My husband chipped a front tooth back in the 70s that composite bonding held up till he passed away three years ago. That means it stayed perfect for 47 years.
ive had mine since 2020 broke 2 front teeth. 4 years later u can definitely start to tell its not a natural tooth they need to be replaced every 5 years or so
I have composite bonding on my top 6 teeth, I got it done when I was 15 and it absolutely SAVED my confidence. My teeth were straight but, weird mismatched sizes. I’m 32 and haven’t ever had issues with them!
Same! I had peg laterals and everyone called me vampire teeth …. After getting my bonding done I went on to do lingerie modeling lol. Something I NEVER would have been brave enough to do before because I hated my smile.
@@fluorescentchocolate it’s been 4 years. I got them done because I chipped my front tooth a little like right before everything shut down because of what happened in 2020. The chip is completely fine and still intact but the actual composite started chipping and coming off. They last a good while but not forever. But it’s a really good option to have done. They matched mine to the color of my teeth so it looked more natural. So mine weren’t Hollywood smile white but still looked really good.
I have some chipped teeth that my general dentist did composite bonding on back in my early -mid teens and they’re largely still fine. I’m 32 now. Stay from all this heavy duty cosmetic stuff. Once your tooth is destroyed the only option is an implant
Don’t get veneers. My wife had veneers for ~11 years, they finally chipped and got a bit yellow. We find a dentist who will do them at a price we can swallow (not cheap, but not the most expensive). He does 10 and we’re now a year and a half out, she’s had 5 root canals, gum surgery, and now has to have one replaced with an implant. No one can/will say what happened but it seems obvious as she had no oral issues until the replacement veneers
Uneducated guess: Original veneers hid a lot of issues Or Second dentist wasn't very proficient in veneers and overconfident. I feel bad for your wife tho. And your bank account. All of those procedures are pricey and painful
@@UnicornsPoopRainbows could even be a combo of the two... $12k for the veneers and $5k for the root canals. We shall see what the extraction costs. The biggest pain for her was she had nasty infection for 4 of those root canals and was taking time off from work because the pain was unbearable. I just thank God for the wonderful endodontist that took care of her.
Without insurance, we would have just sound $3500 out of pocket for our 2,kids to get cleaning and fillings and one extraction I can’t even imagine the cost of cosmetic and then all the fallout surgery. A) dentistry is way too unattainable for too many people, And B) they are so likely to fuck up your teeth with no regard. The older I get, the more I realize they are like gold and I want to protect them at all cost 😭
@@TheAnashea I’ve had mine since I was 14, I am gonna be 30 this year. They told me it could last from 1 year up to 10. I could use a redo though, smoking and coffee does no favors to the composite and teeth whitener does NOTHING so I will warn you. However you can gently take a nail file to it or your dentist should be able to scrap it that area with a tool because the stains will come off only with scraping, not chemicals
my tooth actually got chipped too! and my dentist recommended getting a crown for it because it might break unevenly and cause nerve damage and might have to cause root canal. but has composite bonding worked better for you?
@@yyxmi yes! The crown was also presented as an option, and I said 'let's go that route when we have to' and I've never had to. It could also be a skill issue with your dentist. Every dentist since then has commented that the 'composite doesn't look right' from the back of the tooth, but because it's in the back and hasn't caused a cavity or fallen off, I've never invested in fixing it. In hindsight, I believe the original dentist was pushing the crown because he knew he wasn't good at building the composite. It takes skill to create them well. So go for the composite, but go to a dentist who doesn't suggest the crown.
I appreciate how you go into detail about the different options people have. I've been looking into veneers, but they honestly kind of intimidate me. I'll definitely consider composite bonding instead!
I have composite teeth bonding to close my front gap, it was only £100 per tooth & only needed 4 done & had a whitening treatment. It’s honestly the best decision I’ve made!
Same! I’ve had it for about 19 years and have had to get it redone 3 times in that time and one time is because I chipped my tooth on a fork. I’ve been extremely happy with my bonding! Easier on the tooth, cheaper and doesn’t take long at all, not to mention it holds up very well! I had my front 4 done!
@@burnedwolf I wouldn’t see why not, I did it for my gap but I have some gum that lays lower so they only put composite until where that middle piece of gum lies and I will say….it looked like shit if you pulled up my upper lip, but my smile never showed the top of my teeth so it was okay. I got it done 16 years ago. Think of it as them adding a lightweight concrete to the enamel of your teeth, it should have no correlation to the bone. I’d be surprised if it was an issue
@@burnedwolf visually speaking though, just keep in mind when they ‘close your gap’ your front teeth are gonna look wider. I had no idea of that going into it as a teen lol. They basically added 1/4 extra tooth to each tooth and my front teeth are a ‘standard’ size so it was a shock at first. Depending on how large your gap is you might want to leave a little gap instead of closing it fully in case your worried about how wide your front teeth would look. Next time I wouldn’t try to close it completely but I have a decent gap
I broke my front tooth when i was a kid, and since it was an adult tooth the dentist did composite bonding to reconstruct it. I think they had to put a crown or cap on it and then build on it because it broke so close to the root. I'm 22 now and it's still holding up well, dentists can't even tell i had it repaired unless i tell them.
I chipped my 2 front teeth when I was 8. I got composites and made my teeth even straighter and I love them. What's it been like 22 years? I will say...I had to redo one when I was a teenager. But have had zero problems and im very happy.
@BobRoss-wm3lc na I eat whatever I want. It's like they are my teeth...I mean. They're basically all I've ever known so if I was supposed to do anything different I sure didn't know haha. As far as prep goes you'd have to ask Bentist. Lots of cleaning the surface involved. No shaving for my situation since my teeth were already so far chipped. Like more than 50% up.
My dentist gave me a smile consult after my braces came off. I had a small indent on my right upper tooth that I didn’t like. She went in and changed the shape of my w front teeth and I LOVE them now x they are sort of round where they used to be very square and she told me later on that more round teeth tend to be more youthful in appearance :) love my smile now
My parents made me get composite bonding done when I was 18, after my braces came off. I don’t recommend it to anyone. It’s bumpy and thick and doesn’t even make your teeth look better. I had natural white spots on mine and the composite really doesn’t even disguise them, you can still see them, just slightly less noticeable. Additionally, the composite chips off. I’ve had to have several repairs made in just the six years I’ve had them. I currently have a large chunk missing from my right front tooth, not the tooth itself, just the composite on top. I am choosing not to get it repaired because it will just come off again. Please do not waste your money on this. You will pay more to maintain them than you did to get them done. I’m totally not saying you should get veneers, either. I’m saying cosmetic dental procedures are not worth it. Don’t have anything done you don’t absolutely have to for your health (like having a cavity filled or a root canal).
@@MiVidaBellisimayeah I agree... I have had zero problems with mine. They don't feel any different from my regular teeth. Sounds like it was a skill issue with the dentist 😕
I had a bad issue getting done it ruined two of my teeth it sucks and other's have been saying the same thing i know everyone didn't have the same dentist also!! My new dentist is pissed my old dentist did it to a few of my teeth it doesn't last for chips or broken teeth maybe if you was just wanting White teeth and better looking it wouldn't be as bad but it's the same stuff they use in nail salons to do nails like he said in other video and what do nails do BREAK!!
I have a bit of composit bonding at the side and between my front two teeth. I had braces in my late teens, but due to my bite (deep bite) and the fact that I had smaller teeth, part of the correction involved pulling the teeth inward (think like an upside down flowers petals closing). Due to the short upper teeth, I also couldn't get a final wire (had a sort of invisiline retainer instead). But within a year after getting my braces off, even being diligent with my retainer, my upper teeth kicked out a bit, leaving some small gaps between a couple of teeth (about the thickness of a toothpic). My dentist suggested the bonding to craft a more even aesthetic and give a surface to abut the neighboring teeth. It's been about 10 years and I've only needed the bonding touched up once. I actually love that my smile is minimally enhanced because it still looks like me
As someone who used to suck lemons growing up I ended up having acid erosion on my front teeth but my dentist is going giving me composted to help conceal it!!❤
Un just a good comment i love your videos I’m 10 years old and i have a loose tooth but i wasn’t scared because you said that if you’re tooth is wiggly pull it out because the nerves is not attached anymore and it won’t hurt. When i did it sounds like little bits of tissue ripping apart and that’s when it came out so I’m very thankful about your advice
I have composite binding on my 2 corner teeth. They looked like daggers 🗡️. I was so happy with that, it filled up the gaps and made my corner teeth look normal. It was 25 years ago, they are still looking perfect! The dentist called them facings back then. And he filed them as fillings at my insurance so that it was free.🎉❤
I got composite bonding last year and it’s honestly changed my life, the difference in my confidence just from fixing my wonky shaped front teeth from sucking my thumb as a kid (already had braces to straighten them) has made soo much difference, I love it!
