The ladies from the Caribbean are spanking the field . Let's just recognize that 4 Americans ,3 Jamaicans , and one European athlete can boast that they participated in this World Record run ! Thank you goes out to Devynne Charlton of the Bahamas and also thanks to Julien Alfred of St. Lucia who ran the flat 60. They both beat the competition convincingly and are truly remarkable and well deserving athletes.

The Bahamas might not have a huge contingent of international athletes in international events, however, the athletes we do have, women hurdles, women 200m/400m men 200/400m etc, are in the top 5 in the world and probability of winning gold is high. Good luck 242.

It was almost inevitable that this record would go. Anyone of about ten athletes could have broken the record and I would be surprised to see the new record beaten again this season.

Yea even Devynne said that herself after the race that anyone could take down the record especially since USAs is this weekend. But there is something to be said about being the first one to break the record that stood for 16 years. Names like Keni Harrison, Lolo Jones, Sally Pearson etc have all came close but Devynne got to it first.

So, when she was in the blocks prior to running a fantastic race and breaking the world record, Auto Bolton did not even mentioned her as a possible contender to win….not until she destroyed the field and broke the WR, he mentioned her….. Hopefully, he learned something while being an announcer.
