Hello Pierre. I am a frequent watcher of Rick's channel. I still remembered you were interviewed by Rick. Since then I subscribed your channel and watched your videos from time to time. I think you are an excellent teacher. Your articulation skill is excellent and no need less to say your piano skills. I am happy to see your channel's growth. A private question: have you started earning from RU-vid channel yet? 😄😄 Thanks for sharing your experiences.

Very kind of you, thanks for coming along for the journey! Yes, I have started earning a little bit, but it took well over a year and dozens of videos. It's difficult, but if you stick with it you will inevitably pass the threshold!

You do great with the RU-vid channel! You just seem to have a natural ability to talk to people. Most RU-vid channels I've watched people start out not being very good at that part but they get better as time goes on. You seem to have nailed it from the beginning.

Hi Pierre, glad to get to know you this way... Essentially during corona I resumed playing keyboard, more open-minded than when I was young, also looked out for Lyle's transcriptions, and found your book. What an amazing story you can tell, and make Lyle's music even more long-lived. Will check-out Eberhard, there are so many gems in their oevre. Glad to have found your channel, looking forward and eager to learn

Hey Pierre, thanks for sharing with us your experiences. Very insightful. Awesome story about Lyle Mays. I know Mays from his work with Metheny, whom I first got to know because of his friendship with Milton Nascimento. Then I searched a bit more and saw that Milton recorded Mays' "Close to home". Nascimento is one of the prides of my region in Brazil. Maybe one day you do a tutorial of a Brazilian song. That's one of the things I like about your channel: puts me in contact with good music and provides some background story. Keep up the good work!

Hi Pierre, I wish I had half your talent. I honestly don't know how you do it. I thought maybe you played in a pop cover band because you play and teach so many popular songs, seemingly perfect. I hope you'll continue. Before Covid, I was doing live sound for local cover bands. I was getting bored listening to the same classic rock standards every night. However, I loved watching a band that could pull off some of the more difficult and unusual songs which other bands weren't able to do. BTW, a few average musicians I know, earn far more playing nursing home gigs than they did in bar bands. But I would quickly be bored playing songs like "Heart and Soul" or "Rainbow Connection" every day. Keep up the great work Thanks.

Thanks for watching! Yes, you guessed correctly regarding playing in cover bands. I'm lucky to play in one that performs challenging enough material, and on top of that the musicianship is just stellar. Thanks again for your kind words and for being a part of the channel!

Hi Pierre!! Great video, very informative! I love music and also prefer the 9 to 5. This is very interesting. If is curious about your arm losing strength. Yes please make a video about it. Was it originating from the spine? 😃 looking forward to the next video.

Good to hear it wasn’t from the spine 👍 seems your arm is much better 😀 still would be interesting to see a video about it. Thank you for writing back! I have been watching a lot of your videos. They are great, ss they sound just like the actual songs. If I may drop a suggestion. It would be great to see a video for “ dirty laundry “ don Henley ( the main organ/ synthesizer riff) 😃

Pierre, what synth and patch did Lyle use on the recording of "Are You Going With Me?" It's so great.

The harmonica? I believe that’s a synclavier but not positive. His normal ocarina lead at the time was probably the Oberheim 4 voice.

I just starting to learn piano and we don't have proper music schools or teachers where I come from so I have to rely on material from the internet. Sometimes it's overwhelming. I like your teaching style but don't want to just learn random pieces. I'd want to do it the right, structured way like people who actually have access to music schools.

Thanks, that is very inspiring. I like your style of teaching and Lyle Mays too. Apart from the refocus that your injury precipitated did it lead to any alterations in technique?
@pierrejpiscitelli

Thanks! Yes, it led to an emphasis on proper seating position, relaxing, using a computer mouse with the left hand, etc. Maybe I'll talk about it in a future video!

@@pierrejpiscitelli I'd be very interested in hearing a bit more of your story about the injury as I've been suffering with some strange arm/shoulder/back symptoms I suspect might be related to how I sit when doing piano, guitar and using computer.

@pierrejpiscitelli 12 дней назад
You have to make the reading easy. Reading and sight-reading are two different things. Try reading kids music that is too easy, while keeping your eyes a bar or two ahead of your hands. You have to do this daily for quite some time in order to work those muscles!
