How did the ColdWar happen? Well, basically...by means of distrust, that is how. We initially found that the two countries were allies during WWII. However, after the war the US Marshall Plan came about offering loans to European countries that were ravaged during WWII. These offers, though, had stipulations attached to them, that being that the countries align themselves to the US economically. NOW, during this period of heavy handouts the Soviets, who had suffered dearly during the war against Germany, found that they had an almost insurmountable task ahead of them to rebuild their country. They believed that the US would also come to them with some form of support. This didn't materialize though, and herein lies the paranoia and distrust towards the West on the Soviets part. After all, Russia and now the Soviet Union had been invaded by a western adversary, in three major instances, in less than just over a century. Now let us add that the west had turned their backs on helping the Soviets as they had been doing to all of western europe. Moving forward we find that NATO is formed in the West, throwing paranoia throughout the Soviet Union, given that the US is central to NATO and the US has the atomic bomb. Soon after NATO's formation, we find the Warsaw Pact is formed. Herein lies the seeds that are the origins of How the Cold War Happened. Moving on in the Cold War timeline to 1961 and the Berlin Wall, it was the west's doing that this Wall finally countered the rampant flow of "knowledge" and regular people alike from the GDR. The Great Lie, here, is that the GDR border personnel really believed that they were building the wall to defend them from the west. (I guess this is correct to some degree.) The video refers to the Cuban Missile Crisis. This too was a counter by the Soviets towards US (NATO) Missiles deployed to eastern Turkey during the 1950s. Vietnam was a colossal mess as this (in my opinion) was more of a military-industrial experiment than anything else. Sadly at the expense of so many innocent boys' lives. When US commanders are forced to adopt a strategy dictated down to them that only creates losses...there's something wrong then. Arrogance along with a lack of hubris did them in, here. But...as to How the Cold War Happened...it was a mix of distrust and paranoia, in my humble opinion. Many things referred to in the video are only told from one perspective vice the whole story, and that goes along with most of what we know of the Cold War (only one side of the story).

There is a small mistake 2.04 the part where the image of the eastern bloc and the western bloc is Finland as I read about is considered a neutral country due to a friendship treaty it signed with the Soviet Union such that Finland won’t get annexed by the Soviet Union and in return will not allow any country to invade the Soviet Union through Finland A small error but it doesn’t really affect the overall video

Wouldn't enemies always be in a cold war with you? Trying to gain the advantage? For it to be over they'd have to not be opposed to you anymore. But you can't know that. Any nation would always be focused on their biggest threat. Even us.
