I hope Shirley appreciates the huge service her kind and compassionate manner gives to the bereaved loved ones left behind. I’m sure her empathy and the dignity she shows to the deceased in their final journey on earth has a lasting impact on how the family cope and remember such a traumatic time in their lives. It was reassuring to see the effort all the workers involved made to ensure the deceased is treated with dignity and respect.
I see what you mean but you have to be careful you don't inadvertently encourage traumatised victims to commit suicide in the belief it will mean the abuser is properly punished...
my best friend killed herself over partly her husband abused I kick up such a fuss it so hard to to proof he has abused her to death it be my word against his, they have a 8 year old son who was 5 when he found her hanging in wardrobe so I have had to love him more than I hate his dad as she not comeing back, if your kniw anyone going though this keep everything 😢

I'd love to see more of these behind the scenes docs. There are so many brilliant people involved - like the female ME technicians, who are so down to earth about dealing with dead folk. Their ladies knickers and wig falling off moment did make me cackle. I admire how they maintain sense of humour but not in a disrespectful way. And the coroner's assistant who also acts as a family liaison. Amazing stuff.
So tragic that a man felt like he had to take his own life to rid his demon's due to sexual molestation. The sexual offender to this man should be held responsible in some way. 😠 I love the extensive care & professionalism these Coroner's take in finding all the right answers for the loved ones. 👍💌
These unsung heroes make what is a horrible time in everyone's life into a bearable time thru kindness, thoughtfulness and respect. It takes a special soul to do this and not everyone can do it. Thank you to all of the unsung heroes. We always think of the ambulance people and Dr's but not the people behind the scenes. How hard their lives will have been with covid.
The compassion, empathy and respect all of the people involved maintain throughout the process is truly admirable and appreciate the dignity they treat each case with. Shirley is a wonderful person, dealing with grieving relatives is incredibly difficult and it’s great they have not become blasé but understand the impact of the work they do for the people left behind.
The comment " Dad would have preferred to be run over by a Ferrari " by his son was fantastic, a true show of the love and close understanding between father and son and his fathers character. It reminds me of an incident many years ago in Manchester where the body, of a rather eccentric, but harmless and likeable Irish man, who used to ride up and down the A6, from Ardwick to Longsight on his bike, with sunglasses on, ringing his bell and wanted to box buses, was released for cremation by the undertakers.................. problem was he was cremated at someone else's funeral earlier, it wasn't noticed till a few days later when everyone was gathered for his wake and thought " Mother of god that's not himself ". When the family was asked for a comment by the local newspaper, who may have thought they had a compensation scoop and angry comments, the reply by them was something like " Be jasus, he'll be up there laughing his head off at all the commotion he's caused, right to the end. " 😆
These ppl are definitely the heroes behind the scenes.. I can't imagine ever wanting this type of profession, it's obviously a hard job but somebody's gotta do it. Mad props to all these folks. They're all so respectful and not just to the family but to the dead as well. Y'all ARE appreciated! 💙
@@skye6074 continue striving toward your dreams. The world of medicine is incredibly fascinating. I was an RN, Trauma Nurse Specialist and lastly, a helicopter flight RN. (We don't use doctors in flight.) IMHO, I've never understood how a person in the medical field could possibly be agnostic or atheist considering the miraculous physiology of the human body. As soon as they explained the suicide I got a tingle down my spine: I work with many people like terry in a programme that is partly there so they can work in a protected environment and get assistance to stop them reaching the point where the depression or PTSD or Schizophrenia gets too much.
The care which all who are involved with determining the death of an individual give must be of some comfort to the family of the deceased. A loved one, irrespective of how he/she died, is still afforded a degree of dignity which they may not have experienced in life. Terry's life was a world away from Fernando's yet the minute they enter into the care of the coroner's team they are equal. Both were remembered fondly by their nearest and dearest and it's obvious Terry's sister and Fernando's son were grateful that the team took good care of their 'dearly departed'. An excellent insight behind the scenes.
"Her majesties coroner" No, she is a heroe, a queen. Coroners are people who do awesome jobs. Without them, we would know little to nothing. They don't only help to give the dead a voice. They help families to get closure. They help getting murderers off the streets. They actually save lives by giving the dead a voice. It is not a glamorous job. But it is a job that earns prestige. And it is so interesting to see how they do their jobs. I studied biology. But the medical part always interested me so much. Death is something that is the marvel of life. Coroners are showing this marvel in a way no one else can.
Kate as an American I can say Americans can be very rude, especially county employees,it's really guide sad. Good to see kindness and empathy does exist.

I was a hospice nurse for 10 years, did lots of end of life care before that as well. This is so well done. The professionalism and respect are just what I would expect and are the same as how funeral homes approach their work. In my mind, the more we can demystify how we care for our dead and dying, the less fear laypeople will have when they face this inevitability in their own lives.
@@scratchy1704 Totally agree I knew instantly nothing would be done about the cyclist speeding as there is no speed limit for cyclists… and it is seen that the bus indicated to pull out right just as the old man stepped off his step and the cyclist sped past the bus to get ahead so fast (selfish)… it’s even said that the cyclist broke a split second before he hit the old man which means the cyclist didn’t have time to stop break or slow down …… as he was going too fast….careless and reckless in not taking care to be aware of pedestrians … and we can see that both ways were clear for the old man to cross then the cyclist came out of no where at high speed … I knew nothing would be done because the cps would say it’s hard to prove the cyclist was speeding as there’s no cycling speed limit…. So sad….
Watching the mortuary technicians wash a corpse gives me the creeps even though I've washed loads myself as a staff nurse, weird. Staff in hospital often talk to the dead and notify them that they're about to wash them, etc , as if they're still listening, why I don't know, possibly to avoid angering the spirits, or bringing bad karma
I am not putting any blame on anyone in the case where the man was knocked down by a cyclist. May the RTA victim be blessed. May the cyclist live a long, healthy life. I think this about what is allowed in London verses other places, like Cambridge & Oxford. As a cyclist in Cambridge, UK, I have been told to always slow right down when overtaking in the town, just as one slows down on very narrow roads when overtaking a bus when driving a vehicle in the town. You have to slow down ENOUGH, to anticipate, a child etc., may have already stepped out into the road before they see you, a cyclist, hurtling towards them in the road. In Cambridge we have loads of narrow roads, such as Kings Parade, Mill Road, Coleridge Rd etc , with huge numbers of potential accidents like this one possible. As a cyclist, or a car with so many side turnings etc. off each narrow road, we ask ourselves, constantly, what do I do if a car suddenly comes out of a side street, slightly up ahead, as I, a cyclist, is overtaking a bus ? You put out your right arm to indicate you intend to overtake the bus, you slow right down, otherwise.. ., if a side turning with car had been where the man walked out..., the cyclist would have hit the side of the car and flown overhead.... What was the speed limit where the cyclist overtook the bus, and how fast was the cyclist moving compared to how fast should the cyclist have slowed down to ? In Cambridge our police give warnings & fines, for cycling too fast for the road conditions. Here, was due care taken for the conditions ? Not the way we are treated in Cambridge.. There would be more than 100 similar accidents like this every day in Cambridge, if cyclist's in Cambridge were seen to have taken due care as this cyclist was seen in London. Slow down

They've got to tick every single box and get it absolutely bang on. The process involves a huge number of people/departments and tons of paperwork. One case is just a tiny cog in a continually revolving system processing incidents that vary in terms of complication - which in turn has an effect on manpower and resources. That said Fernando's unfortunate demise happened under the jurisdiction of coroner Alison Thompson - who is renowned for her thoroughness, and, given it's Richmond, undoubtedly has the funding to ensure she can get it 100% and not do a rush job. Which is pretty lucky for such a well established family. I got the impression that his son Eduardo was very, er, satisfied with the results of the inquest. I did wonder how that poor cyclist was feeling though ☹️
no all are murders, if you fell down stairs died and wasnt found for a week then you'd need an autopsy...i think 75 is very little i thought it would be in the 3 or 4 hundreds
seemed as someone tried to set fire to the body so as to cover up the death. 75 deaths each week is quite a lot of deaths. That's an average of ten (or so) a day. also: imagine going to a families death only to die while visiting family. 🙏
Decay often looks awhile lot like it's been burned. Many inexperienced medical examiners have corrected themselves, after assuming bones have burned but have not. It's never easy, that's for _sure._ 🤗 Not saying that's what has happened here, but it does happen irl often.
I was also extremely grateful to the first responders who attended. The police ensured the safety of the corpse and made sure nobody came in and that my cats didn’t get out. I stayed in another room.
I emailed the coroner's office and asked for a copy of my late brother's post mortem report. They sent it by return and it helped me understand and process his death.
The lady called Anne Marie wh was one of the 3 lady’s working on preparing the body’s used to come to the hairdressers I worked in in hayes middx coldhabour lane she used to tell us funny story’s about her job she still has the same hair 30 years later and she hasn’t aged at all

As longtime cyclist, I blame the reckless cyclist for not reducing his lightning speed while passing the bus, since he couldn't have known if any danger existed in front it.
The suicide case is very sad…😢and the restaurant owners death was tragic…the poor cyclist has to live with that every day now…they all do amazing work to find out the cause of death for the families…they need medals ❤

People arent sitting around waiting for an RTA to come in, they are very busy & the incident has to be investigated thoroughly & by more than one place.
No one was to blame? He walked out into a road that he was familiar with and knew that cyclists frequented it. The lesson is, be alert, be careful, roads are dangerous.
that's completely untrue, the coroner's job, and jury is to decide how the person died and what/who caused it if possible, the medical evidence can be provided by toxicologists or other specialists not connected to the coroner, someone lied to you and you swallowed it
