Steam Chicken Wings with Shiitake Mushrooms Recipe
Ingredients:
9 chicken wings, each cut into 4 pieces
8-10 dried shiitake mushrooms
1 tsp salt
White pepper, to taste
2 tsp sugar
1/2 tsp chicken bouillon
1-2 tbsp oyster sauce
1-2 tbsp soy sauce
1 tbsp sesame oil
1 tbsp olive oil
1 tbsp Chinese rice wine
1 tsp cornstarch
1-2 red chilies, sliced (optional, for garnish)
2-3 spring onions, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions:
Rehydrate Shiitake Mushrooms:
Place dried shiitake mushrooms in a bowl and cover with hot water. Let them soak for about 20 minutes or until fully rehydrated.
Drain the mushrooms, then slice them into thin strips.
Prepare Chicken Wings:
In a large bowl, combine chicken wing pieces and sliced shiitake mushrooms.
Marinate:
Add 1 tsp salt, a sprinkle of white pepper, 2 tsp sugar, and 1/2 tsp chicken bouillon to the bowl.
Drizzle in oyster sauce, soy sauce, sesame oil, olive oil, and Chinese rice wine. Adjust quantities to taste if needed.
Mix well to ensure the chicken and mushrooms are evenly coated.
Sprinkle 1 tsp cornstarch over the mixture and mix again until well incorporated.
Marinate:
Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and let it marinate in the refrigerator for 1 hour.
Prepare for Steaming:
Transfer the marinated chicken and mushrooms onto a steam plate or heatproof dish.
Add Chilies:
If using, scatter sliced red chilies over the top of the chicken.
Steam:
Fill a steamer or large pot with water and bring it to a boil.
Place the steam plate or dish with chicken into the steamer.
Cover and steam for 20 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through and tender.
Garnish:
After steaming, sprinkle chopped spring onions over the chicken.
Serve:
