People are complaining as if he just started sampling Naija artists recently, No, he has been doing this way before. He had sampled DBanj, Flavor Nabania and a few others. A few years ago in an interview in his home country Tanzania he did confess that he had been borrowing a leaf from the Naija artists and he openly admitted that he owes much of his international success to collaborating and understudying the Nigerians. We just have to leave him alone since all that he’s doing is simply translating the Naija hits into his native Swahili and nothing more. It’s well.

As an East African, I'm proud to say that we look up to Nigerian music and art A LOT! As a matter of fact, Nigeria has put the rest of Africa on the global map. Nigerians are musical geniuses and fine, what Diamond is doing isn't right at all, but this shouldn't separate both cultures. Share your blessing. You should hear some of the original music that comes from this side. Nothing more than a lullaby. I wish Africa could be more like Jamaica, in Jamaica a producer makes a public domain beat, everyone hops on it and it's called a riddim. In Africa it's called theft. But I guess business first right?
@Nat-wu4kj
@Nat-wu4kj Год назад
West Africans sing Afro beat which has cultural and historical significance to West Africans, what's the point of copying others? Tanzians love their music, the Naija wave is just a problem in Kenya. A few artistes like Diamond are the ones embarrassing Tanzanians by copying Naija music
@mrshilling
@mrshilling Год назад
@@Nat-wu4kj Actually, afrobeat is NOT nigerian or west african, otherwise it would have been called Naijabeat...in case you didn't know, the "Afro" in Afro beat stands for AFRICAN which means it's a genre of music that incorporates AFRICAN soul and jazz instrumentation. It doesn't matter where in Africa it's produced from. Read a book. 🤷‍♂
@Nat-wu4kj
@Nat-wu4kj Год назад
@@mrshilling the cultural origin of Afro beat is West Africa, stop deceiving yourself. Just as Rhumba is to Congo and Kwaito is to Southern Africa. The Swahili race is not known for Afro beats. Whatsoever. You need to do some research. Why then does Diamond have to copy the Naija version of Afrobeat? Don't we have Afrobeat in Tanzania if it's a continental style as you stated 😂? Why doesn't go ahead and show us the TZ Afrobeat? What's the obsession with stealing Naija music?
@Nat-wu4kj
@Nat-wu4kj Год назад
@@mrshilling Sauti sol from Kenya are very famous for having numerous "Afrobeat" style tracks especially from 2013 to around 2019. However, they were never guilty of copying Naija style, all they did was showcase original Kenyan indigenous culture like in the "Sura yako" heat, a famous Afrobeat track
@mrshilling

While the other guy is from Congo DR an 80k plus had an over flow to 120k meaning pipo sat on the tracks in the stadium. I repeat no Nigerian artist has ever fill a stadium alone. They always have other artist on the roaster thus making the naija artist a headliner of the show. I know you won't understand but let me tell you it's not easy to sing an entire album for 16 hours. That's what Beyonce, Eminem etc and Casper Nyovest from south Africa has done 6X good time. And he is the only African in this generation to fill a stadium. All what burna boy, davido, wizkid did in London is called headliners. Because I saw other artist performed in that same show.

@Mr.JOE5784
@Mr.JOE5784 Год назад
Diamond is a talented artiste, no one can deny that. He's just inspired by those songs and probably decided to lift some ideas to make something unique of his own. Who knows, he might have already contacted the artistes' or labels to which these artistes are signed to before acfually recording/releasing those songs. Africa (Nigeria), let's halt the hate and support one another. If the owners of these songs never complained, why would people make it as if their lives depended on it? We all know Nigeria has the biggest music industry in Africa, at the continental level, no doubt. Africa's musical experience outisde its periphery, has been monopolized by Nigerian artistes and labels for at least, a decade plus; to date. Why is that? Because other Africans support your artistes enormously. Please, appreciate our support too. Nigerians alone couldn't have sold out Afrobeats to the level it is today. It was a continental (mainland Africa's) effort. ❤

