perhaps the one time someone boldly said “cancel me!” and it …worked. instagram: imthehonestboy twitter: imthehonestboy business inquires: muyhonest@gmail.com
Shoot I didn't even cancel buddy. He was never on for me and the only reason I know about him is because of YesJulez mess and iirc something about OG. What was he even known for outside of that? 🤔
That same woman saying she didn’t want to be black and laughed saying who wants to be a black woman is now darker than Megan Goode and is always seen with box braids talking in AAVE I showed my friend that’s never heard of or seen yes Julez and and she thought she was a black women
A lot of Black ppl won’t cancel almost anyone regardless of being problematic if they like their music. Daniel managed to be the exception to that rule out of pure spite lmfao.
It’s because he’s unattractive, that’s the only reason why people were so quick to cancel him so because he’s not even problematic…just ignorant. His comments were not that deep but when you tweaking AND are unattractive too, people gone let you be.
Cause he doesn’t have a cult fan base that will defend his actions like Kanye for example. It’s the sad truth that if you have a massive fan base, you can’t be cancelled.
literally racism exists in every race ( black, white, asian, etc…) i think there definitely is LESS then there was but it’s not completely just non existent 😭🤦♀️ but i think maybe it’s meant like people need to stop using race we are equals. as “racism doesn’t exist”
I honestly think if he kept coming with hits people would've forgiven him. A ton of black male artists have said way worse. But he released a lot of soulless music with a lot of wait time between and never dipped his foot in pop like his contemporaries (Brent Faiyaz, Frank Ocean, Giveon etc) were willing to do
I agree but I also think because people are materialistic and have been calling the man ugly, is one of the reasons why the community didn’t stay with him because there has definitely been worse than this guy. I literally saw a comment that said “we all were thinking this whole time that Daniel Caesar was ugly but he can sing and he’s nice so we let him be ugly but then he decided he wanted to save white people.”
Artists talking about race is not an issue, this is such a bad take lmao edit: love how idiots misread my comment and proceeded to fight the literal air
@@purkiplory As someone who stated he was trying to "broaden horizons" with race as a black man who grew up in a mostly white neighborhood, then proceeds to defend a problematic white woman when he should've learned from before to educate himself, or sat there and ate his food but not did not do so, was a bad take. As you can tell.
@@purkiploryit’s not necessarily an issue. How they go abt it then forth however very much is. Esp if they are of that race and find the need to keep punching down without any real thinking.
I have a serious question. Did YesJulz ever come to Daniels defense when people cancelled him??? I mean he stuck his neck out for her. Did she do anything for him??
Obviously being called gay really hurt his feelings..... Honestly if somebody called me gay I would just laugh cuz I know what I am and let it Go this girl was so touched
@@florencembah2626He doesn't think very fondly of them and goes on a lot about trans ppl not being real and anyone who is just pretending to be something they're not. Stuff like that 💀
Sometimes they say things they don't mean but in his case he wasn't having an outburst, he was talking like he wanted to educate the world so yes, he definitely means that.
I’ve never heard of this man but suffice to say as a black kid who was raised in the Ontario suburbs internalized hatred/white appraisal is a very common aspect of the black Canadian experience. I was one of like 7 black people in a class of 120 students and you do get lost in that dynamic regardless of how much you try to stay aware of your place in the white power structure. So a rise and fall like this is completely not surprising. Coming to the defence of white people, hoping they’ll come and rescue you cuz “hey! I’ve shown love to them” and that just never happening. Sad to see cuz he seemed like he definitely was gonna go places.
No one at that table stopping him from talking on that livestream is crazy. Bc I know if one of my friends was drunk on IG live and they started talking crazy, I’d end the live stream for them
Not trying to be rude but how tf are you going to say those things and look like that?! Yk? It’s like with Kodak Black making colorist remarks it’s just weird. I’m from Canada as well and we do not have the same experience as Black Americans. That behaviour is just gross and unacceptable and just plain disgusting. Love your videos honest!
I think people that look like him and Kodak have issues with their skin color or looks. That’s why they go so hard to try to be accepted by others or are colorist. I think they’ve been hurt and try to hurt others.
Poor guy. I don't feel bad for him because he literally dug his own grave, but I feel bad for black people who have this assumption that other black people are always on everyone's necks about everything, but get offended when someone is on our necks. I feel like that assumption by itself comes from being online too much and not hanging around black people. He goes "y'all got offended by racism? Guys come on racism doesn't exist anymore it's only a joke", it's so sad to ignore all the violent racism that continues to occur towards black people (and other minorities) to this day. But I never listened to him really so I didn't know this happened 😅
If he was truly “drunk as f*ck” as he claimed in the video, I wonder if he has looked at his use of substances, because this live basically cost him his career.
Im sorry, am i the only person who felt that calling someone Gay as a joke was in such poor taste? Dave chappel is known to not talk about trans people favorably. So why was that brushed off so quickly?
dave chapelle has never said anything rude about trans people. he’s made jokes because he’s a comedian, learn how to take a joke. he wasn’t actually calling the dude gay, he was just poking fun.
