The Coronavirus (COVID-19) has been declared a global pandemic by the World Health Organization. It is an uncertain time with a lot of unknowns, and while we do not have all the answers we want to share what we do know.
COVID-19 is a respiratory illness that can spread from person to person. It spreads between people who are in close contact with one another (within about 6 feet) Symptoms can include fever, cough, or difficulty breathing, and can range from mild (or no symptoms) to severe illness. There is currently no vaccine to protect against COVID-19. The best way to protect yourself is to avoid being exposed to the virus. Staying home as much as possible, wearing cloth face covering that covers your nose and mouth in public settings, washing your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, or using an alcohol-based hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol, and cleaning and disinfect frequently touched surfaces.
Everyone is at risk of getting COVID-19. Older adults and people of any age who have serious underlying medical conditions may be at higher risk for more severe illness. Please stay home and self-quarantine if you are sick, except to get medical care. There is no specific treatment for COVID-19, but you can seek medical care to help relieve your symptoms.
Unfortunately, Grampa’s Boxing Gym (GBG) doors were temporarily closed under a statewide government shutdown due to COVID-19. During this shutdown Team GBG has continued to work hard in order to ensure a safe environment upon reopening. Team GBG’s number one priority has been and always will be to ensure the safety of our boxers, staff, coaches, and community.
Due to the impact of the virus, we are reminded about the importance of our health and wellness. We hope you are all continuing your training and staying active. However, if you or anyone you know is suffering from mental health issues please reach out to professional help, or our team immediately!
We are looking forward to the day we can resume our regular schedule. In the meantime, we have sanitized the gym equipment and commonly touched areas weekly. Moving forward, we will continue to disinfect every hour while the gym is in use. We pride ourselves in always maintaining a clean gym. However, we will be working extra hard to maintain a sanitized facility and comply with CDC guidelines.
Grampas Boxing Gym will be reopening exclusive to our members by appointment only. Please schedule a training session with your coaches, call 714-622-4874, or through Mindbody app. We plan to reopen our doors to the public May 16, 2020.
On behalf of GBG, I want to thank you for your patience and membership loyalty to GBG during these tough times.
God bless, -Owner Jessica Rene
