Brick-and-mortar charter schools serve more than 80,000 Ohio students, most of whom come from low-income backgrounds. Recent Fordham research indicates that children attending these public schools make more academic progress than traditional students. Despite these impressive results, Ohio has long shortchanged charter schools, including giving them limited access to facility resources.
How can Ohio policymakers improve funding for charter school facilities? Tune into a new Fordham Institute event where Matthew Joseph of ExcelinEd, a national education group, presents new research about charter facilities in Ohio. His presentation includes an analysis of the extent to which Ohio is meeting facility needs, as well as a discussion of potential policy solutions.
This webinar consists of a 20 minute presentation, with a Q&A session. The event was held in conjunction with the release of an ExcelinEd policy brief, Building for Success in Ohio: Measuring how well Ohio is meeting charter school facility needs.