@@laxsneha it’s not problematic it’s a joke. he’s just saying he was kinda fruity. last time i checked gay men love calling other people twinks or gay. it’s all in good fun, daniel shouldn’t have taken the jab as an insult.
Not a yt person or a Canadian came to his rescue. Even Bieber couldn’t help revive his career. He permanently lost me after caping for that problematic girl
The only reason most of us knew about him was because of the Instagram Live video. He hadn't done enough up to that point to secure himself in the entertainment industry, especially in this current, fickle one where artists come and go like leaves on a tree branch each changing season. It's not enough of a "too bad, so sad" moment. Just like the Roman emperor he shares a surname with, his unearned hubris led to his metaphorical murder.
There's low-key a lot too that can be said about black artists that are NOT ethnically African American yet build there careers off of African American culture or music, disrespecting us unprovoked. It's so weird. Akon, Busta Rhymes, and Burna Boy are other clear examples of this, but unlike Daniel, they had big and diverse enough fanbases to survive the backlash 😶 Edit: For the people that keep commenting, I am WELL aware that Burna Boy was an established superstar in Nigeria. That does not negate the fact that ... a) two of his biggest hits are sampled from two black American women respectively (Toni Braxton and Brandy) and b) the comments he made about African Americans falling behind other groups "because we don't know what country we came from" is woefully ignorant and was unnecessary to make in the context of the transcripted interview he was doing So yes, I will gladly call him out alongside the others. But let's make something clear, this comment is NOT an attempt to ignite a war between different black cultural groups. The point is, if you're going to dabble and profit off of another group's culture or aesthetics, don't be weird and shady towards them while doing it. This goes for everyone, including African Americans.
Burna Boy’s career is not based off of your culture or music or disrespecting black Americans. He was doing his thing in afrobeats & you all obviously liked the music and started vibing with it. His primary fanbase is in Nigeria so of course he’s going to be fine. Also he’s generally disrespectful to everyone so it’s not special or peculiar to black Americans.
@@melliexcx Burna's biggest international hit is a Toni Braxton sample. So he also falls into that category. Just because his persona is being "disrespectful" doesn't mean he can't be called out. He can say whatever he wants, and I can criticize him for it if I want 🤷🏾♂️
@@chillbro5145Burna boy has never disrespected black Americans, you sheep just feed off lies of the blog and media. Even his last album pays homage to old school r&B and hop. Stop the disrespect
I was one of those religious Daniel Ceaser fans especially when Freudian came out but after him defending Jules who at the time I’d never even heard of this girl I was just like nahhhh. Why am I giving my streams and potential money to this man… it was completely unavoidable as well. Like just mind your business 😭😭😭
There's a reason he said to cancel him. He didn't think it was possible. He knows how the industry works. The suits decide who to force down our throats. Little did he know! Once the audience disappears... 💅🏾
The only reason he was successfully canceled was because he wasn’t that famous to begin with. His fanbase wasn’t enough to outweigh the cancellation. Otherwise he’d be sitting pretty up there with Chris Brown and the rest of the “canceled” but still rich & famous people.
Freudian is a masterpiece and is one of the soundtracks of my adolescence. I honestly didn’t even know what happened to him but I always wondered why he disappeared. Also CASE STUDY 01 was super disappointing to me.
Dont forget that he started his rise due to his *HBCU* college tours, and the girls on the campus were the ones to push his music onto radio stations and off of cloudsound... yep... lol
"I might not have the typical black American experience because I grew up in white neighborhoods in Canada" gee I wonder where I've heard that before...seems we got a pattern of downfalls here huh?
i dont see why people got mad at daniel for telling chappelle that he got his feelings hurt. Think about it, chappelled called his music very gay, he said it with a straight face, nobody laughed, and when he made a joke about john a few seconds later, he said he was just joking and patted him on the shoulder. Chapelle didnt even try to make the gay joke witty or with a pun, he was just like, yup, that shits gay. like yall dont have to cancel chapelle but at least dont get angry for daniel speaking up, i mean he didnt even yell at him he was just like "wtf was that dave". Also not seeing when he got cancelled, like even as of this date, with his "mediocre 3rd album" hes still commanding 27 million monthly streamers, more than ice spice, tyla, or giveon.
I only know of him because he was featured on Peaches w/ Justin Bieber. I wonder why Giveon fell off I haven't heard of him at all since 2020. Last thing I knew he performed at the BET awards & then disappeared. I wonder did he fall in some sort of controversy ?
Even though Daniel was wrong, he’s been cancelled because he doesn’t have pretty privilege and he’s not iconic. Both Chris Brown & Kanye have said worse things about black people yet they are still thriving due to pretty privilege & talent on Chris part and being talented & iconic on Kanye’s part. I like them both as artists but I’m just being honest 🤷🏽♀️. Daniel is talented but he’s not iconic because he wasn’t established just yet and he’s considered unattractive to many.
The only song I know of Daniel is that he was featured on Bieber’s song “Peaches”. I’ll have to check out his own music! I had no idea Daniel had a lot of controversy. Regardless, he deserves respect at the end of the day.
It's crazy how a bunch of people are saying "who?" when he has millions of monthly streams on spotify 💀 you've more than likely heard a couple of his popular songs but don't recognize the name or face
