Sweet and sour chicken balls is one of the most ordered items on a Chinese takeaway menu, every other order will have these on them without fail, so here is a recipe so you can make a quick sweet and sour sauce and Chinese takeout style chicken balls, this is also a recipe I've used in an actual takeaway before so its tried and tested. As always there are a couple of ways to make these, this is just one and yes we have made this recipe before, but like we've explained in a few videos, we're remaking them so there is more information as we missed some key points that you lot have asked about, so we wanted to make a better version of the old recipe video.

Another Canadian..58... Chicken Balls are chicken balls ..chicken tenders, fingers or chicken strips are normally done with a panko style batter...ps ..some places I've eaten had chicken insidea third of your cuts...but we never cared its all about the thick tempura and sweet and sour or as my kids called it red sauce

I'm from Ontario, Canada and I have never heard them called anything other than Chicken balls. To me chicken fingers are the breaded long pieces that are like Chicken McNuggets from McDonalds!! Every Chinese restaurant I've ever been in called them Chicken balls so don't know where these other people are from but not Ontario!!..LOL!! Not that it matters... they TASTE GREAT, and that's the important part!!

@DMSProduktions Oh no, another reason online "Facts About Canada" videos should do more research. Where I live in Canada, we do not say "Oot," which is a regional accent in the eastern portion of the country. We live in a Western prairie province. Do we have our own accent? I don't hear it if we do. Do we have our own dialect? Yes, that I will agree with. Take the word "Bunnyhug," for example. That is absolutely one we developed in Sask. "Vico" is another provincial term. I believe one would find that amongst any country that has provinces, states, or regions. Just want people to understand the misconceptions about my beautiful country! 🇨🇦

I made Chicken Balls tonight. I can confirm that the naming is correct for the UK. Mine was made with a hybrid version of the sweet and sour sauce recipe I normally use (from the Wok cookbook by J Kenji Lopez-Alt) along with your earlier sweet and sour video, which uses cloves, star anise and Oranges for more aromatics. This was served with a stir fried veg / chilli / garlic / ginger / soy / sesame oil side dish and obviously rice. The whole lot went down really well. The balls were nice and crunchy on the outside, the batter was light and the chicken was nice and moist. Thanks ! You can count me as +1 for adding MSG. One suggestion. Adding the full ingredients list and their measurements into the video description makes setting up a lot easier. Take a look at Souped up Recipe's channel for ideas.

I have travelled extensively throughout Canada and America for many many years and love North American style Chinese food. Chicken fingers are the same as chicken tenders which are strips of chicken that are breaded and then fried. These offering are usually served in non Chinese restaurants. Depending on the establishment various sauces are offered from honey mustard to ranch to bbq. Chicken balls are cubes of chicken usually chicken breast which are battered and then fried. They are always served with sweet and sour sauce.

Hi, just want to say great video love it and also made this recipe. But want to add I’m was Military brat that’s lived all over Canada from west coast to middle of Canada and also a railroader that’s never in the same place twice, I’ve also been far north in the territories eating a lot of Asian cuisine, never heard the term chicken fingers for this, it’s always been SS chicken balls or Chen balls. Chicken fingers is the tender part of the chicken off the Breast and coated in bread crumbs then fried and dipped in ketchup.

@@ZiangsFoodWorkshop... Nope...chicken balls are chicken balls (battered with s/s sauce) and chicken fingers are chicken fingers (breaded with honey mustard, honey dill or many other dipping sauces). From a Canuck who's eaten at Chinese restaurants across most of Canada. In 57 years never heard these "balls" called strips or fingers. But keep the good cooking coming.

Dragon flour isn't sold in Australia, it occasionally pops up on eBay but expensive and could of been sitting around for months. I now use SR flour seasoning, with Mary Mack's instant batter mix to coat (sold here in all supermarkets). Also good for fish & chips. I use frozen Basa, thaw, lightly salt & sit for 2hrs in fridge to draw out moisture for stay crunchy batter.

On some channels, 15 minutes drags. This video flew by! I've been learning to cook various Anglicised Chinese dishes. I think your channel is going to boost my knowledge - new subscriber! :)

Hiya Chin and Choo. I do the quick sweet and sour sauce and use the orange and pineapple squash from Asda and it's great because it makes it taste like you've added pineapple chunks. I made 5 litres of the complicated sauce you did before but now I can't be arsed and just do it this way instead. I love it!

I know it as sweet and sour chicken. They call it that in buffalo NY and Atlanta. One of my favorite finger foods from cheap Chinese places

As an American....we just call this "sweet and sour chicken". We know when ordering it....that its fluffy but crispy fried chicken pieces with sweet and sour sauce on the side so you can add it at the last minute so that the chicken stays crisp. Ive never heard this dish called chicken "fingers" or "balls".

I’ve had 1000s of comments from people in the US over the years telling they call them chicken fingers over there, remember the states are massive not everywhere will call them the same thing

@ZiangsFoodWorkshop as an American who has lived in several states as well as traveled to most of them...I'm 100% aware of how big my country is. I'm also aware of regional differences being that i actually live here and have actually visited these different regions and lived in south dakota, texas, Alabama, south and north carolina, florida, oregon, wyoming, and Rhode Island...however, in the vast majority of states this dish is "sweet and sour chicken". Even at Asian chain restaurants in the US, it's just called "sweet and sour chicken"...no matter what state the chain is in. There has not been one single Asian restaurant in any state I've ever been to that calls this dish with the sauce "fingers". Even my husband, who is a chef is certain that this is just simply "sweet and sour chicken"....it's only chicken fingers when it isnt in Asian cuisine alongside sweet and sour sauce. Chicken "fingers" are just chicken tenders...which have a very different breading than sweet and sour chicken.

Such a great tip about not letting the batter sit while you wait for the oil to heat up. Such a good tip. Makes so much sense as well. I honestly wondered why I was getting a flat crunchy coating and not a light crispy one. I feel a bit stupid for not realising Hahhahhaaa! 😆😆🖖✌🤘
