All axioms we've derived so far: Free will is the capacity to act towards the fulfillment of one's desires by overcoming any barriers to said desire. The psyche comprises a person's thoughts, emotions, qualia, and anything which is experienced subjectively by the person The psyche is distinct from matter If free will exists, it is the psyche that possesses free will, as opposed to the matter in their bodies. The quality of possessing a psyche is known as sentience. Free will is context-dependent, varying based on the feasibility and constraints of what one desires in a given context Only entities that are sentient are capable of having desires Psyches can hold information about the external world received through sensory perception, with the amount of information varying based on the sensitivity and functionality of sense organs The ease or difficulty of a task is influenced by the amount of relevant information a psyche possesses through sensory perception about the task and its context The ease or difficulty of tasks is influenced by the capabilities of the body, including muscle memory, physical abilities, and coordination, as well as the availability and proficiency in using external tools Consciousness is the psychic experience of awareness, explicit knowledge, and structured encoding of information, leading to a generalized understanding of concepts and the environment Consciousness, as a psychic experience involving awareness and explicit knowledge, not only provides access to information but also encodes and structures information more efficiently than raw perceptions. This structured encoding allows for a generalized understanding of concepts and causal relationships, enhancing the capacity of individuals to perform tasks effectively and exert influence over their environment. Consciousness includes the capacity to be aware of predictive models and potential future states, allowing individuals to predict the future and take intentional actions that can influence or alter the course of events. Consciousness has the capacity to hold imaginary constructs and ideas in mind, and through focused pursuit and action, can influence the manifestation of those ideas into reality Consciousness is closely tied to the presence of an ego or sense of self, which directs and focuses the conscious mind towards specific objects or goals. The ego enables individuals to mobilize their entire cognitive and physical resources with concentrated effort towards achieving desired outcomes.

@@souvikdas You are 100% correct, my mistake. By "derived" I mean justified in previous videos and then posited as axioms going forward.

If the amount of free will one has is largely determined by the ability to fulfill one’s desires, it seems that animals have greater free will than humans. They may have fewer desires but their ability to fulfill that smaller set is greater than humans who possess many more. To this end I am going to recommend another book to you “The Silence of Animals: On Progress and Other Modern Myths” by philosopher John Gray in which he challenges what he considers the "new religion" of humanism as a self-serving fiction created by, and flattering, us that is just as much a myth as any "old religion." This view of the redeeming power of rationality flies in the face of the chaos of human history. It is an appropriation of the old discredited theories of Social Darwinism that mistakes evolution, which has no goal in mind, with human progress. We generate more and more knowledge but learn little from the experience. We are destined to always struggle with our static human nature where rationality is the servant and not the master of our search for meaning. Gray goes on to illustrate that we are captives of language by not contemplating anything that cannot be put into words. We should learn from the animals, of which we are but one, that it is in silence, by perceiving things as they truly are in front us before subjecting them to description, that the world can truly be appreciated. In Gray's approach, he advocates a godless mysticism similar to that of the tenets of Buddhism and meditation but again without the human-centeredness those systems still contain.

I think you are confusing some terminoligy. It sounds a lot as if you argue for the proposition that consciousness gives you freedom of action. Freedom of will would be something like "being able to choose your desires", since you are coming from a desire-driven view. Freedom of action, as I remember it, would be "being able to do what you desire", which sounds a lot more like what you are saying. Having more options and higher capacity to analyze, predict, design and understand appears to give you more freedom in your actions, I would argue for the same in a similar fashion. Could this be?

I was recently in deep contemplation about the nature of free will, and came to the conclusion that in order to have free will, you would need to be omniscient: If you are unable to know every potential outcome of every action in an undending chain along all possibie branches of the multiverse or probability wave then you cannot act freely, as to act freely would require this knowledge, if you don't know the outcome, then it's not really a choice - it's a GAMBLE. However, if you are omniscient, and you know every potential outcome of every potential action, then even in this case would you have free will? If you know the outcome of every potential action, then you are still bound by the predetermined path that you choose to follow...

I would agree if you define free will as absolute free will. But when you see that free will is a quantity and not an absolute matter, then you will see that one does not need to be omniscient to possess some free will.

It's quite complex and requires a frameshift in thinking, and the current spirit of the age is materialism which likely will remain in place until we are ready to accept a new spirit.

1:40 the word that the guy made up for metaphysics. Made up= Rich people. Powerfull people. Social invincible people. And the social thing thats extremelly sexest/sad/made because of sad/the deppressed thing=the nerd or some random thing weird for them,for a guy cant date/(its 75% more for sex),(65% chance for the likeing/dateing part.)=mostlly about. Its more about haveing sex then dateing for a guy wanting to be with a famous girl. (Its mostlly a guy telling a guy he cant,and not letting the girl even choose=sexist/sad parts.). All the stuff under=made up is social constructs, genicide and fascism are too... Atleast paradoxes are intersting.

Free of what? That's the question. Ultimately there is nothing free, as everything is conditioned.
@nexusvoid314

Does it really make sense to define free was unconditioned? If you have free speech, your capacity to speak is conditioned, but that doesn't necessarily imply that it isn't free.
