Old South Winery, in Natchez, MS uses Muscadine Grapes for making wine. He threw the skins out in the pasture and his old arthritic bull ate the skins and got to jumping around like a baby! He bottled the skins and people take them for their arthritis.
Hey y'all. What a great video. I laughed so much 😂😂. You two are so amazing. I'm a 71 yrs old grammy that looks forward to each of your video's. Be well. Stay save ❤🧑🦳🏜️🌵
❤❤❤ Mildred is so so gorgeous ❤ I love her so much that I burst into tears of joy when you shared the vet's words ❤❤❤ Yes Dr D please help Brooke and Jason breed her when the time us right ✅️ 🙏 ❤️ ♥️ 💖
Father, Jason lost the drive shaft. But, Lord it is not lost to you. You see it right now. I don’t know how You do it, but You always bring it to me. Thank You for Your perfect eyes. Amen and amen.
My Grandma made elderberry jelly. She gave her grands a case for Christmas. I wonder if she knew that she was keeping us well as it now sold to remedy respiratory illness.
I just sold my home just east of Pensacola, FL where I had a 40 foot long trellis of muscadines and scuppernongs. I strained the cooked juice through a strainer and then several times thru cheese cloth until the juice was pretty and clear. I made jelly for all my neighbors. I also made pear preserves from my trees. Yum!
Oh my! Jason is full of orneriness on the live! He has me laughing! Especially when he was talking about Mildred swiping thru the web site to pick out a bill she liked! He even cracks himself up lol! 😂 😂 😂😂
Yes, been wondering about Nugget, glad he’s doing well. Can’t wait for little Nuggos. I think Mildred will make a good Momma. Can’t wait to see All the new babies on the farm. 💚
Wow exciting news about Mildred possibly getting pregnant. She would be such a great mother. You two are so hilarious talking about getting the “Stuff” for Mildred to get pregnant.
My aunt many many years ago took the children and picked wild muscadine wild purple grapes, she made jelly and canned the juice . Come breakfast she opened this jar of concentrate added water and sugar to taste poured into a glass and this was named “ drinking” it was the best grape juice I have ever had then or even now. Your conversation regarding muscadines brought that treasured memory of sitting around the dining room table smells of fresh smoked fried ham, Scrambled fresh eggs , homemade buttermilk biscuits and fresh churned butter and my Mother, father, Aunt and Uncle’s conversation as we enjoyed breakfast . All us children intent on our wonderful breakfast and “drinking”
That sounds so lovely and yummy! I had child hood memories of our treasure hunts of wonderful honey suckel when they were talking about gathering it for jelly.❤
As you talked about the driveshaft I 'saw', in my minds eye 👁, it laying in long grass against a fence or shelter. I will keep working on it for you ❤❤❤
Would still like to see a clip about "The Boys", their job, their routine, play, etc. With all the bad news right now it's like a mini-vacation to watch your family and animals.
My daughter and I use to make jelly and jam to sell at the farmers market. Some people would gripe about the price. But you have to add in the price of jars and sugar and the fruit plus your time.
We have beach plums here on Long Island NY on our beaches in the summer for a short time and all the jelly makers rush out to get them before the season is over! Beach plum jelly is delicious!
I've used a 4 c Pyrex, water with a cinnamon stick and some cloves and simmered it for a bit to freshen the microwave. Leave it in there till it's cool and wipe out the interior. It scents the entire kitchen, you could also put the cooled water/spices in a saucepan and simmer on the stove for a few hours if the entire house has lingering smell. You might check your owners manual to be sure it doesn't have a filter that needs washing. Blessings Jan
That was exactly how my husband did things. He could only find things if he retraced to ‘the last place he used it’. 🤔 If that failed,,,buy another one😂
Hope that jelly turns out. Certainly an adventure. With another adventure yet to come finding the drive shaft. Aww. Mildred would make a beautiful baby. ❤❤❤❤❤
Aww Mildred needs a baby. She loves all the animals she is with. Also I made Red Bud jelly this year which has those little blooms. It is so good. Everyone loves it.
Just a couple suggestions, Jason, you just put that auger point on the trailer I mean tractor would it be over by that or else were you going to get lubrication for it so you took it over by the VW bus or where you keep your grease? Those are the suggestions I have for you. I hope one of them works for you lol
Jason I'm just like that !! It's just fine !! I have ADHD and there is many good things about it but a few bad. Our minds work so fast that we can't keep up with it. You are good !! 💖💖💞💞👍👍
Thank you for making my heart happy! Your humor is wonderful!! Jason, one of my co-workers burned a bag & it went thru the ducts at our factory warehouse!! Omgosh!!!😂
We have Concord grapes 🍇 and a steamer. We home can the juice and drink it daily. Make fresh grape jelly as needed. So different from store bought grape juice. The kitchen smells divine when steaming.
You guys make me laugh during this time every week. I just love all of your videos. I love the fact your your farm animals are pets. I love the way Jason talks to them every day.
Your honeysuckle project sounds like what they go through to make saffron from crocus stamens( the little rods in the middle of the crocus flower that has the pollen on it)It takes 4,000 crocus flowers to make 1 ounce of saffron! Loved the honeysuckles as a kid!
Your muscadine is a southern version of our northern concord grape. The best taste is when you crush and boil the mash until the skins start to get mushy. Then strain it all for the juice. It takes more sugar than you think it should. You could adjust that to your taste and fruit sweetness using special pectins. I got our grape jelly/jam recipe down to perfection. As proof I have a picture of our Daughter with it smeared across her face "testing the quality" as we were canning that year's batch.