I had to have crowns put on every single tooth. Man, do I have a story about that if you ever want to do a video about it. I came close to losing my teeth, thanks to a prosthodontist/dentist. I would have to remain anonymous because I was forced to sign an NDA, but it is a good warning for other people. Thank God one of my cousins married one of the top cosmetic dentists in the country, in my opinion. I had to drive 6 hours to Greensboro, NC to see him. I stayed at their house and rode to the office. He literally saved every single tooth. It was BAD! Would make a great video. My cousin finished my teeth about 2 years ago. They look and feel amazing.
@user-wo4rk2gv8d it's supposed to be removable I would never recommend this stuff unless you're getting it just to make teeth more white and better looking never for chips or broken teeth it won't hold up after awhile it ruined two of my front teeth!!
@@user-mz9ju5gu5v oh no. How did it ruin two of your front teeth? Did it strip your enamel? I heard that they still have to rough up the enamel a little, so that scares me. And if it wears out after a few years, then I'm assuming they have to rough up the tooth again which weakens it after time. Sometimes all that glitters isn't gold.
@@user-wo4rk2gv8d I had part of my tooth removed from dentist when they did a root canal they built my tooth back up afterwards with composite bonding to make it look like a actual tooth afterwards about 7 months later it fell out the bonding went to have it redone the two years later it fell out again after awhile I was left with no tooth anymore from it taking my real tooth structure with it 7 years later the other side completely fell off taking my tooth with it so I was stuck with both roots of my teeth still stuck in my gums and bone but no tooth left because it took my teeth with it when they came out so I had to have a bridge replace tho two teeth now unfortunately!!
Yeah, you just have to be VERY careful with it since it can chip easily. I can’t tell you the amount of times my composite bonding has chipped because I accidentally bit a piece of food at an angle that caused stress to that particular spot.
When I get the chance to, I am having my dentist do it on all the teeth I have small chips on and I'm having him shave my damn fangs too while at it. Can't wait to eventually have a better smile using this method.
Ngl her teeth do look really good and I'd be inclined to say they look better than before. It might just be her confidence though. I'm a big fan of embracing our individuality, but if it makes her happy, and it's not wrecking her teeth I'd say it's probably fine. If anything it's kind of protecting the surface of her teeth, so if she wants to take it off later in life she'll probably have less damage or staining of her teeth if you think about it. I could be wrong though so feel free to correct me.
@@atherisGAY At least it's reversible, but it really only matters how SHE feels about them. They seem to make her feel more confident, and I'm here for self-confidence.
I'm going this route when everything starts going better with my dental care. It will feel so good to know this is the safest and cheapest way. We love you bentist, always helping us out and caring for us in the best ways possible❤
@@kr0wn.aSSaSSinthey won't have any teeth left from getting it redone constantly when it breaks off their real teeth it ruined two of my front teeth that I had it done on after awhile it doesn't last at all!!
i actually just learned about this, i’ve had a lightly chipped front tooth for years and our family dentist is absolutely terrible and suggested veneers and i didn’t want that and it was soooo expensive
Composite veneers don’t last long at all, not even a couple years. Of course it all depends how well you look after them, but u would definitely have to get them redone again every few years.
No they don't crowns can last that long or a lifetime not bonding that stuff is not good I've had it ruin a couple teeth it's funny he said not ruining your teeth yet it very well does and can to anyone!!
When I chipped my front tooth rollerblading in the 90s my dentist put a composite on it because I was too scared to get a crown. I've had the same bond for over 15 years or more and I fear daily for that composite & having to find a dentist willing to recreate that reliable composite that's lasted over double its expected life span.
I wouldn’t suggest it. I have TMJ and grind my teeth. I had a a root canal done bcuz I broke a filling from grinding my teeth (I didn’t know and got an infection) then I cracked the outside of the composite while grinding my teeth. I was waiting for a crown for it but before I got it on I cracked the outside on the composite which had to be repaired. So I don’t think it’s would be a good idea to get it done. I could see a lot of cracking and breaking.
