/Elphael. On the map, it looks like a very small area. But because of how layered it is, it takes hours to explore fully. Limgrave looks to be around 7 times the size of the Haligtree, so if the DLC is just as layered, we are in for a treat

Based on new leaks it's around half of the base game's size. One source said there will be over 30 new songs. Another one said it's roughly the size of Liurnia+Caelid+Mountaintops combined.

I mean unless you stacked 80 points into vigor , it looks like you’re around 200 + RL If I’m mistaken, allow me to clarify. Way to many players are over leveling, ironically calling their level 250+ character a “build”. Because of this phenomenon ushered in by the massive new player base, FSW had to create the new level up system to offset that. It’s like children eating too much cake and FSW acting as the parents, have to step in and fix the situation before everyone makes themselves sick. People use the open world to optimize the living shit out of the game as become so OP that they are able to steamroll the entire game. So yes, FSW identified this issue and was forced to fix it so the dlc would not be trivialized for so many new players. I just can’t help but laugh when people say “let us play how we want” ignorant to the fact that there is an intended experience, and all I’m trying to do is guide people as close to that experience as possible. Human beings are programmed to optimize the challenges and cheat themselves for what they perceive to be an easier more enjoyable time. Unfortunately they don’t realize they’re robbing themselves of what the game really offers. Which is why FSW had to step in and fix it for them.

FIRST - My HP in this build I am running 60 Vigor (second Soft-Cap) alongside the Crimson Amber Medallion +2 and the Erdtree Favor +2. It totals to about 2100 HP. Best part is, this isn’t even my final form. The footage is of co-op. I can’t use a Demigod Rune. In single player, adding Morgott’s Rune, I can reach 2600 HP. My dear viewer, when I play Elden Ring, I’m going in with a clean bill of health. All my builds are uploaded to this channel. RL 150 on all of them. Feel free to check them out. SECOND - The intended experience I believe you are terribly misguided. The only intended experience that FromSoft develops is FUN. Is it fun? If the answer is yes, the game is doing good. I like stacking HP. Some like to glass cannon. And others like to overlevel. You want to know which is the intended experience? ALL of them. There is no right way to play Elden Ring. Hell… there is no right way to play any Souls game. How do you think challenge runs were created over ten years ago? All experiences are valid. All ways of playing are good. Except cheating. Fuck cheaters. THIRD - New DLC Leveling Mechanic Do you truly believe that the issue you described is an Elden Ring problem? This has been happening since Artorias in Dark Souls’ DLC. Souls DLC’s have been difficult to balance since Day 1. It’s not a new problem. This new mechanic would have been a thing sooner or later. No “new player base” appeared and brought cataclysm. If anything, From finally decided to do something about it. Again, you speak as if overleveled characters haven’t existed since Boletaria. FOURTH - You are no shepherd You don’t get to “guide” players on how to play the game. I don’t get to tell them how to play, either. Hell… no one does that. Players will play however they wish. There are no shepherds here, and the Souls community isn’t sheep. You want to do a service to the community? Teach them of the game. Its mechanics. Its Lore. Its history. And let each player take that knowledge and walk their own path. Just as you did. Each player will blaze their trail, and they are all equally valid. FINAL NOTE - Do not gatekeep In this channel, we strive to open up the minds of players with knowledge. We want as many different points of views as possible in order to prosper through intelligent conversation. We do not indoctrinate on any “intended experience”. Then why would FSW implement a new mechanism in the dlc that offsets over leveled characters? Why isn’t coop seamless? You’re right. Over leveling for dlc has been a problem since ds1. The reason they’re fixing it now is because ER went nuclear in the mainstream and there’s more of that problem in massive abundance. There is an intended experience. One example of that is coop. The intended experience for coop is to be limited. You’re too use it responsibly. The game does not want nor intend players to tank every boss and every piece of content in between with OP friends while they hide in the corner. This is not what FSW wants from it’s coop mechanic. How do I know this? Because they have parameters that keep coop from being abused. But not only that, Miyazaki himself said so when asked about what inspired the coop in his games. I’ll grant you, coop has gotten more streamlined since the days of DS1 , but the philosophy is still in tact. The intended experience also doesn’t involve rune duplication. Which is how most players manage to max their level. So yea, FSW had no choice but to step in and undo the mistakes these players committed. If the intended experience involved seamless coop and infinity runes, then coop wouldn’t be limited and you’d be able to level up at a more affordable rune cost. The devs designed the game. Exploiting it or abusing the mechanics set in place to optimize the challenges the game poses is a shit way to play a souls game. It goes directly against the purpose. The purpose is to overcome challenge. Stated my Miyazaki himself. Anyone who optimizes that challenge out of their experience whether it be thru abusing coop or over powering via rune duping, is NOT getting that intended experience. It’s that simple. Also, these people don’t actually know what they want. If Demons Souls had an easy mode, I would’ve taken it had I been given that chance , to beat flamelurker. He was the first boss I ever brick walled in video games. I would’ve done anything to beat him, even cheat or use easy mode had I been able to. I’m so thankful I didn’t cheat or use easy mode because it would have robbed me of the pure euphoria I felt when I finally landed that death blow. I didn’t know how rewarding it was, how amazing I felt overcoming that challenge, until I experienced it. It’s so easy to optimize the challenges BEFORE you have that “come to” moment. The game wants as many people to share in that moment. And abusing coop or over powering yourself to squash bosses is not going to bring you to that moment, it’s going to be a generic shallow experience. I remember where I was, who was in the room, what I had for dinner, the night I beat Flamelurker all those years ago. I don’t remember jack shit from the hundreds of times I cooped with friends in ds3 or BB. Because it wasn’t special. FSW wants people to experience the former, not the later ? How do I know ? Because Miyazaki said so.

