It’s a new era of global power dynamics where countries sometimes have the option to say no to the U.S. Nowhere is this more apparent than in the Middle East. Almost 12 years after being kicked out of the Arab League, Syria has been welcomed back into the fold by many of the U.S.-allied countries that tried to destroy it. All this time Israel was banking on normalization with Saudi Arabia and the opposite happened, with China overseeing a Saudi peace deal with Iran. Why? What does this multipolarity mean for the region? And how might it impact Palestine and the broader resistance axis? To discuss this and more Rania Khalek was joined by Ali Abunimah, executive director of the Electronic Intifada and author of The Battle for Justice in Palestine
Ali’s article discussed in this episode: electronicinti...

Thanks again Rania and Ali for another excellent BTN choice and conversation. Unless they get over their god given borne to rule ideology and fear of China's re-emergence as a super power, the imperialist ruling elite of London, and New York will continue cranking up their respective military defence, even if it is now too late to stop or even slow down China's progress. This shift of power among so called 'super powers' is driving a newly emerging Sino/Russian led multipolar world re-ordering that is far more likely to bring about world peace and stability than the declining unipolar world order now being desperately defended by its Anglo/American owners.

Slavery allowed big profits = capital accumulation. Genocide of natives created a situation where there was an abundance of land and resources. In order to exploit the resources more effectively you had to mechanize, while mechanization was also possible because you had more money to invest. These supported each other allowing for the UK to industrialize. If you take away slavery and genocide, UK would have been like other island countries eg Japan, Ceylon, Kdm of Two Sicilies, Kingdom of Madagascar in 19th century. It would be an unindustrialized economy where the population lived in balance with their locally available resources.

This is the primary benefit of China’s rise. I’m sure they have domestic issues and will mess up eventually, and has messed up in the past probably, and has some problematic policies. BUT their rise enabled entire regions to declare and hope to defend independence from the West. The first decolonisation attempt didn’t fully complete last century. And countries in those regions won’t be perfect afterwards either. Some - maybe many - might mess up. Some will come across problematic to others. Some will struggle with domestic issues. BUT all would have the hope to be able to work it out over succeeding generations without it being exploited by hegemonic psychopath countries, and have a relationship with neighbours and further countries that’s constructive to that journey rather than toxic and predatory.

The U.S.A is obviously alarmed as evidenced by their probably unprecedented mad dashes all around the world trying to literally buy back former allies whom they have neglected for decades. However, with high inflation at home which might turn into a possible recession, a humongous national debt which gets ever worst with each successive grossly incompetent Administration, and pumping billions of US$ into a hopeless conflict in the Ukraine, the day of reckoning is close for the U.S.A where the real possibility of a sudden and dramatic collapse has become almost inevitable.

