You can't really rank Kill Bill 1 without 2. Kill Bill 2 isn't a sequel. It's one film divided into 2 volumes. They compliment, complete, and enhance one another, and seeing them both will definitely influence your opinion on each of them respectively.

I saw this in theaters opening day and I'll never forget it. Not only did it finally dethrone Braveheart as the most violent movie I had ever seen but when the whole Crazy 88 battle began you could hear a pin drop. Everyone, myself include was like 😳! In total disbelief at what we were seeing. Until this movie, I didn't know you could even DO half the stuff they did in this movie. Also two interesting facts about this movie: 1. The Sheriff who finds her in the church was a character in a previous Tarantino film teamed up with director Robert Rodriguez in the movie From Dusk Till Dawn (1996). This was the first movie where Tarantino movies connected with each other in some way. The Sheriff would later make an appearance in another Tarantino/Rodriguez film called Planet Terror (2007). So From Dusk Till Dawn, Kill Bill and Planet Terror all take place in the same universe, which if you've seen all 3 is, to put it bluntly, fucking insane. 2. The actress who plays Gogo was in an awesome, also super violent, Japanese movie called Battle Royale (2000) which is the one movie Tarantino has gone on record as saying he was beyond jealous when he saw it, because he wishes he had made it/thought of it. He loved it so much he HAD to get her to be in this movie.

34:43 - Actually, the only reason it goes to black and white is the MPAA would have given the movie an NC-17 rating due to the violence/blood. With no color, it can seem toned down a little. A few other small parts were cut as well for the R-rated version, but much fewer than you think. They did release an uncut version released in Japan that's completely in color and some scenes are slightly extended.

The piece of music played on the pan flute you heard in Hattori Hanzō's house and later in the ending is called "The Lonely Shepherd". The over the top amounts of blood is Tarantino's influence from the old samurai movies of the 60's and 70's. The change to black and white during the crazy 88 fight scene was done to keep the movie with an R rating, otherwise it would have been bumped up to NC17 which would have kept it out of many theaters.

So they kept me asleep and tested my brain or whatever before waking me up. I remember hearing things my family or drs were saying, and they almost incorporated themselves into my very primitive dreams. It’s like I was watching my brain watch a dream. But some things they said I told them was not in correct order or in very different context. So I think my brain filled in some gaps on its own or something. I have a good friend who is a licensed swordsmith in Yamaguchi, Japan. His Katana range from 20-50 thousand USD. Katanas can go much higher depending on the renown of the craftsman. There are less than 50 total active craftsmen today.
@tannhauser5399
@tannhauser5399 Год назад
@Ronin - that is the middle ground for rich people, and quality. Pure pro level, rarity, and quality? 300K USD+ easily. Middle range is probably around 12K-25K USD. Basic ones, for the average people, turists and so on, or put is simply for just the average "internet person" - yeah, anything below 1K USD (so they are happy to display that kind of katana on some stand in their apartment/house, or just put it on a wall there).
@The5Ronin
@The5Ronin Год назад
@@tannhauser5399 you basically expanded on what I already said. Though 300k would be unheard of unless it was an antiquity of renown, which comes with legal barriers taking it out of the country. The average professionally made tamahagane blade is under 50k. I've personally made a kogatana and researched for a book and ethnography about becoming and living as a sword smith in Japan. I've lived in the Japanese countryside for over 7 years. The tourist blades are factory made , usually from stainless or factory grade carbon steel. Tourists pay over 500 for them when they are worth usually around 50 USD.

Did you say "fools, ya fools!?" 😂 Most of the Japanese I know came from Naruto and that's what it sounded like. FYI: There is a Japanese version of this movie where the House of Blue Leaves massacre is extended, and indeed in color. If you liked this, you should check out Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. It's live action, and there's a scene where a tiny girl destroys fifty grown ass men in a tea house. It's very tame by comparison. I don't think there's any blood, but aside from that they're very similar scenes, and it's an awesome movie besides that. For me, with those four movies from best to worst, it's Pulp Fiction, Kill Bill, Django, Inglorious Basterds but that's just my opinion. My extended list (still from best to worst): Pulp Fiction, Kill Bill, Django, Reservoir Dogs, Inglorious Basterds, Jackie Brown, Death Proof, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, The Hateful Eight, and again, that's just my opinion.

A contemporary, traditionally hand forged, Japanese made katana, known as a nihonto in Japanese, that is a proper, edged weapon manufactured for combat rather than just display purposes, can cost in excess of $30,000 US. Historical nihonto can cost much more depending on rarity. Good quality replicas and mass produced katana are usually hundreds of dollars rather than thousands.
@tannhauser5399
@tannhauser5399 Год назад

Just for the average person, to put on the wall in a house, or display on a stand - or something similar. Anything better, in the middle range? I would say starting point would be 6K-8K USD, with top ones around 10K USD. Top levels? I would say start with 12-25K USD and go from that. Pure pro and rarity? 300K USD+ easily.

Oh, Biss would you consider watching "Leon: The Professional"? It has a young Natalie Portman and is an awesome movie! (I'm also grinning when I imagine you finding out about about Leon's fav drink)

The two actors before the sword reveal are famous martial arts actors who were in films that Quentin liked and inspired this film. He also shot footage with the lead from another big and obvious inspiration "Female Prisoner Scorpion", but didn't use the footage in the final cut. You should do or at least watch her movie, you'll see where he gets his zooms, splatter blood, shots, etc.

Kill Bill was originally made as ONE SINGLE FILM. But because there was no way to edit the film down enough to keep it under 3 hours, Quentin decided to break it up into 2 separate films. This is why there are so many "flash fowards" to part 2 in the first movie. The movies are actually vastly different in their styles. Part 1 was definitely all action whereas part 2 had a lot better story telling and dialog (something Tarantino is known for). For my money, Part 2 was actually a better film overall.

Kill Bill Vol. 1 and Vol. 2 are one movie so you will need to watch Vol.2 to see the rest of the film.