I love honey suckel. Childhood memories of tromping around in the fence lines and brush eating honey suckel and that yummy jewel at the end of the stamen and the smell when you are riding down the country roads ❤
The wooden flag you have behind you looks like the ones Brandon Eddy used to make when they lived in town on their channel Rustic Wood Works. It's beautiful. He even personalized them for people.
My Mom always made jelly, jam, and syrup out of the Michigan cherries from the big cherry tree we had in our back yard. My Dad made brandy from the cherry as well!! Miss them so much!!!!
I just love you two ❤️ I so understand people losing things. All three of my kids and my husband have ADHD. It can be so frustrating. The conversation around the dinner table for me can be confusing.
from Google - Guernseys are the gentlest of cows. Brown Swiss are nice, too. Jerseys (in my opinion) have a bit of the Napoleon complex; they are smallish but have an attitude. In general, dairy cows are more docile than beef cattle, mainly because they are raised with a lot of human contact.
My mom made grape, raspberry, blackberry, strawberry, cherry, and apple jelly, jams, and preserves. Oh yes, plum preserves too with prune plumbs. Yum yum yum.
That's too hot for early May! Makes me like West Michigan even more. Brook, as nice as your sewing projects have turned out, you could hem up shorts. 😉
Regarding breeding Mildred: cattle are all from the genus “bos” which is subdivided into two species - “bos Taurus” which is all European cattle like Angus, Hereford, Holstein, etc - and “bos Indicus” which is Brahman cattle. One of the important factors in breeding anything is called “hybrid vigor” - taking the best of each breed to make the hardiest combination. (This is why mixed breed dogs are stronger and hardier than purebreds). The strongest crossbreed is made by crossing species - something that is possible only with cattle. That is what Brahmans are used for. Brahman are used in Southeast USA to breed for heat tolerance and parasite resistance. ( Yep, remembering all those things I learned in vet school! 😻) I
For someone who loves a good double entendre but still loves Jesus, I laughed sooooo hard when ya’ll were talking about AI. “Don’t look at me. I’m not doing the extraction!!!” ~Jason Smith. 😂🤣😂
Worked around in my backyard volunteer flowers that I was taking care of and even since the end with a brand new plastic fence in the pumpkin. Play down and took a nap and woke up went out look at my volunteer garden and now I see why God said don't put out a garden. I thought it was because of my leg and Ron's heart, oh no the return of the groundhog, he almost ate every flower , and that and that was with the fence but it's a plastic fence it was 44.00 it was 4 ft high 100 ft long to easy to put up. And the groundhog chewed through it in two places. 😊
Years ago, I worked in a small accounting office and one of the girls microwaved popcorn every afternoon. Every single day she got distracted and the smell! Oh lordy it would just about gag a maggot. 🤣😂🤣 Never forgot that smell! Texas Deb❤
You can pick those honeysuckle blooms and put them with the ends snipped of into a box of plain black, white, or green, tea leaves, a layer of tea, then a layer of honeysuckle, then a layer of tea, etc...all the way up. Let it dry that way, and it makes a beautiful tea
Y'all need to get a Whirley Pop corn popper (the stainless steel one). It makes the best popcorn ever. It's way better than the microwave stuff and takes about the same amount of time. You use it right on the stove top. Use a tablespoon of coconut oil and a table spoon of butter and add popcorn kernels. There's a turner built into the handle that you just slowly turn (like the movie pop corn machine) and it stirs the kernels as they're popping. After about 2 minutes the corn will stop popping and you have delicious fluffy popcorn. You can make jelly from lots of different flowers. Wild violets, lilacs, peonies, roses. It's the same recipe for them all. Floral jellies are so good. There used to be a honeysuckle vine at the house that I grew up in and I remember sucking the "honey" out of the flowers. Great memory!
I live at the southmost tip of Texas, in Brownsville. Today is Thursday, May 9, 2024, and our high temperature today is predicted to be 106°F! That’s hot! 20° over normal.
My niece made corn cob jelly!! It was a lot of work to!! After u eat the corn off cob then u boil the cobs for some time. After that u strain the water with cheesecloth and the rebook the water and start adding the ingredients!! When finished it was a beautiful yellow color!! Delicious too!!
The heat takes it out of me too. I’ll sleep so much deeper and longer after being in the heat all day and after a cool shower and a hot tea. But I agree with Brooke too much sleep gives me a headache and makes me feel bad too. Love the banter between you two🫶🏻
My mother made jelly out anything we kids would pick. We never did honeysuckle. We picked wild grapes, black berries and dew berries along the roadside. We rode our bicycles everywhere!
Yes, Brooke you’re right. They do ship it in dry ice and it comes in what they call a straw and it has to be proper placement and they stick their whole arm up our cows rear end to put it in there lol late husband used to be a Herdmanfor a dairy farm he had to go to classes through select sires and they taught you how to place this joy juice lol
Could it be sitting under another piece of equipment? That is weird... and I know Dee Dee wouldn't have buried that, right? LOL BIG hugs and blessings from Texas! 🤠🤗
I remember when my ex-mother-in-law taught me how to make freezer jam. And we would pick strawberries, or we would buy a bucket of frozen strawberries. That was my ex- husbands favorite jam. I also made peach freezer jam, and it was AWESOME .
