Hello, Free Wifi can be very dangerous. Now, what is different between the Greek and the rest ones, we're talking *huge* difference, is that in Greece LIDL has Greek vegetables, fruits and, cheeses and many other goods. You simply cant compare vegetables and fruits with anything from the UK and I see in this particular LIDL they have them from Crete, which, you know... EDIT: we actually do have pistacchio ice cream, we just call it "fystiki" and it is made with a local product known as fystiki Aeginas which is a PDO product. It is possible that it is better than pistacchio too. Search for it.

Agree with your comment about free WiFi. I always use my mobile data when out. Find it annoying when big supermarkets in UK have poor mobile reception, so have to use their WiFi to access their coupons on my mobile. Always ensure you have good antivirus on your phone - something that most people might have on computer but don't think about for phone.

Great video guys! All your stuff so far is very interesting & entertaining, always filmed with a level of spontaneity and charm. It's always exciting for a native like me seeing Greece through the eyes of people from other countries/cultures/backgrounds. Even a very ordinary thing, like a visit to the supermarket, can become an adventure of discovery when you move to a new place. In the island I live in, Lefkada, Lidl is my supermarket of choice on account of prices, quality & variety of products. We have almost all of the major Greek grocery chains (AB, Sklavenitis, My Market, Market In) and after trying and testing all of them I can safely say it's by far the cheapest overall and with a high degree of quality. The only chain that has a greater variety of products is AB but it's by far the most expensive. What I especially like on Lidl is the design of their stores, right down to the price tags. It seems far more professional than any other chain. I also like the fact that they sell stuff beyond food and house supplies (like tools, seeds, gardening equipment etc.) Most of their private label brands are on par with the stuff that's constantly advertised (and is far more expensive). Most people don't realise that it's the same factories/product facilities that produce these goods and the difference is just the label. I usually buy fruits & vegetables (frozen and fresh), milk, cheese (except feta of course - you have to get the local, unpacked stuff) yoghurt, spices, canned mushrooms & fruits, pasta, legumes and nuts. Also all my cleaning products & bathroom supplies. Never had an issue with the quality of the products. If I can't find a specific fruit or meat I can always go to the farmer's market or at a local butcher/fisherman. I also find it very interesting that every week they have a "themed" section with products from other countries. I often try some of these products just for fun. The only problem is that some of those products are really great and you have to wait for a long time till they bring them back (on another "themed" week). They also have limited edition products that are available for a short time or on specific seasons. That is the case with your pistacchio spread Amalia. I 've tried it also, along with a chestnut one, and they were absolutely amazing. Haven't seen them though for quite a long time now. As for recommendations I have to say my latest obsessions from Lidl are the "Alesto" Cashew-Peanut Mix with Honey & Salt and the "Pork & Chicken Gyoza" with Gyoza Sauce that I discovered on an Asian themed week and I'm afraid it won't be available again soon enough. It would be nice to meet you guys in person but Crete is very far from my island. Sorry for this very long message, keep up the great work!

Let me give you some info regarding the own brands of Lidl Greece : Feta Cheese is from Ntampizas , Freeway sodas are from Green Cola , and Vikos , Mitsikeli water is from Vikos , Yoghurts Γαλπο are made from Kri Kri , Fresh Milks from Evrofarma , Long Dated Milks from Mevgal , Eatme chocolates are made from Tottis , some Cleaning Products made from Endless , Frozen pies are made from Arampatzis and many more Greek companies. Therefore many Own Brands from Lidl are from Big Greek Brands which are written on the packaging.Lidl in Greece has the biggest percentage of Greek products than any other Greek Supermarkerts in around 70-75% and due that fact prices on own brands even though come from big brands are a lot lower.

