How Caterpillar Went From A Local Company To A Billion Dollar Enterprise
The ground-breaking ideas that later become the leader of an industry and change the face of the earth come only once in centuries. The same kind of idea just hit the soil of California at the start of the 20th century and then skyrocketed in growth to become the world’s number 1 manufacturer of heavy construction machines with a net worth of a staggering 159 billion dollars.
Welcome to Extreme Force, the ultimate destination for :
- Insane, big and powerful machines like dozer(s), crawler(s), lowbed(s), truck(s)
forestry machines, logging machines
dumptruck(s)
and digger(s) excavator(s)
- Incredible machine(s) like crusher(s)
- Biggest machines like loader(s).
- Impressive machine(s) like crane(s).
- Monster machines like bulldozer(s) and grader(s).
- Mining machines
Made by industry leaders such as: Komatsu, Caterpillar, and Liebherr
We hope you enjoy our videos.

Invented by Benjamin Holt in Stockton, California. Designed to operate in the soft peat soil of the San Joaquin River delta around Stockton. In WWI the British asked Mr. Holt if he could invent something to navigate over the war trenches in France. His invention was the world's first TANK. Mr. Holt received medals from the British government after WWI in 1919.

Everything was ok till they put DEF in every machine, now you have all kind of fuel system problems.

Def is unrelated to the fuel system

@@zachmoritz9856 Mmmm I have been operating Caterpillars for over 20 years and since they started with DEF there’s always something related with the fuel system, many people I know are removing that DEF system completely from their machines.

I think Holt bought the patent for the 'Stiff track/Chain' and the slew clutch steering from Ruston & Sons of Grantham Lincolnshire. However Lombard in the US had developed his own tracks for his log haulers.

This is fun to watch but it doesn't tell how the company progressed to a billion $ enterprise. It tells the history of the machines but almost nothing about legal or finances. Where did they get the initial capital? How did they structure and restructure the company? How many patents do they have? When did they go public? What major contracts did they win and how much did they profit from them? I expected stuff like that. Anyway, I still like the video.

🚜 It’s incredible to see how Caterpillar grew into such a massive enterprise! What do you think was the key factor in their success? I’m curious about how they maintained their growth over the years. 📈

Cat left the Ag market years ago. JD is still the top brand in that. JD has hired out much of it's "yellow" business to other companies, such as Lieberr. JD and Cat will always be the ones others want to compare themselves to.
