Military analyst: "Israel's attack of Rafah violates all laws" | LBC

At least 35 people have been killed and dozens more are injured in Israeli airstrikes on Rafah. The rockets were launched into the southern Gaza city after Hamas launched rockets towards Tel Aviv for the first time in months.
The Israeli airstrike reportedly hit a refugee camp for displaced people, per reports from Palestinian medics.
Israel insists it hit a "Hamas compound" in Rafah, taking out two senior leaders. It added that it would investigate reports that civilians had been killed.
Shelagh Fogarty is joined by defence and security expert Professor Michael Clarke to understand more.

I mean pretty much the whole world has repeatedly voted at the UN for resolutions to put an immediate stop to the fighting, but the US has used its veto power every single time. America has single-handedly just overridden the votes of 95% of the world - effectively declaring that the collective will of all humanity is irrelevant & meaningless, and that a tiny cabal of people occupying positions of power in two countries gets to dictate to the entire world whether they have any say in anything at all.

The people of Gaza also have the right to revolt against their own oppression. The defense guy should know that. He should also know that this mess did not begin in 2023. Only westerners seem to not know this very important fact. Also, there will not be peace for as long as apartheid exists and these people’s children and relatives remain in prisons indefinitely. Ask South Africans. If serious about progress and an end to the mess, demand the release of both, not just one side. No human should be expected to live under such conditions.

They’ve treated the Palestinians with disdain for decades including the sheer inhumanity of deciding what goes into that territory and who may leave it, even for emergency care. As any parents will recognise, if you don’t follow through with consequences and just repeat say ‘no,’ a naughty child will just humour you and carry on with the bad behaviour. Unfortunately Israel’s allies (USA, UK, Germany) don’t recognise this, and thus Israel continues to act how it wants, with awful human consequences…