Definitely nailed it, _but for_ I think one aspect that might deserve a more complete explanation which is the fed's raising of interest rates, the stated purpose of which being to "cool" the "tight labor market" aka ensure the working class work for wages that have remained at stagnant levels since the 70s, despite constant increase in "productivity" all along the way. Which is to say, through the lens of class conflict/historical materialism, such a tool of monetary policy reveals itself to be a far less neutral technocratic fix than yet another political cudgel to entrench class domination. To Wall Street and its backers, the solution to any price inflation is to reduce wages and public social spending (austerity). And here we can note that the orthodox way to do this historically is to deliberately push the economy into recession in order to reduce hiring (for precedent, see: Volcker shock). Rising unemployment will oblige labor to compete for jobs that pay less and less as the economy slows. The entire blame for inflation is placed on wage earners, and the response is to make them the victims of the coming austerity, as if their wages are responsible for bidding up oil prices, food prices and other prices resulting from corporate monopolies coupled with an increasingly precarious and debt-strapped working class being leeched from at any and all opportunity, particularly from the FIRE sector (finance, insurance, real estate) which unlike industrial capital doesn't even have to produce anything; a feature and not a bug to such wall street demonic arcons who excuse their brazen and insatiable mechanized cannibalization of anything and everything as merely the will of the divine right of "the market". The pretense behind the Fed’s recent increase in its discount rate is that raising interest rates will "cure inflation" (falsely attributed to "excess" wages/consumption aka an "overheated" economy, as per the lexicon of psycho piece of shit Larry Summers) by deterring borrowing to spend on the basic needs that make up the Consumer Price Index and its related GDP deflator. But banks do not finance much consumption, except for credit card debt, which is now less than student loans and automobile loans. Banks lend almost entirely to buy real estate, stocks and bonds, not goods and services. Some 80 percent of bank loans are real estate mortgages, and most of the remainder loans are collateralized by stocks and bonds. Here's that Marx guy's getting at the bigger picture here: _"Big industry constantly requires a reserve army of unemployed workers for times of overproduction. The main purpose of the bourgeois in relation to the worker is, of course, to have the commodity labour as cheaply as possible, which is only possible when the supply of this commodity is as large as possible in relation to the demand for it, i.e., when the overpopulation is the greatest. Overpopulation is therefore in the interest of the bourgeoisie, and it gives the workers good advice which it knows to be impossible to carry out. Since capital only increases when it employs workers, the increase of capital involves an increase of the proletariat, and, as we have seen, according to the nature of the relation of capital and labour, the increase of the proletariat must proceed relatively even faster. The above theory, however, which is also expressed as a law of nature, that population grows faster than the means of subsistence, is the more welcome to the bourgeois as it silences his conscience, makes hard-heartedness into a moral duty and the consequences of society into the consequences of nature, and finally gives him the opportunity to watch the destruction of the proletariat by starvation as calmly as any other natural event without bestirring himself, and, on the other hand, to regard the misery of the proletariat as its own fault and to punish it."_ Just the massive mounting layers of contradictions inextricable to capitalism's material logic, nothing to see here folks, Do not look at that man behind the thin blood-soaked curtain of US empire - all hail the divine right of "the market"! But uh...pessimism of the intellect, optimism of the will! Or something! _"The bourgeoisie cannot exist without constantly revolutionizing the instruments of production, and thereby the relations of production, and with them the whole relations of society. Conservation of the old modes of production in unaltered form, was, on the contrary, the first condition of existence for all earlier industrial classes. Constant revolutionizing of production, uninterrupted disturbance of all social conditions, everlasting uncertainty and agitation distinguish the bourgeois epoch from all earlier ones. All fixed, fast-frozen relations, with their train of ancient and venerable prejudices and opinions, are swept away, all new-formed ones become antiquated before they can ossify. All that is solid melts into air, all that is holy is profaned, and man is at last compelled to face with sober senses his real conditions of life, and his relations with his kind."_ - some guy again (Marx), a bit optimistic at the end we wouldn't just choose individual delusion while the planet literally burns around us... *_socialism or_* [continued] *_barbarism._*

US tells Saudi Arabia that they will protect them. That is from Iran of course. Saudi and Iran talking peace is good for both as well as the region but is not in the interest of the US. Saudi would not need protection. That means no US leverage and the biggest issue, the petro dollar would be in jeopardy. US has never allowed relations to normalize but this time there is a new broker whose interest is not in conflict but in cooperation.

I think the “primary triangle” powers of BRICS will be “China, Russia, Saudi Arabia. The “secondary triangle” of powers will be Iran, South Africa, South America. The “third triangle of power will be Central Asia, central Africa, Southeast Asia. These are the the regions of the 21st century global order. US will be sidelined due to its own domestic, economic, societal issues. Europe with be entangled to the US therefore be lemmings tied to the US. Eastern Europe will weakened limbo states confused between clinging to a sinking western EU or swaying east towards a new global world order (BRICS/ China / Russia and that entire landmass and the global BRI network. India will also be pushed aside by the greater BRICS due to its subservient servitude to the US (G7) to undermine BRICS and to start a war against China. Japan is deeper in percentage debt than the US, its technology contribution will be irrelevant, same goes for South Korea. The economic collapse of the US will sink Europe, Australia, Japan, South Korea and the Philippines. Taiwan will vote against the US (DPP) in 2024 which is why Biden is now in a hurry to organize and start his proxy Taiwan war before their 2024 elections. 2025-2030 will be the end of the 20th century US unipolar hegemonic halcyon era. The world evolved from allies to aligned with US-led West, to global north and global south. The formers terminology derived during World War II and thereafter, while the latter just recently as the world moves to multi-polarity from global hegemony. Since antiquity Empires rise and fall. From the Greek city-states, to kingdoms and later empires. The Acheamenid was the oldest 250 years existing before brought down by Alexander the Great of Macedonia. Succeeded by Alexander's two generals, the Seleucids and the Ptolemaic based in Egypt whose infamous ruler in history was Queen Cleopatra. Later after the two's demise arise Rome that evolved from a Republic to an Empire that extends from north of Britain, west in Gaul, and east to the Danube. To expand south to north Africa, Egypt that moved east to Bactria now Afghanistan in an endless expansion and ceaseless wars to maintain Roman hegemony. Such the case of empires that followed in 14th, 15th, 16th to 21st centuries. Then the US Empire started from late 19th century till today. Now the empire is crumbling in the same manner and conditions as that of Roman Empire: de-based currency, overextended, huge expenditures to maintain military forces around the world, geopolitical arrogance, high-level corruption, emerging economies of other countries like China, Russia, India to name a few, illegal-drugs problems at all levels of society and government, and host of domestic issues, etc. A new world order is about to unfold.
@superjnovaannularaurora9065
