Very informative. Many people don't get this but the game changer that put an end to fortress walls wasn't cannons, as this video states after cannons they went from using castle walls to using starfort walls. And starfort walls worked just fine. No, the game changer that put an end to fortress walls is when people started building tools that could allow soldiers to simply fly over them. But even now they use a clever use of fences and trenches to stop ground forces. Walls would still be better then this sure, but bear in mind construction is expensive.