My mom had tiny adult teeth and had to get veeners, but they were done terribly wrong (gums bleeding even though she took care if her teeth) and when she went to another orthodontist he said she would need crowns, and she did. So the front section of the top row of her teeth is porcelain (i think XD)
My issue with these veneers and bonding is people do the top front teeth when we see more of the bottom teeth when they talk. To me there is a disconnect between the perfect top teeth and the bottom being so crooked or a different shade from the top teeth. I know people can't afford to do all their teeth at once but I think maybe people should just whiten and clean up their original teeth, having big white teeth is not necessarily more attractive especially if it takes away from their own natural attractiveness. I don't mind if people dont have perfect teeth, it makes them look unique.
I’ve had a porcelain veneer since 2015 due to having microdontia. They have lasted perfectly thus far and look extremely natural to match my other teeth. When getting Invisalign, the pegs popped off because I didn’t think to tell them they were veneers and need a different adhesive. when I went to have them put back on, the technician was surprised and couldn’t tell at all.
Except, composite filling can wear down. Mine did. Had to have a different material used. I swear that quack dentist use like temporary filling material on my teeth. They did look good, but they just started disintegrating. I had to keep going back over and over and getting them fixed.
I get composite re building too for my top mollers cause of cavities due to my teeth cracking from mostly impact from my dog head butting me...😂😅 My teeth are doing pretty well now
So my dentist asked me if I wanted to do this for a chip on my front tooth, which is noticeable but he also warned me it would come off very easily. Is that only true for small chips or all composite bonding?
Yes, it is only for small chips because there is not enough tooth structure to hold the composite. This happens in sensitive areas like the edge of front teeth. Composite bonding on bigger surfaces have a very strong hold and are unlikely to come off.
I broke my fronth thoot while skiing it was in half and it was made full again with composite (because I was to young at the time for a crown) it has been over 6 years and it hasnt broken of ever since.
Geez her composite bonding did not look good imo cause her top teeth were too straight, perfect, chunky, and far whiter than her bottom teeth. It looks like she had one of those toy teeth mouth guards on.
I would love composite bonding, she looks absolutely amazing. My top front teeth have shifted slightly since my braces were removed, the shift has caused some wear and tear at the bottoms and it looks awkward. I miss the horseshoe shape, so I think Invisalign and composite bonding will be the way to go for me. Screw getting veneers/crowns if it isn’t necessary 😬
I need to explore this because I did 2 consults…my dds pushed Invisalign but the scan came back no noticeable difference. The 2 cosmetic dds consult told me 10 veneers which I was surprised that much. I just want my laterals to be sized more in line with my front teeth. I like the color already so maybe bonding. Thank you ❤
I have these on three of my upper front teeth that I broke when I was 12 riding a bike in Colombia, and the dentist back then did an amazing job. It lasted beautifully up until a few years ago, it started to look like they needed to look replaced. I’m forty so yeah they held up very good. Sadly when I went to see a dentist here in the US where I live now he convinced me to do veneers and this has been one of the few regrets I have in life. 😢
I had a crown before and it kinda hurt but my friend’s one didn’t hurt when she got it and after it kept falling out so she had to put it back in every time
My daughter has chipped her two front testy on a school residential i took her to emergency dentist and they applied composite bonding. Its held for a year now
I had to get composite bonding on one of my front teeth when I was around 10 years old. A metal see-saw hit me in my mouth and chipped it. How? I guess I was too close... lol. I'm 32 and haven't had to get it replaced yet. Point is, composite bonding can be a great opinion that lasts a long time if you take care of your teeth.
I got composite for my front tooth! I saw some comments saying it lasted them decades, but i was told they only last 5-7 years by my dentist...is this true? I am curious!
I've seen comments from people saying they chipped easily. I have some of it on a few teeth because I got Invisalign and I can confirm it chipped a couple times over the past year.
Dude, mine has lasted 15 years now, they told me the same I got it to cover the gap in my front teeth but I am a smoker and a coffee drinker….so it’s another color to my teeth. If I whiten my teeth it does nothing to the composite, only downside. I use a mail file on the composite here and there to lighten up the stains on it the past few years and that has helped sooooo much. So just be aware of that
