How did the Opium Wars Actually Happen? - All Parts
In this informative and engaging video, explore the history of the Opium Wars and their impact on modern China. From the early 19th century to the mid-1800s, these wars were fought between China and Great Britain over the issue of the opium trade. The British, seeking to expand their opium market in China, clashed with the Chinese government's efforts to crack down on the drug's importation. The wars had a significant impact on China's economy, politics, and society, and set the stage for the country's struggles with Western imperialism and the eventual rise of communism.
This video offers an in-depth look at the Opium Wars, their causes and consequences, and their relevance to modern-day issues. Whether you're a history buff, a student, or simply curious about this fascinating topic, this video is a must-watch. So, sit back, relax, and get ready to learn about one of the most important events in modern Chinese history!

The First Opium War, the Second Opium War, the Eight-Nation Alliance invaded China, set Yuanmingyuan on fire, and the Japanese war of aggression against China...... The modern history of China is the history of Chinese people's blood and tears. During our middle school years, studying modern Chinese history was the most painful. China's century of humiliation has deeply engraved the concept of "falling behind means being beaten" in the hearts of every Chinese person. Therefore, the Chinese people strive to catch up, in order to prevent people from being oppressed and bullied by others.

@@Rowlph8888 The Qing Dynasty was ruled by the Manchus, but after the Manchus controlled the Central Plains, they declared themselves to be the orthodox faction of China. The Qing government continued to use the traditional Confucian culture of the Han Chinese in terms of writing, administrative management, and culture, which can be said to have completely sinicized the Manchus. The Qing Dynasty also regarded itself as China to the outside world. Chinese culture has always been a culture that embraces all rivers and is inclusive. The ethnic groups around the Han ethnic group have basically been sinicized. You can see that there are 56 ethnic groups in China today, with the Han ethnic group being the main ethnic group, and most of the 55 ethnic minorities have already been sinicized. This is the true charm of Chinese culture, which encompasses everything. Foreigners find it difficult to understand this point, unless they learn Chinese and conduct in-depth research, otherwise it is difficult to understand the spirit of Chinese culture.

The silver coins mentioned around 1:22 were known by the british as pieces of 8 after their native spanish name "Real de a 8" or Spanish dollar, which was the first international currency, being minted since 1497 it was the coin upon which the original United States dollar was based, and it remained legal tender in the USA until the Coinage Act of 1857. Some experts argue that the "$" symbol is a simpified version of the columns and stripe that appear on one side of the Spanish dollar and are present to this day on the Spanish coat of arms, as well as the Spanish flag. The columns represent the pillars of Hercules and the ribbon that goes through them reads "Plus Ultra" latin for beyond, in reference to the existence of landmasses beyond the old world (i.e. The New World, currently known as The Americas). Many other currencies around the world were initially based on the Spanish dollar and other 8-real coins as well, like the chinese yuan, the japanese yen and the variety of pesos throughout Hispanic America.

6 months late, really the wars were because the first "stock market crash" happened, or at least something very similar in effect, western powers where terrified and so they began trying to make colonies profitable, which failed but resulted in a surplus of opium, so they came to the conclusion that if they basically had a country that had to listen to their demands that they didn't have to put any money into besides a beginning investment in an idea of forced trade that was basically just a massive profit. It was highly effective and treated the stock market crashed effects, the demands of the qing empire was reasonable but the allies who were all suffering from the crash basically wanted any excuse to fuck over china for the silver they invested. The vast majority of Western Europeans are ashamed of this kind of activity, how could you not be when you see the results of addiction and the misery of death.But the Chinese here, don't seem to see how the Chinese government themselves were quite happy for trade to begin and continue, until the value of trade turned in the Brits favour, then they cut the trading relationship off entirely, showing not only that they didn't give a crap about the Chinese people in the 1st place, but that they cared even less about the Chinese people, when not taking any responsibility for their part in the Chinese People's misery in the 1st place, but also doing a stupid manoeuvre in a trading relationship with the country with 10 times the technological capability in everything, including warfare. Ultimately, the Chinese government has responsibility for the welfare of the Chinese people, the Brits and the French do not.In cutting off trading relationship in the way they did, it was obvious there would be repercussions, and there would be today, from every nation in such a position.The Chinese government, new repercussions would be exercised on the Chinese people and not themselves or their friends, who are protected in high places

Having been the first country to industrialise, Britain had a technological advantage over the rest of the world. The more the rest of the world industrialised as well, the harder it became for Britain to retain its role of global hegemon. Britain has yet to come to grips with its much reduced importance, and with the blunder its political leaders have created since the dissolution of the empire.
@Rowlph8888
@Rowlph8888 Год назад
It's got more to do with the mismanagement of relations with the growing nation of Germany in the lead up to the world wars, then the effect of those wars, than others catching up industrially. By the start of World War I USA was already producing more industrial output than Britain, but Britain was always going to be able to stay far ahead in money gained from trade, military power and because USA was heavily in debt to them. Independent studies show that it's likely that without the 2 world wars, Britain would still be militarily the most powerful country in the world, right now, but not by much and the USA would have been gradually making inroads over the century and the ascendance of the USA would eventually be inevitable. In our timeline, the US benefited from Staying out of the wars and being the only country that was actually growing stronger economically, whilst everyone else was dramatically getting weaker. Before the First World War United States was massively indebted to the Brits, for borrowing in order to develop its economy througghout the previous century. The wars massively Swapped the imbalance in the opposite direction. *Added to this was the US having the safety and time to develop the atomic bomb, which then became a massive threat and a deterrent, so the takeover was immediate. *The British Empire had tied up most trade routes in Britain's favour and gave Britain' Strategic advantage all over the globe in terms of reconnaissance, storing of military gear and presence in tactically beneficial areas, if attacked. These facets lways dramatically improve their circumstances compared to any nation, even with a vastly more numerous army or navy, which the US was obviously going to develop over the course of the mos20th century, if the world wars did not happen and the changes in our timeline didn't happen

Thanks for Your map because the region next to Qing usually shown by Qing property, but in reality it was not till a certain time. It is just how they want to show like Iran version of Central Asian history while some crucial details were incorrect, because the Central Asian historians are not active. That is way better to learn from several resources like Prussian, British, French..... of course depends on the region. If the British colonized the place it's better to read the Prussian(German) version, colonized place or the French versions depends. As I am saying and compare to come to real version of it comparatively. It is way that I do.

I feel most information of China is base off only base of western view, specifically justifying their “superiority”. Just in case anyone don’t know, the last dynasty of China is an foreigner power that take over China sometime ago….so, it is just exchange one group over another.

this war started the Century of Humiliation for China, that is what they are taught.. It is not the war they have a problem with, but the unfair trade treaties and occupation of lands that they feel caused the humiliation.
