Many who watch live streams seem to not realize how difficult it is to entertain, watch chat and play well all at the same time just going on the amount of criticism you see in chats from people who have mastered something without all those distractions by doing the same thing for hours, days and months (years?).

Dont think it would slow them down at all, they dont think about driving at all, that's natural to them, they are that good, they also train alot with doing things while racing. I have seen pros and novice training where they have to move an object from one side of the wheel to the other side everytime the do a turn, while being ask questions over the radio (headphones).

@@Descenter1976 go watch videos by viperconcept. One in specific is called brain analyzer, really good video. You do think about what you do, there are many conscious choices you make while racing, such as where to brake, how much to accelerate, skid control... It's true that muscle memory plays a huge role, but you still lose concentration while talking. I dare you to (being honest) do what you're best at while commentating. You'll notice a big difference in your performance.

As a Ferrari fan, I know he's probably the second best on the grid right now. The problem is that he's not coping well with pressure and Hamilton has just been perfect (also, Ferrari strategy is shocking). Now I'm going back to the dark corner I've been hiding in since Monza to cry.

Well done, I think a '31.9 is very very good, especially for someone chatting simultaniously all the time aswel. ;D You should play this in VR Jimmy, you'll be able to see the corners better and better predict your brakingpoints, you might even be faster because of it. I believe in you Jimmy, that you can be even faster in VR! :D

some games are better then others. Mind you Assetto Corsa although supporting VR is from 2014 and therefore one of the earliest earlybirds in supporting VR, but try it with Project Cars 2 and you'll get entirely diffent results. Also depends on what headset you use. the Rift or Vive (Pro) should give you good depth perception in PC2. :)
@ohsoleohmio
@ohsoleohmio 6 лет назад
think vr can be a disavantage as well as advantage , main disadvantage is the lack of reference point of a fixed forward facing camera gives you the ability to track the cars rotation, as its this reference point of your strictly fixed direct forward vision against the worlds rotation around you that is vital in many ways for sim racing to judge from perspective and eyesight alone where your ears would be doing the main job from eardrums gryoscopic balance more than sound i believe..
@peyopeev8909
@peyopeev8909 6 лет назад
@@ohsoleohmio absolutely right, but the earlier you learn to drive with VR and learn to read its cues that's it provides you, the better for you in the long run if you wanna stay involved with Sim racing or you wanna use it as a practice tool for IRL racing.

In fact there were constructors in the 50s/60s who already did semi-automatic and automatic gearboxes, but those concepts failed AFAIK due to higher weight, reliability etc., so (semi)-automatic gearboxes like today (minus the seamless shift mechanism which came later) were introduced by Ferrari first with their car for 1989, the 640 aka F1-89. Ferrari also had 7 gears then. Next was Williams with the FW14 in 1991, then McLaren with the MP4/7A in 1992. Some of those 92 & 93 cars also had programmable and pre-selection auto functions. I'm not sure if *most* midfielders had semi-auto in 1993, since some did an intermediate step which was a sequential gearbox.

Usually the world model refers to the mathematical or physical representation of the same. The visual representation is another thing; having visual cue has nothing to do with physical modelling of the tire; that's all it is, visual, this doesn't simulate the literal forces between atoms -- which impression I have gotten from that "I love RF2 tire model".

As you said in the video you are in the top 15-20% of sim racers. The equipment you have is top notch too and sim racing doesn't require exceptional physical prowess. With all that said, what makes the top 5% better than you? Is it just practice? Is it setup? Is it all natural ability? I would be interested to know your thoughts on this.
@Jimmy_Broadbent
@Jimmy_Broadbent 6 лет назад
Natural ability/Practice i'd say. I had a brief session with telemetry recently and it helped me to improve almost instantly. The real difference is approach. This is my hobby, so it's important to keep it fun. I have no idea where my 'talent ceiling' is, but I'll likely never find out because I frankly can't be arsed with all the practice.
@noghera_racing
@noghera_racing 6 лет назад
From a person who went kind of pro in something: It's all about mindset (or approach as Jimmy puts it), they apply themselves so meticulously and put so much energy into what they do that most of the time it's no longer fun, you are eaten by frustration because people at the top are so close between each other in terms of raw skill that most of the time it comes down to luck or the condition you have or whatever. Just think about how many simracers with years of experience, expensive rigs and that will put a lot of time into the competition will end up losing because it won't be enough, also losing by a few cents of a second. Imagine the frustration. That's why it's just cool to be an amateur, you do it because you love it and WANT to do it, not because you have to.
@StephenWestrip
@StephenWestrip 6 лет назад

Mate, the MP4/8 was an active car. This sim does not simulate that. The real car had a turn in "floaty" response until the active settled into the RH configuration for that specific corner a split second later. This very particular driving characteristic is why Patrese never got to grips with the contemporaneous FW14B and Mansell did, the opposite of the FW14.. You can't model active cars with simple sims featuring mechanical load distribution and tire Pacejka curves. You are a simmer man.

No, they were banned at Hockenheim in 1993 but the teams all claimed that they can't just remove that stuff from the current cars so it was postponed until the beginning of the 1994 season. The accidents of 1994 fundamentally had nothing to do with that. The deadly crashes were due to other components failing and the other accidents were young drivers (Lamy etc.) making driver errors.

Jimmy are you faster in vr? And by how much? Or how less? 🤔

Haven't tried it in VR, but I find it easier to learn lines in VR because of the accuracy that 3D affords.

Snap, looking around to look into the corners as you do in reality = a far more immersive experience at least for me in VR. Often find Pancake (monitor) view now to be very front only restrictive. Like driving through a tank drivers slot view

I swear to god that car wasn't that quick in real life. 1993 pole lap at Suzuka: 1:37.1. 2017 Suzuka pole lap: 1:27.3. So 10 seconds slower. 2017 pole lap around Silverstone: 1:26.6. That means you would expect the times to be around 1:36's maybe 1:35's, not a 1:29!

If you’re kind maybe give a second or two over the pros in real life due to all the extra practice and having no worries over binning the car or injuring yourself. But that much time difference is definitely too much.

Juliano Araujo - Other than 130R being tighter and the final chicane being maybe a tad slower has anything else changed?

Really liked this one Jimmy. Senna's Q2 lap in 1993 was a 1:21.986, wow ! Just wondering about your tyres and fuel load ...

Hey Jimmer, just had a look at other videos/streams and saw that Rudy van Buren found out that this car has some kind of DRS (using the DRS button), so if you wanna have another go, there is plenty of time to be found :D