LIDL in Greece, sells many products from the local area (don't know if it's the same for other European countries). In the LIDL market in my area (northern Greece), they sell many very local diary & meat products that you can't find in other LIDL markets in Greece. By the way, i have seen many commenter saying that meat, dairy products etc. are bad and shouldn't be bought... I would say It depends. It not black & white. As long as they have the mentions the country origin on products (usually from EU countries), you are fine. I definitely prefer buying fresh meat from a local butchery or from Greek Supermarkets with integrated butchery (or fresh Fish from the fish market). But if i can't find what i want from those shops, i just get it from LIDL. When there is a Greek flag on the product, it's produced in Greece (obviously). Some other in the comment section said that ΓΑΛΠΟ is a "bad" product LOL... That's nonsense. ΓΑΛΠΟ (GALPO) is just a sub brand from ΚΟΛΙΟΣ (KOLIOS), made just for LIDL Greece. KOLIOS is one of the oldest & biggest FETA, cheese and diary manufacturers in Greece. A good quality brand that exports its products to the whole world. They get their milk from certified Dairy farms (goat, sheep, cow) in my area here Macedonia (not the fake slavic imposter country) and Thrace. Their production facilities are near Thessaloniki. GALPO as far as i know, is only sold in Greek & Cyprian LIDL markets. You can taste the difference between Kolios FETA and Galpo FETA. The original brand Kolios, ripes longer in barrels than Galpo. But makes it also more expensive... The quality of the ingredients are the same. There is another brand called "Milbona". It's a very known LIDL brand. This LIDL brand has producers/dairy farms from all over Europe (UK, Germany, Romania, Netherlands, France, Greece, Italy etc.). Kolios is also part of it. And produces many products with this brand name for LIDL. Those products are sold in Greece and all over Europe.

Great video! In Athens (city centre) Lidl stores are much smaller (due to restricted space) with narrow corridors and less variety. I personally buy Feta from Lidl as it's more affordable. I woud recommend the Noma Feta which is tasty. Also as you reside in Crete, I would suggest the Noma paximadia (rusks) for Ntakos. The nut collection is great and you can find packages that you cannot find in other Greek supermarkets. Forest frozen fruit package is also great and I can only find it in Lidl (it might be available in other countries as well). Fresh fruit and vegetables are not very cheap but certainly cheaper than other supermarkets. I noticed high difference in price in strawberies, cherries and blueberries in comparison to the other Greek markets.

More comments... In US or UK one eats because of need, here is more because of pleasure. Still. And this is why you won't find so many ready-made meals - we want to cook, to enjoy our food and, when possible, share it (and the pleasure) with others. I guess you have already noticed this last one, if you are in Crete. Also, chicken costs about 3 euros/kg. Buying separately the pieces will cost you three times as much. It has to have the yellow/white spot meaning that watermelon was lying on the field long enough. the most important for me is to knock on it and (hard to describe in words) but you have to get the vibe and the sound when you knock it that is full of water. Feta is THE greek cheese (PDO) and every county will argue that theirs is the best. Avoid stereotypes like "X shop has the best or the worst" and just pick a few, try and stay with the one you prefer. Any shop may sell any quality at any given moment (except maybe of specialised stores). Soft, medium or hard, with or without herbs or spices, it is still feta. There are a few that I personally prefer (from areas like Vytina or Kalavryta) but that's a matter of taste, if not a matter of word of mouth. The best way is to start with the normal, hard, common feta (trying from a few production areas) and then... experiment. Trial and error has always been a good way.

Thank you so much for watching and for the tips!💙🙏 There are so many types of cheese here, and they are all great in different ways. It's a pleasure to experiment.

@@Sunpire italy and greece import theyre beef from africa mainly for supermarkets and cheap resto's , this isnt the problem , the problem with supermarkets is that the meat is not fresh and definatelly not preserved corectly , they get tons of frozen meats , defrost them in night shifts and send them as fresh the next morning , the first day theres not a big problem but after that the meat is treated as fresh by the workers in the shops and all kinds of germs start growing many ready made traditional dishes are made in china and shiped to greece for less than 60cents per dish ... these are the ones you should be avoiding for real

Lidl is the only supermarket I would never buy meat from. Sklavenitis, Vasilopoulos, Kritikos have way better quality red and white meat selections, plus they are not prepackaged; you can actually pick the piece you want at the butcher's section. Moreover, I would never buy dairy from Lidl. Good brand milk is always more expensive than in domestic supermarket chains (e.g. Sklavenitis), feta cheese is prepackaged in Lidl, while in domestic supermarket chains, at the cheese section, you can buy good brand feta (e.g. Dodoni, Epiros, Kalavriton) for less money. P.S. Stay away from whichever product reads ΓΑΛΠΟ. Many years ago I made the mistake of buying ΓΑΛΠΟ yogurt, due to its low price, and it tasted like lime (not the fruit, the other thing they use in construction); never again!!
