One possibility is that the bondsmith in question died. We know from Yim that a spren doesn't become a deadeye when the radiant dies. The interesting question about mishram is, why dose Nalan think radiant bonds could free her.
hmm, that would make Melishi a more sympathetic radiant. As for why Nalan fears radiant bonds freeing her or freeing Odium, I suspect that we'll find out in book 5. since they seem to be planning to do just that.
@@MeMySkirtandI Are we sure who the bondsmith present was bonded to? Maybe he saw what breaking the oath did to the spren and chose to spare his spren by self...
@@MeMySkirtandI My suspicion is the he was killed. he knew where mishrams prison is. nalan would want to keep that secret. we know he was there, we know what he is.
…8 species of spren AND a whole race of people mindless - please don’t forget that the capture of Ba-Ado-Mishram also allowed the enslaving of an entire race of people.
True that! I did slip in a “swiping the Singers sapience” around the mid point. But further conversation was left on the cutting room floor. The singers will get more time soon!
Yeah, how the Sibling survived the Recreance is indeed one of the big mysteries of the entire Stormlight Archive which interests me (not to mention its creation and how that was even possible). I'm looking forward to the revelation of the truth around this question, hopefully in a future book.
According to Navani in book 1, and we've learned just how much they didn't know in book 1. Or perhaps the 10 orders met at the equivalent of Roshar's abandoned lot to do the deed.
I thought that it was hinted that Honor "made" the shattered plains, like he made the other cities of Roshar. Only this time the shattered planes was due to the inverse stormlight that killed Honor's vessel.
I should preface this with “ I am a pedant and there is no reason you should care about what I am about to say.” That said,I am afraid that I must object to her pronunciation of “ecce homo” at 9:10. While some may argue that, as this is from the Bible, the biblical pronunciation is more relevant, Pontius Pilatus would have neither have softened the c nor dropped the h, as he was an actual Roman. While perhaps some Plebians and foreigners may have skewed the pronunciation, Pontius Pilatus was from the aristocratic class, and he would not fall victim to such accents. As an actual historical figure, the pronunciation of his words should not be skewed from the classical pronunciation. If you read this far, thank you for caring about my pedantry. This is not really a criticism of her, but more a small addendum which I could not resist adding.
I read the whole thing. My church friends read the whole thing. And they agree with you. I gave the spark notes to my priest and he agreed with you. I did pronounce it as anglicized church Latin and not as the historically correct version. (Your comment just caught me where I could ask all these people in short order.)
If it does, I couldn't find it. What seems to be established 1. Melishi was the Sibling's last bondsmith 2. Melishi was the bondsmith when the tower was abandoned. 3. Melishi proposed the idea to capture Ba-Ado-Mishram. So I just ran with that.
It's said somewhere that the Sibling ended their bond before the Recreance. Because, after the capture of BAM, the tower began to malfunction, the Sibling couldn't produce their Light anymore. So the Radiants decided to leave the tower. The Recreance and the breaking of oaths by mankind and spren happened some time AFTER the capture of BAM, maybe weeks, months or even years later. I'm more of the opinion that Melishi found a "friendly" way to end the bond or he... sacrificed himself.
