I think the blunderbuss does it quite well. With not having bullets proccing at all naturally. But as for bullets I don't think it's a very complicated situation at all they should proc anything, no talents, no tempo, they're just a projectile that does nothing. Ether bullets, Armor piercing rounds etc should be kept for the actual m1 rather than the bullet, I know they're meant for the bullet but if you wanted to balance them right I feel like that would be a healthier way to go around to doing so. also remove bullets being able to spine cutter lol. already spoke to arch about that tho.. Maybe also give bullets damage fall-off so they're less effective at range but keep the talents, or get add fall-off and get rid of talents, honestly there's a lot of ways to fix it.
I really like the reload system that one handed gun uses to actually elevate the skill floor a bit with resource management. It also prevents the gun from being a complete zone tool with actual downtime implemented. I would like to see rifle have a similar system for bullets but people have a general distaste for one handed gun’s reload.
my opinion -remove bullets, just add more pen to normal guns -fix dual gun hitboxes (literally at close range you cant hit anything) -nerf magewoken, bring back m1s being prevalent
I loathe fighting rifle users, while some of them can be fine if you’re fighting a dude who has his heart set on zoning you no matter what, you’re gonna have a horrible time fighting. Which is exactly why I use stormseye because I wanna give people a horrible time while I’m fighting them.
You see, the issue with adding range weapons to Deepwoken actually has an under meaning, incentives the difference in playstyles. People are complaining about "No gameplay diversity", that everything has the same pattern type shit. Well, because of people like you, who actually vote for rifles and ranged weapons to be added, and then complaining about how "unfair" and "not fun" rifles are to fight against, the people are complaining about no gameplay diversity. Rifles, same as pistols - are meant to play ranged. I personally like diversity in gameplay, no matter what it is. The game must not have about 100 weapons that all feel, plays and counters the same. The thing is, Deepwoking is about overcoming difficulties. Ranged weapons are indeed supposed to be played as a ranged weapon. Overcoming the difficulties of fighting it is the same as overcoming a difficulty of fighting a hard mob, boss or melee player for example. Sure, the balancing supposed to still be in game, but devs don't need to ruin the fun hy overbalancing the shit out of it. By default, no weapons are equal. They have their own strengths and weaknesses. So why don't embrace them, instead of trying to make everything the same and "equal"? Give it a good thought.
Rifles are all strength bro. They are blunt which negates some posture and resistances, have auto roll catch, and can be played at any range. The thing that ruins build diversity is that some builds are undeniably better, and more importantly way more versatile than others (stormeye arcwarder builds that are tanky and have no effective counter.) Like it or not this game needs some sort of balancing and equality. I main jetstriker fists and made it to 1600 elo with a hit and run playstyle, but guess what, rifles invalidate any and every way I play completely since they have no counters, and somehow are doing more damage and are more tanky than my build is.
Forgot to mention that along with all the other free privilege stormseye has, it also has a teleporting aerial that completely invalidates the normal counter to arial m1s
I HATE rifles, most of their gameplay is SO cheesy. I just hate how they can just long range us out. If you get hit once by a rifle silent heart, your dead. He won't let you move. It's a horrible experience playing against rifle users overall.
This was already a thing way back when dual hand guns got bullets on their criticals. It's been a thing for a while and rifles arent the only ones who can range people as single hand guns and dual guns exist. Personally I don't really see the issue since the PVP in deepwoken has changed a lot during it's lifetime and now we have a bunch of gap closers to counter the exact strategy you talk about. I did like when guns didn't have ranged m1's though since i've always been a close-quarters type of guy but this is a personal opinion and really has nothing to do with an issue with the game. Really my point is your hate for rifles may just that you dislike the way deepwoken pvp has turned into over the year and not a core issue with the game.
I wouldn't say you're too far off. Gap closers do exist, how ever since the game shifted to mantrawoken, ways to zone and other things have become more prevalent as well. While ranged things aren't inherently bad, the fact that rifle can do it as often as it can is in my opinion. Really good comment though.
Anything that promotes a passive playstyle is a bad thing because thats when the game is at its worst. Projectile m1s dont deserve to be in the game, they themselves said they never wanted to add ranged weapons, and they ended up doing it anyway. Because there was little reason to use iron bullets back in verse 1, they were just adding random shit to try and buff it. Now ether bullets are completely useless, true ether is a gutted talent no one uses, and guns have devolved into abusing cheese and range all the time. Especially stormseye and rosens peacemaker, having innate bullets for 0 reason. Remove projectiles, buff true ether. Theres still a reason to use iron bullets because of 35% pen, more damage and casings.
