After 66 million years, one of the evolved mammals came along and devoted his time to sharing knowledge with whom ever chose to see it. He dedicated his efforts to exposing the secrets of the earth, the mysteries of the universe, then the saga of his own kind. He is truely a hero, saving others from the darkness of ignorance.

Who will save our 'hero' from deep time story myths? There is more evidence pointing to a young earth that experienced a worldwide flood than there is for common ancestry fables. Biological life is specifically designed and created, not a product of random chance and hypothetical coincidences

Yeah , telling stories and educating aren't mutually exclusive . But , I know where you're coming from , and agree . This format , as fascinating story with exquisite visual aides , make for a much more interesting, and therefore retainable , method of learning than would be reading off the printed page of a non-illustrated book ( which are great if that's what you have to work with , but not THIS great !) .

Good video, but a few corrections from a pedantic Palaeontology graduate. 8:35 Diplodocus had been extinct for nearly 100 million years before Tyrannosaurus or Purgatorius evolved. 10:11 Camarasaurus lived at the same time as Diplodocus, so see previous answer. 10:53 Whilst Dromaeosaurs did have the raised killing second claw we all remember from Jurassic Park, they weren’t retractable like a modern cats’. 11:13 Small mammals were definitely on the menu for pterosaurs, but all those known from the latest Cretaceous were toothless.

I'm digging the PBS approach you're taking to RU-vid (they have an astrophysics YT, a geology YT and a couple others). So long as the research and production value is consistently high (it seems to be) I'm very happy to see this new channel. Always remember to cite sources and be wary not to push any single narrative where there are debates in science just for the sake of having a clean video: I'd rather there be discussion on debates within the academic world than simply be entertained by being shown only one line of thought)

The intro made me think about, what if the asteroid missed? Where would our precious earth be today?
@TheDarkSide11891
@TheDarkSide11891 8 месяцев назад
It likely wouldn't have been too long until at the very least the majority of the dinosaurs went extinct anyway. As we know now, while the asteroid impact had a large influence on catalysing the climate change that ultimately killed the dinosaurs, there was still a vast amount of changes occurring on earth already due to volcanic activity and other natural phenomena. It would still likely be quite a different earth today but one way or another the era of the dinosaurs was coming to an end around that time.
@robokill387

@TheDarkSide11891 actually that's not self evident at all. Although they were in decline at the time, they probably wouldn't have gone so completely extinct without the asteroid.

It focuses on each of the mass extinction events as experienced by the animal that would eventually evolve to give rise to Homo sapiens, whatever we were at the time of each event, from the Ordovician to the end Cretaceous. We see how this creature slips through each mass extinction event and continues to evolve and repeat the process until we arrive at today, and ask, Are we going to make it through again? Saying that the asteroid was 10 km in diameter and the animal was eight feet is weird and inconsistent.

For me this formula is already perfect as-is as I always play these videos when going to sleep because the narration is easy to listen to without having to strongly focus. There's plenty of dry scientific sources available already, there's also services like Curiosity Stream and Magellan where you can very likely find the type of content you described and here on RU-vid too, if you just look for it. At least I'm fairly sure I've seen these kind of videos focused on evidence and timeline of events before. I hope I didn't come across as denying the validity of your opinion, it just felt appropriate to share mine as an answer to yours more than as a separate comment.

Thank you for this episode, I love watching your videos and they really make the mind wonder and enhances imagination, how everything came to be. I really wish I had a time machine to get me back in time and witness all that in awe. Cosmology and evolution are magic to me and I so much wish to understand more. Will keep watching your videos!
