Happy New Year! I hope you all had an amazing holiday season & are ready for your 2023! I’m definitely ready. However, I’ve had past New Years where I start off really slow. Maybe it’s a carry over from the year before. Or maybe I’m just overwhelmed and “feel like doing it later.” Either way, I wanted this year to start off with a little self improvement/motivation. I couldn’t think of a better guest to start the year off with, than Mrs. Lauren Morrison! She’s a career & business performance coach and someone I look up to. So sit back, get your notes ready and let’s kick off the new year right!
Also, don't forget to like, subscribe & turn on your notifications so you don't miss out on an episode! Thank you to everyone who has already!
Topics:
-Feeling stuck & where it stems from.
-Limiting beliefs vs what it would feel like without them.
-Respecting the old you & embracing the new you.
-Going over the best book I've read so far, "US" by Terry Real

I struggle with the spotlight thing too. I think because i felt dismissed and not prioritized by my parents as a child. The spotlight thing makes you think that all your achievements have to mirror back to you some extravagant affect, hence why you want the big show. Although I hope and pray all your dreams come true, the affect that you have on your listeners lives, right now, is extravagant. You bring us so much perspective, show us how to be confident, vulnerable, and afraid with grace and tenacity. Every time you have an issue, I watch you and get better. This materializes within us, but you don’t get to see that. I think they know you have nothing to worry about because all you have to do is show up as yourself and authenticity is one of your key values.

“If I try, and I fail, I loose the opportunity “ is such a relatable experience that I do not think is talked about very often. Wow that was 🙌🏽

Great episode, as always! I felt like you were in my head JD. Since I found the self help community and books it has become my new safe space. It's also the space I'm stuck in. Whew, you've unlocked such a big piece for me with this episode. Thank you for being so vulnerable and for being Lauren back!

Not us getting to watch JD’s coaching session! I just love Lauren and I so appreciate you, JD, being completely open with your struggles because it allows us to celebrate your breakthroughs when they come and really feel it! Whether we can relate or we gain tools from the episode it was all so good.

Omgsh JD, honestly every time I watch your show I feel like you cover all grounds and I’ve learned everything I needed in the moment and everything I’ll ever need. There’s nothing else to learn lol but then you prove me wrong with each episode that there’s MORE to learn and other perspectives and it’s amazing how you do this. How you share with everyone who you are, your flaws, your uncertainty, your process, your human-ness. WE CAN RELATE.

The irony of you bringing up this book because i recently learned in therapy we indeed have 3 versions of ourselves; our protector, the inner child and the adult version (thats what my therapist calls them). Its such a hard process trying to talk from our wise adult version to our inner child getting them to understand the skills needed to survive then isn't useful anymore. I understand what you're feeling JD!

It feels like a lot of this comes down to self love. Fear of failing because if I fail I’m not worthy of love. Your wise adult is telling you that you’re worthy but your inner child knows what it took to receive love. Sometimes I wonder if healing is like recovery or grieving in the sense that it’s never ending. You always struggle and every day you have to choose your wise adult, but as time goes on it becomes easier to make that decision. Much love JD it’s always great to relate to you💜

Yo JD, there's scientific reasoning as to why that 5am routine + sunlight intake is hittin' right. Check out Dr. Huberman's poscast on optimizing sleep. I think you'll appreciate the "why".

What keeps me coming back to watch your podcasts is your authenticity, vulnerability, and wisdom. I honestly believe you're way beyond your years 😊. Lauren surely is a great asset to you. She didn't hold back and really asked the hard questions unreservedly. And you handled them like a boss! It was a great episode.
