Do you gesso your paper before going over it with the oil pastel? Or do you think it's good to go? I got a Strathmore Tanned Tone smooth paper journal I kind of want to work in with my oil pastels. Not sure if I should gesso/prime the pages first though.

No I don’t. I just go straight in with the oil pastels. I have gessoed board before and that worked . A few coats of gesso and then sanded down the surface. On paper, no gesso.
