Hi all, I know apps like Coinbase make it easy to trade and store Bitcoin (and other crypto) but what I meant in the video is how it's still a complicated process if you don't want to depend on a trusted third party.
There are obvious scammers here in the comments section. You should delete them and/or turn off comments. The crypto space is rife with fraud. Coinbase as you say is legit.
The hardware wallet industry is growing and making it easier to store your crypto. With the decentralization comes a lot of backlash from banks - which is the only reason the process isn't more seamless and integrated into everyday life. It also isn't the Venezuelan government putting this pressure on Bitcoin - it is the freedom loving, free-market USA. It's important to keep that in perspective when talking about Venezuela.

Nice content. I am Swiss. Our currency is quite stable. But I hold 93 % in BTC, 6 % Altcoins and only 1 % cash. Because I believe in Bitcoin, nobody can take it from you. Soon you can use your crypto in Paypal, VISA etc. so it will be much easier. But yes, we are still in the beginning. About energy: everybody uses the Internet, that needs about 5 % of the worldwide energy. No one cares about. Btw, you are looking great!

Very interesting. These days inflation isn't just a problem in Venezuela. The U.S. has also been experiencing high inflation. Assets like bitcoin provide a better option than even gold.
UPDATE: El Salvador just included BitCoin as currency alongside the dollar. If Puerto Rico wants to be independent, it has to think of ALL ways to do so, not just symbolically. We need accountants and financial experts, people who specialize in financial infrastructure. This is just one pillar of an actual nation.

The Petro can't be used, where would you use it to redeem it? Also Cryptocurrency is suppose to be decentralized (not controlled by the government), The petro even if it was of real it would be a digital token or currency and not crypto because as I said is suppose to be decentralized. I have always been against Bitcoin but I'm glad that it was there for those people since it helped them out of a potentially life and death situation or no less than a very unpleasant and difficult situation. Outside of being able to prepare by having or being able to produce everything I need I honestly don't know how to prepare for everything that could come.
I'm curious if people using crypto, like those in the video, have been impacted by the recent volatility and sell off of cryptocurrencies. This story seems to highlight the benefits of decentralized currency, but I wonder if the larger investors benefited far more.
Mark Williams taught me how to utilize the volatility of stock and crypto world, I make gain from trading despite the price chart. He has since provide entry and exit points on the securities I focus on. I basically follow his trading pattern and haven't regretted doing so.
Glad to hear that people are finally taking their power back from governments that are printing their currencies to zero. Bitcoin actually isn't a huge use of energy, it's a perfect way for energy companies to store unused energy in bitcoin more efficiently than if it went into batteries.
I think the inflation Vanezuela is experiencing will happen in the US and perhaps other countries. Bitcoin's store of value will only rise in the wake of this crisis.
I never understood how they value the crypto currencies. Banks were warning its a scam and will fall as the Tulip mania in 1637. Meanwhile in the back ground they were working on developing or accepting the coin on the down low it appears as this is going main stream.
The more people want to buy something that is limited the more the value of it goes up. It's not like someone decided what bitcoin is worth. It's worth more and more as more people decided they want to get it. If more people decide they want to get rid of it and they sell it the prices crash as they have done before. Tulip mania worked on the same principle and in fact all store of value like US Dollars or gold are priced that way. The difference with Tulip mania is that once those flowers can be duplicated more easily and they were not a good store of value for long periods of time since they wilt like all flowers do. Bitcoin on the other hand is nothing more then a mathematical equation. It is limited to 21 million. There can never be more bitcoin. So if the network infrastructure is developed further with easy to use digital wallets or online banks like Coinbase then more people will want to use it. Since more people will want to use it but there will never be more bitcoin it means the price will keep on going up. At the same time if the network crashes because we have some mass catastrophic even that cuts of power to most of the bitcoin miners that sustain the network it could mean the end of it, if people panic and decide to sell most of their bitcoins off for gold or other paper money or another crypto currency. So nobody knows what will happen.

This report only demonstrates that, for Venezuelan refugees trying to mitigate their losses from the bolivar, Bitcoin (or any crypto for that matter) is *much* better option. But I mean, compared to the bolivar, my cat's used litter holds its value better. To the gentleman interviewed in this story thinking it is "impossible" for a border guard to get at his crypto funds: Nope again. "Sir, unlock your phone. What's this crypto exchange app you've got installed? No matter the name. Just log in. Great. Now transfer that entire balance to this account (shows a one-time-use QR code). Thank you for your cooperation. Move along." I've got a stake in Bitcoin, and I've excited for its potential and practical use. But it's just a "fun" investment (aka Vegas money). It is by no means a stable investment.
Great video. Bitcoin mining should consume a lot of energy. Otherwise, it would be free money. Farmers don't get free crops. Gold, silver and lithium doesn't come out of the earth on balloons, even a fiat currency requires a government, military and financial systems to operate. Energy for currency is a feature, not a hinderance. The future is bright. Cheers.
