I had a TS/SCI clearance. Doesn't mean I could just download whatever I wanted from the pentagon. Stuff is compartmentalized and you only get access to what you 'need to know'. A low ranking reservist from Massachusetts wouldn't need access to pentagon war documents.
He's an IT. Therefore, age or rank is irrelevant. They typically have clearances all the way up to TS/SCI due to their routine handling of crypto material. ITs typically have access to lots of classified information due to the nature of their job in the military.
Clueless news. Security clearance is not based on rank, age or time in service. It is based on Job and need to know. There are people fresh out of high school in the military given TS/SCI clearance.
He is IT. I can think of another IT person that was able to get access to classified documents. Edward Snowden. Also this is a basic comparison, I am not comparing motives or honor, and think Snowden did the right thing.
@@tatianalyulkin410 Snowden showed what the NSA is doing to all Americans, collecting widespread data on a massive level. I am not sure of the scope of what this new guy did, assuming he is the person responsible for the leak. If it was real and just for personal glory, I am not impressed so far.

I worked as a comm center operator in the USMC in the 80's. You needed a minimum of a secret clearance to work in that MOS. At one point, I had to be upgraded to a top secret clearance. I was surprised at how far the DOD went to check me out including childhood neighbors (in which my parents wondered if I was in trouble after the neighbors told them). I was only 20. The thing is you can't just access any classified material anytime anywhere. You have to have a "need to know".

There are kids his age that are NCOs in the military. Kids his age are the ones doing maintenance on nuclear weapons, how do you expect that to happen without kids his age having technical knowledge of the weapons that require Top Secret Clearances? Kids his age work in Intel, requiring access to all kids of classified information.

he didnt impress other gamers the news got it half right, he shared on a communicating platform that SOME gamers use, but a lot of normal people use it too, they meant he leaked it on a website that gamers primary use but he probably sent it to his friends or some shit

Many jobs in the military require high level clearances for even low ranking enlisted. I was 19 and had a Top Secret Crypto SSIR clearance, my job was to repair teletype coding systems, and had potential contact with very sensitive documents. I served in the USAF 1969-1973, and knew that we had people working with us, that were undercover to watch our actions. All of us had through background investigations by the FBI and the military security services. Everyone that I worked with was proud of what we did and the trust placed in us.
Back then it makes more sense, but being able to share info with millions with the press of a button means it’s Probably time to make some changes. It’s possible someone made a mistake and left their pwd/laptop available which happens but no matter how what it sounds like bad policy/procedures

Not the issue of having a security clearance so much as it is how a National guardsman not on active duty in an assignment to where one would have to work with it and work within the safeguards would have access to the intel.

Who do u think brings the officers their top secret docs GRUNTS young & dumb. That's why this lamo Snowdon etc get access. For every general getting a top secret doc a doz all too often lowest rank possible had to work to make it happen. You fix problem w humiliating arrests. & Plots
