When Alison was diagnosed with stage 1A triple positive breast cancer, she decided to do cold capping during treatment. Cold capping allows an individual to potentially increase the ability to save their hair from the chemotherapy. Unfortunately, cold capping isn't available to everyone, and it's not recommended for people that don't have solid tumors.
Alison was a candidate as a breast cancer patient, and the cold capping was successful for her! She describes the different types of cold capping, her WHY to cold capping, and the process of cold capping during treatment.

I did cold capping, but unfortunately, not all cancer centers have access to the machines needed. I lost a lot even with it (Paxman), but it really helped a lot. I retained about 70 percent overall, but I had places with more than 50 percent loss. It does take a lot more time for each session.

It should be free. It's just ice.

My hospital offers nothing in the way of helping with any kind of cold capping/icing fingers & toes. And it can be tricky to have to drag in all that with you to chemo. I’m about to do round 3 & I’ve lost 90% of my hair already. I’d give anything to have been able to utilize this.
