See the hows and whys of actual custom cowboy hat making at O'Farrell Hat Company in downtown Santa Fe, New Mexico. Narrated by the owner, Scott O'Farrell. www.ofarrellhat...
O'Farrell hats are simply the finest products made in America. I have two---one 50+ years old. I wear them every day, good weather or bad. I get them totally soaked and yet they retain their shape. In 50+ years, I have had my first O'Farrell blocked exactly ONCE----when it got crushed on a plane. I now live in Paris and I get so many comments on it. I have even had young women try to steal it from me, it is so beautiful. Scott, your hats are a TREASURE, worth every penny!
Love this. Raised in SF and have always admired this shop from afar! I'm in TV now and the show I'm working on is coming to Santa Fe in August to shoot! Sending all my cast and writers to you, and sharing this video with them as further motivation. By the end of production I'll have enough saved up for my own custom fit. :) Cheers!
I love these kind of video's. Getting a custom made western hat is a dream of mine but there is know where in Australia that makes these kind of custom hats.
One another reason why the world Loves America is due to the Cowboy Hat America has given to the World. Dear Sir, May I kindly request you to open a shop in Abu Dhabi or Dubai, so that we can market it all over the Middle East, Indian subcontinent and beyond.
Scott made my first custom hat for me 2 years ago. The process of getting my head measured with the most fascinating antique machine (weird peanut shaped head!), choosing color, shape etc along with the extreme intimacy of wearing a hat fit just to me that WILL NOT BLOW OFF has been the experience of a lifetime. Worth every darn penny and more. Treat yourself to the best and be prepared to get bored by compliments.
My GGGGG grandfather came over from Ireland, fought in the American Revolution, ultimately settled down in Alabama, and became a hatter, according to a newspaper article covering his passing, that I found online......... His name was John McDowell.
Hey. I came from more of a factory environment. So, we did things a little different. But there is room for more ideas. If you ever want some ideas on how we sold millions of bucks worth of hats in 50s, 60s and 70s dollars out of a tiny retail space in Houston. It's a different concept than the way you do it. Totally different. We were part custom, part factory and my dad developed systems and ideas to make it all work. I miss getting my hands on a good hat. I'd like to come see how you guys do it. Excellent video. You sound like you know what you are talking about. Sam Silver Grandson of the founder of the American Hat. Co. Est. 1915
I have 9 stetsons hats and I want a 100x but the stetson presidente is 5 inch crown and 4 inch brim but I want 4 inch crown and 5 inch brim on 100x , it looks like I found the company.
Jealous, Not one , custom hat company shop anywhere in Australia, unlucky us ..yes we have Akubra, great hats but don’t have the personal touch like your hat making shops in the states 👍
Hi Scott. I knew your dad. Your dad knew my dad. I am the grandson of the founder of the American Hat Company in Houston. I have some hat stories. We need to hang out.