I appreciate your kind words, you see a lot of older Nigerian artists paid the price for the success of afrobeats today, most of them are still impoverished but they laid the foundation. Check out the old videos of diamond when he was singing in the style of Eastern African music style but immediately afrobeats blew he fraudulently rode on it because what he did is not sampling but daylight robbery. Afrobeats was born out of the zeal of Nigerians to listen to pop, hip-hop music in naija style and it took time for it to be acceptable in Nigeria first, after Nigerians accepted it in Nigeria the music then naturally traveled to where Nigerians are overseas, mainly UK and the USA. With the help of artists like Chris Brown and Kanye west who supported artists like dbanj and Mohits crew. The journey to the success of afrobeats is a long painful journey with some good naija artists falling by the way, so it's immoral to copy outrightly. The name afrobeats was used in London then to categorize all the music from naija and the name stuck. Just like reggae from Jamaica I see no problem with other people using the style but don't boldly plagiarize.

No, you're not Nigerian. Nigerians can hop on a genre like Amapiano or hip hop. They don't steal people's song. Anybody can do afrobeats; it's a genre. But when you steal someone's song (not sampling) and just changing the lyrics, that's where the problem is.
@Franklin8701
@Franklin8701 Год назад
@@nma_25 you have no idea, do you? I won't come here arguing with you much, but let me give you an example, you most have heard the song "Am Calling" by Sky B, do you know it's a big time wack copied song? How about "Ebutte metta" (Banky W, copied from Rihanna umbrella song), Baby konga? How about Psquare "last nite" having a marvin gaye beat sampled (sexual healing), a beat they later used in their temptation album for the song "story". The track "temptation" was also sampled from the UK singer Nathan. "Bizzy body" and "do me" were from kevin little's "turn me on". Also, their dance steps are usher and MJ prototype. Remedies- mi o sako mo copied Michael Jackson's liberian girl beat. Wizkid's holla at "Yo Boi" track was lifted off the original track done by asian artist "SEVEN". "I Like Dem Girls..." Wizkid also stole some of the lyrics. If you have followed Nigerian Music Industry from the beginning and know much about good music, you won't come here to argue with me on this, Nigerian artist and even nollywood are good crafty copiers, they copy and transform it into their own songs here and it becomes a hint.

Give me one hit Nigerian song that was sampled by Nigeria from Ghana in the last ten years. Do not list a song by an underground or upcoming artiste. I mean mainstream Nigerian jam that was stolen from Ghana. You guys copy our style of Afrobeats( you accuse your own Afrobeats musician of ‘sounding Nigerian) and we don’t even care, but for you to turn around and accuse us of what you’re doing to us, is distasteful.

@@crytogh8183 For the sake of argument, let’s assume you are correct. It doesn’t prove anything. They are hundreds of Nigerian Afrobeats songs. I literally have a 14-hour long playlist of naija HIT SONGS and NONE OF THE ABOVE SONGS make it to my playlist. Imagine listing Tonto Dike and mama G as Nigerian musicians( you are literally latching at straws). Listing a handful of unknown, isolated songs from the hundreds of music from the Nigerian Afrobeats catalog does not prove anything l. Try as you might, the Ghanian influence on Nigerian music is an illusion in the minds of Ghanaians. At best, it’s a projection of what you’re currently doing-you’re busy trying to sound like Nigerians( Camidoh, Kelvin, Olive, King Promise etc ). The Nigerian Afrobeats has enough influence from the sounds from our more than 500 indigenous ethnic groups. Our artistic space is not empty. Don’t take credit for what you have contributed little to. Work hard and quit playing the Hyena

Stop hating on this guy. Nigeria musicians have sampled beats rhythms and lyrics from musicians in other parts of Africa and all over the world. PSquare enjoyed this as well as most musicians of their generation. Iyanya, Flavour and many more. The most popular beat in Nigeria music today is amapiano originated from South Africa. Diamond Platnumz is very dynamic and is unarguably one of the best in Africa. This guy even had a song with Papa Wemba so don’t think he is a small artiste.
