Bring external data into your Microsoft 365 Copilot experience to ground generative AI results using connectors and plugins. Use Microsoft Graph connectors to integrate the data sources you want with Semantic Index for Copilot. This option pre-indexes defined read-only information used for retrieval with your prompts to drive the most relevant AI-generated responses. Use managed and trusted plugins, such as OpenAI plugins, Microsoft Teams message extensions, and Power Platform connectors. Instead of pre-indexing information, plugins optimize for real-time API based data retrieval, and they can optionally write-back data.

can the data stay in australia, or do we have send our data to the USA and back? data sovereignty is a big deal for enterprise.

Where can I find the API spec I would need to fulfill to create a connector? Not quite sure what that would be called to know what to search for.

Would be interesting to see how we can put user bases access security on top of this. We don't want the entire sharepoint site och external API to be available to anyone using the copilot.

You can define permissions for both plugins and connectors by user or group.

Excel workbooks can only have around 1M rows, which is why the SEC and many orgs don't use it for large datasets e.g. csv, MS Access DB The data is XML data and if you want to just try to force it asking any LLM Copilot, OpenAI, Gemini "how to extract contents of zip file" then "how to convert XML formatted file to CSV or Excel" I would use python, google collab is a good place to run this stuff if you want to play around with it but the answers to the prompts above will get in you the right direction. I think you are hoping for it to do some data engineering which is a bit more complicated than "EXTRACT" Good luck

Will there be any deep dives (the hands-on reviews) into the new Surface products this year on Microsoft Mechanics? I feel like not including that was a huge miss on Microsoft’s part! I would not put all my eggs and videos into the AI bandwagon basket!

We are huge fans ourselves of Surface and really wanted to do a deep dive on the Laptop Studio 2, but the timelines unfortunately didn't work out for the Fall event. -Jeremy

The login is in the context of the user in this case. There are a few authentication options per the API.

For whom? As far as I know, it is still in a closed beta phase with only a handfull of big customers.
