Dr. Roche, Thank you for facilitating this fundraising effort and for all the other good works you do, as well as all those you are yet to perform in the practice of psychiatry. I donated in honor of Dr. Max Baker, the psychiatrist who reassured my mother in 1976, when I was fourteen that I was indeed a homosexual and that there was nothing wrong with my brain or with the way she raised me. He convinced both of us i would live a happy productive life and his prognosis was correct. The difference he made in my life cannot be measured or quantified. He was way ahead of his Southern peers in 1976 and continued to champion progressive mental health care in our small Arkansas town until his full retirement in 2022. He trained scores of residents and clinicians, founded an inpatient clinic for people in crisis, spearheaded the restoration of our community theatre along with his wife, and generally set the curve in terms of giving back to one’s community. I had the good fortune to be in his care at the most vulnerable time in my life and his unbiased perspective and empathetic nature is exactly what I needed. You remind me of that young doctor who put his hand on my shoulder and said there is nothing mentally or morally wrong with you. ☮️❤️🏳️🌈
Didn’t go through the back and forth of the conflict - just straight to what WE can actually do to help people on the ground! This is why we’re here. You’re awesome. You’re not just a resident or a psychiatrist, you’re really a decent human and that’s what makes a good doctor. Gonna join the aide efforts!
I have been watching every single one of your videos for the past 3 months. I started when my daughter had to be rushed into the ER/ICU due to septic shock. Unfortunately we are still here but your videos have entertained me and also helped me understand the medical world that is taking place in front of me. As someone who has been following the g-cide that’s taking place in Gaza I would be honored to donate to this beautiful family
So…maybe Hamas should stop using women and children as human shields. The UN has already determined that there is no genocide-Google it. Is Hamas justified in raping and killing female Israeli hostages? That is exactly what they are doing right now. They just killed another hostage a couple of days ago. But they’re such victims and nice people right? They don’t play by the rules and have consistently violated Israeli human rights and committed war crimes. They killed thousands of Israeli’s and have been doing it for decades because as a Hamas leader admitted- they want the Israeli’s out of the Middle East. The Israeli homes are built to withstand blasts because Palestinians have been bombing them for decades-it is that common. Men and women have to serve in the Israeli army when they come of age because they live under constant siege. I think it’s time for the Palestinians to get some better leadership. Most Palestinians want peace with Israelis, but enough believe the propaganda and will keep on agitating and killing for probably decades to come. They just slaughtered thousands of Israeli’s and you think they should turn the other cheek, right?
Thank you Preston. I followed you because I aspire to be a psychiatrist and thought your shorts are highly relatable. But you have proved that you also have have a very kind heart.
Appreciate you so much for this video. Important to understand just a fragment of what people caught in this war are experiencing, and the sort of difference even a bit of charity could make.
Because I can't edit on my phone and I'm afraid it'll get lost if I just reply to my previous message, it's really encouraging to me that people are so generous to people they've never met. We're not taking our money with us when we die but we are so much better off in the first world than so many others across the globe right now and those who can donate (that's a very important distinction) actually donating is such a picture of how lovely people can be. Thank you for this video caring for people ❤️
I cannot express how grateful I am , as a Jordanian from a Palestinian mother , as a human , Thank you . The amount of respect I hold for you ... The amount of respect in you trying to get the name gazza right . ❤❤❤
“Many of us like to ask ourselves, what would I do if I was alive while… my country is committing a gen0c1de? The answer is you’re doing it. Right now.” -Aaron Bushnell
i really dont care about politics and i will still continue to watch your content, and i dont support either side per say but I would be down to donate to both sides efforts in helping people get aid whether they are from Israel or Gaza
”Than october the 7th happens” yeah a totally normal day the sun is shining birds are singing and Israel for no reason just aimlessly starts throwing bombs on women and children just because it feels like it. If you want to tell a story at least stick to the whole truth not just the parts that agree with your narrative. Alot of parents in Israel also lost their children that day and definitely not because it was israeli soldiers hiding in their homes attacking palestinian civilians.
I tried my best to use passive language on both sides, I also said “the car was hit by a bomb” rather than highlighting forces doing it. The purpose of the video was to focus on the experience of the individual rather than make a commentary on the war
@@Ghhhswwe So lets say Israel just gets out of the west bank dismantles everything and gives the palestinians there full autonomy to do what they want. Wanna guess what happens the next day? That’s right! October the 7th times 10! Because at its narrowest there are only 9 kilometers separating the West Bank and the Mediterranean sea! It goes “From the river to the sea Palestine will be free” isn’t it? There you got it! If you take a moment to read Israel’s declaration of independence you would the following paragraph: “WE EXTEND our hand to all neighboring states and their peoples in an offer of peace and good neighborliness, and appeal to them to establish bonds of cooperation and mutual help with the sovereign Jewish people settled in its own land. The State of Israel is prepared to do its share in a common effort for the advancement of the entire Middle East.” I wonder how that turned out? Oh yeah, Israel gets attacked the next day by almost all of its neighbors and the war of independence erupts! :)) I would assume Israel would gladly just give away all these territories because they have caused it mostly trouble. Just like it gave away Sinai Peninsula which was literally LOADED with oil back to Egypt for a peace agreement the egyptians for the most part disregard. But just like every other country the security of its own citizens comes first.