Hold on... My dear viewer, did you watch the video? I specifically mention on two occasions that Weeping Peninsula, Siofra River and Nokron, the eternal city, are all part of Limgrave. Furthermore, when I speak about the density of the territory, I show images of these areas and include their loot into the content conversation. I don't understand your comment at all.

My dear viewer, I, also, know how to use the internet. My question was more geared towards: is there a reliable source of information? Ignoring the Reddit post created by a user under the influence of drugs, research has led me to this video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-UOq1wm1GEWk.html This creator establishes the size at 79 square kilometers (~49 square miles), and goes on to specify that the playable area of the Lands Between is 40 square kilometers (~25 square miles). This creator used a free software (imageJ) to get this measurement. The software works by creating a scale using the player model and surrounding builds. Afterwards, it measures the determined area. The process is concise and can be replicated. I think that it can be useful for future research.

Nice video. Now let me tell you my dream: -10 new bosses(confirmed) i want these to be rememberance tier important bosses. -less catacombs/tombs/caves but makes these few big and different than the main game. -Miyazaki talked about connecting the dungeons and the open field more seemless way this time. So legacy dungeons, smaller dungeons, caves etc i want them to have shortcuts and interconnection between them and the open field. See how you return from fordidden woods stairs back to yharnam. -have the whole map with underground areas essentially kinda having double the map. Make these underground areas like a tower of latria design. Make em have an ancient faction having a community there with their own motives and goals. Have a whole new story there that connects with Miquella too. At the end of the underground area have the optional super boss miyazaki talked about(my guess the guy who pulls his spine from his head). -i don't feel new talismans are needed so make room for equipment -2 new schools of magic with incantations/sorceries -2 big legacy dungeons. Bigger than the main game ones. -few castle morne/caria manor like dungeons. -have a "wall" or something that prevents us to go straight to the final boss(for example like you could run to godrick). I'll edit later if needed. Sorry for the wall of text

In Elden Ring, the territory of Limgrave is made up of the following areas: Limgrave, East Limgrave, Weeping Peninsula, Stormveil Castle, Siofra River and Nokron. All of this is Limgrave, and it is established during the Kenneth Height questline. And then, Miyazaki interviews were clear in saying that the DLC will be at least as large as all of Limgrave. Possibly larger. While there is no official confirmation, it is probable and the speculation is founded.

Just look at the price, $45. The base game was $70…roughly 2/3 the amount. This game will contain half the content…at minimum.

While I agree that the price range leads to believe an estimated 50% of the base game as additional content, I think that this is very aggressive speculation. Judging by Mizayaki's words, Limgrave is not half of the game. That being said, this is a man who said that the base game would take about 30 hours to complete... so it wouldn't be the first time that he underestimates the scope of his own game. @@FrownyGaming I’m talking content, not map size. They’re different things to me. Aggressive or not, it’s only right to charge the correct amount. Adjusting for inflation, we are paying for ER 1.5, not DLC. I’ve never found this company to be underhanded. This is why, as aggressive as the prediction is, I believe it 100%. Finance is the best predictor metric we’ve got. Save this post and come crush me if I’m wrong, that’ll be my gamble. I’ll look like an idiot and take the shit. But I’m certain I’m on the money…pun intended. Though “content” is nebulous, how to quantify? Hours of play is an option, but I think it’ll be clear that we get at least a 1.5.

Yeah, this is a good argument. The price tag is the only official information that we have in regards to the possible content. Elden Ring 1.5 could be between 40 to 50 hours of content if we judge by the actual base game that we have. My concern with that is that Limgrave does not have that amount of content to use as a comparison, but Miyazaki was very clear with his comment. Then again, this man also said that Elden Ring was going to take about 30 hours to beat... For the record, I hope that you are right. The more content the better.
