Beninese Guy here lol, I understand that to westerners Dahomey may seem funny due to American pop culture, but I'd like to clarify that the name Dahomey is French people's interpretation of the name Ɖanxomɛn (Fongbe) which means "In the stomach of the snake" and as you can imagine is pronounced much differently than "Dahomey" Hope that helps

The reason Benin City is in Nigeria is because Yorubaland which is home of the Yoruba people had Benin Kingdom included in its various Kingdoms. But European colonialism separated that part of Yoruba land that makes us Benin from the rest of Yoruba land in South West Nigeria.
