I was fully intending to but have not managed to get to it. Was it good? I heard that there was some fantastic work by other artists, contemporaries of Blake, as well as by wonderful Blake. Thank you for watching!

@@artgalleryexplorer For the work alone, it was worth seeing! I saw Jonathan Jones’ review beforehand and was expecting the worst, however his pitting of the artists against one another was a complete mishap. Blake’s work was incredibly intense and more than held its own in the company of Caspar David Friedrich and Philipp Otto Runge’s work. It often felt like I couldn’t look at Blake’s work for too long because of the sheer will behind it. It was almost dizzying it was that strong. Similarly to your review on the expressionist exhibition at Tate Modern (which I completely agree with), the curation of the show did get in the way. I think placing or pinning Blake down to any one wider context is a disservice to his own unique vision, which I feel they didn’t fully embrace!
