As a recent Trade Republic customer this is exactly the info that I needed, thanks! I have enough cash on my account to generate 50 Euro's from the 4% interest. Created a savingsplan (periodiek beleggen in Dutch) to monthly buy JPGI to qualify for the additional 1% saveback. Bought a card for 5 Euro's and will start make payments with it when it arrives. Should make a nice monthly mini cash snowball that is self sustaining with current interest rates (i.e. I don't have to add more money into the account)

Fantastic video with so many good explanations on questions I was asking myself regarding Trade Republic. I wish they were more open on disclosing those, I have absolutely no issue for instance in them getting money from fund providers as long as it doesn't impact my own investment or the capacity to invest into something else. Thanks again, I will follow for sure your next videos. Interesting to note: there was an interview in French with Matthias Baccino from Trade Republic who confirmed that outside of Germany they are not doing any more PFOF already since early July I believe. It would be interesting to see if this has changed some of the elements you described here.

In my opinion, the plan to outlaw Payment for order flow will only benefit the classical brokers of yesterday and is an attempt to slow down all these "new" Neo Brokers. Sadly, it is sold as consumer protection, but will probably just cost us (the consumers) in the end. Interesting that you mentioned, that even the German BaFin found PFOF to be something benefiting consumers. Didn't expect that. Thanks for the (as always interesting) video

There's a reason why the largest public exchanges in Europe, Euronext and Deutsche Börse (XETRA), lobbied against PFOF. They want to keep more of the pie for themselves.

Hi Angelo, great video as always! Are you also investing in bonds in Trade Republic? If so, could you please make a video explaining how it works? I started investing in bonds recently, but I am a bit confused about 1) the coupon %, 2) the accrued interest, 3) the “total payout amount”, 4) how will I get the annual return %? Combination between coupon + accrued interest? and 5) the tax correction after buying bonds (maybe this is country dependent, I am located in Germany). Thanks in advance!

@AngeloColomboFi you should mention when you are talking about different brokers that some of them (for my surprise) do not allow you to move to another country, you are forced to close your account and can't open it again in the new country, even within the EU. That is the case for Trade Republic, unfortunately, i can't understand the motivation behind that.

Excellent video again. It was news to me that the ETF providers give kickback "grants" to brokers. I have never seen this disclosed by brokers until now and I think it should be.

Hi Angelo! How much does it matter in which Currency you buy/trade ETFs and on which market you trade it? I live in Switzerland and I am interested to buy the FTSE Vanguard All World ETF. However my prefered Broker Swissquote has very few ETFs which are traded in CHF at the swiss SIX market. I fear that if I trade something outside of CHF and/or SIX, there will be currency and trading fee losses. So is the usual best approach to trade in your home country currency and market if possible? Furthermore, I noticed the same ETF does have slightly different values depending on which market you want to trade it, even if you look at the same currency - is this normal and is there a risk that for example the swiss SIX trades less efficient on the long run for the same ETF as lets say some other markets in Germany? I would highly appreciate your thoughts on it.

Thank you Angelo, very informative as always. Trade Republic seems too good to be true but they actually are! You can clearly tell they are trying to gain as many investors as possible by offering the best conditions in the market to then get back money with their internal commissions, good strategy IMO.

I think the brokers also make money in the spread difference. When I was trading Bitcoin on Binance there was no "spread" diference between buying price and selling price. Fees were very small if you paid in Binance coin BNB. (like 7.50€ on 10K trade)

Thanks for explaining the document, I was already wondering seeing it on the saving plan..like hold on so there is a fee for the saving plan after all. Anyway recently got the card and have been using it the entire month already looking forward to the first extra added to the savings plan :).

No, as I mentioned in the video there is no fee for us investors, but Trade Republic still earns something from external financial institutions - eg. the L&S exchange and fund providers (iShares, Vanguard...)

Ciao, I live in the Netherlands and after years of studying personal finance I am finally ready to invest. I tested DEGIRO, scalable capital and IB and I have big doubts on which to choose. I find IB a bit complex to use but I know is probably the best. I need the recurring investment feature. Which you recommend? Can you please give me some tips? I am also not sure if the IB feature for recurring investment includes the etf that I want to buy (VUUA, EIMI, EXUS, IUSN).Grazie mille Angelo!!! You are great

Hi Angelo. Why not just keep the money in an IBKR account buying 1-3 month T-Bills with ~5% yields rather than a TR account?
@AngeloColomboFi
@AngeloColomboFi 3 месяца назад
Because there's always a chance the USD loses value against the euro and that you make zero gains or even losses as a result (in €). At least it's not something I would do with my emergency fund or cash reserves, which I need to instantly have at my disposal, with no downside fluctuations in value.

Hi Angelo, Thank you so much for creating these videos. I'm just starting investing, and I'm trying to buy VWCE, I have one problem and maybe you can help me with your knowledge. When I preview the cost for an investment of 1000€, it gives me that I will pay 5.62€ in commission/fees (A total of 1005.62€). But it seems quite high, based on your excel file with the investment of 1000€ I should pay only 1.32€. Is it a problem with settings or something else? Or is it the fee for the first time investing in VWCE? I really appreciate your help, and thank you again for your content.
@AngeloColomboFi
@AngeloColomboFi 3 месяца назад
IB shows you an estimate across all exchanges where VWCE is listed. If you switched to tiered pricing, it should show a commission starting at 1.25€ and going up to a few euros. In the end, I always end up paying the minimum (1.25€) or a few cents extra if it's executed via IBIS (XETRA).

Wouldn't be better to place limit orders instead of market orders, so that one have the "peace of mind" that the price was chosen by oneself? and therefore, you were not "played" by the broker? I would rather have a commision-free brokerage account paid by POF but using Limit Orders. By the way, in Europe one have to pay commision to the broker but also to the chosen stock exchange, right? Thanks!
@AngeloColomboFi
@AngeloColomboFi 3 месяца назад
Of course that's always a great option, but sometimes your limit order won't be filled, which means you'll need to spend more time on it and keep adjusting. In my opinion, if you're buying very liquid stocks/ETFs and placing your order at a time when spreads are tight (eg. 9-17:30 CET), a market order is perfectly fine. I've never once regretted (gotten screwed over) doing that on my end, but then again I'm only buying VWCE. With classical exchanges like XETRA, Euronext etc. yes, with others like Gettex and L&S you don't pay an extra commission to the exchange.

Do you have a referral link to interactive brokers where the one that signs up can get up to a 1000 dollar in shares? I would like to use your code because of the value of your content but the referral link that you include doesn't contain the bonus for signing up.

It's possible that they're not allowed to get PFOF payments from residents in countries outside of Germany any more! Their other income sources remain the same though!

Scalable Capital is great, they have a similar business model as Trade Republic minus the card and they make more on interest as they only pass it on with customers of their paid plan. You can always transfer your shares (for free) if you move to a country where Scalable is not supported.
